"Surprise. In an average shopping center there is a quality restaurant like this. I think of this as a single stone and mortar for quality. So don't let it go. My daughter got me out for dinner and cocktail. Wow! Everything was really delicious. I think the proverb is true: you get what you pay and sometimes it is really good quality at a fair price! Parking was easy. A cozy small corner place with a lot of seating. The huge bar was full of guests eating and drinking. Most people seemed well dressed or busy (after the amount of work?. I think it might have been sourdough? I only ate it because the oat butter had some herbs on it. I usually avoid gluten, but a slice was not hurt. We ordered the crab cakes. 2 per order. Definitely not too much bread. A crab cake. Offers and tasty with a great small crispy coating. I ordered the special grilled halibut with potatoes and green beans. I admit, I wish the fish was a bigger one because it was so amazing. The potatoes were cooked tenderly. But the green beans were perfect. I like vegetables to taste themselves, which does not mean cooked. You had a bang. The lemon sauce was good enough to drink in a cup. Of course I didn't mean it didn't happen. My daughter ordered the seafood risotto. I took a little bite from her fish was salmon. Buttery, delicate and tasty. However, the Mascarpone cheese was overwhelming and too much in the Risotto for me, the Risotto was crushed together and not loose bits. Taste a little like boxed Mac n cheese taste. I know this is a difficult description. But I did. My daughter loved it. It was a big portion and she brought home about 1/2. Then we shared my favorite all the time. Crime brûlée I can rarely say it was bomb! That's it. With a perfect thin layer of comminuted sugar. No complaints! Yummy with a dark coffee.."

"We have enjoyed The Standard Restaurant since it opened (sometime after the Bugaboo closed. The waitress was wonderful. She was helpful, personable, attentive but not hovering and her pacing was perfect! The Santa Fe Egg rolls were delicious, plentiful and came with a complimentary sauce. My wife enjoyed the Pete’s Special very much and was very impressed with the soup as well as the sandwich. Our family was celebrating our son’s birthday as well as his recent graduation from college (at his favorite restaurant. I was surprised that this was not even mentioned by anyone since I checked the appropriate boxes on the reservation form as well as in a message to the restaurant. I understand this can happen with messages not being forwarded. It has been awhile since I ordered the Crab cake BLT. It was the best in the area. Tonight’s CCBLT had much more filler, rather than crabmeat, than I remember. It used to be 90 percent crab meat. I believe that ratio has been reversed and the texture was not nearly as appealing. Although still tasty, with a warm-soft roll and generous amount of fries, honestly, it was disappointing. However, all the portion sizes were huge and each of us took food home. The Key lime martini is still the best in town! The prices are reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes and everyone was welcoming and polite!"

"Seated next to kitchen door due to loud happy hour crowd birthday event. Server had difficulty finding a substitute bottle of wine. Apparently many of their bottles were moved to the new West County location. Great wine list, but it no longer accurately reflects their inventory. Salads were good and two of the entrees were fine, but the prime rib was a poor cut, very chewy and a fair amount of gristle. One of the servers identified that we were celebrating birthdays and brought us ample desserts. Very nice of him. Loud conflict and cursing between some of the staff could be heard coming from the kitchen."

"The food was OK but not what we were expecting from a steak house. the mussels appetizers were just warm not served hot. We both ordered the oz prime rib but they couldn't supply one which was ordered rare. The best they could offer was medium. I would understand this if it were late in the service, but not at pm. Instead I got the rib eye rare, but it seemed to be extremely grainy. Yes I know that the nerves are part of the texture however this was more than usual. The open bar salad was not very good either. It appeared they left every thing out since lunch as nothing was very appetizing. The customer next our table expressed his dissatisfaction with the salad bar too and the beef he was served he described as rubbery......don' think we got our money's worth for for such a high price. Maybe they deserve a second chance."

"I made reservations weeks in advance. They stuck us at a small, undraped, table in a dark section with a slanted ceiling. My husband had to duck to not hit his head. There was no light or candle on the table or above. We had to use our cellphone flashlight to read the menu. We were totally ignored until we flagged a server down who took our order. She took over saying our server was so busy. Server turned out good after that. My veal parm was burnt, overcooked. We have dined there many times before but this was a bad experience and it will be along time before we even consider it again."

"We've seen many reviews and we're anxious to try this fine dining restaurant. Well let me tell you words and photos cannot and do not do this place justice! Karlines is an amazing food and dining experience. Hunter was our server and his attention and personality is absolutely perfect. He was always there at the perfect time and engaged in wonderful conversations. Now let's talk about the food. We started with the cranberry apple walnut salad. We did substitute blue cheese for the feta, but hands down this is the most amazing salad we have ever experienced! The next course was bread and house made soup. The soup of the day was minestrone, not my favorite, until tonight! The bread, dip and soup complimented each other perfectly. On to the entree, chicken marsala. Chicken and heavenly sauce over mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and perfectly prepared Brussel sprouts, broccoli, and carrots. All this with a bottle of perfectly chilled bottle of pinot grigio! We couldn't even finish it all but dinner was so fantastic, we had to get a lemon cheesecake to go! If in Redding California, do not miss out on a chance to experience dining at its finest! "Not as good as it used to be Ate here last fall and it was excellent. They recently changed the menu to appeal more to a bar crowd (sliders, jalapeño mashed potatoes) and took off the nicer fare like the foie gras. The ribs were tasteless and the prime rib was horrible clearly they put some sauce on top of it to mask the taste. The baked potato was dried out like it was cooked a week ago. They do a good happy hour bar crowd and clearly want to push the alcohol but the food just isn't worthwhile."
