"The restaurant's atmosphere is mellow and relaxed, with soft jazz music creating a soothing and sophisticated vibe. As someone who appreciates good customer service, I was genuinely impressed by the kindness of the owners; they were extremely friendly and personable. The executive chef even stopped by our table to chat, and we shared a few laughs. They consistently checked on us and were clearly very knowledgeable about their menu. I loved that they valued our opinions on their food! Now, let’s dive into the food! The menu featured incredible cultural dishes you won’t typically find at mainstream restaurants. It’s evident that they put in a lot of research and thought to create a diverse menu that caters to everyone, regardless of dietary preferences—be it vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free. I was pleasantly surprised by how appetizing the vegan and vegetarian options were, even though I usually don’t go for those. Everything is made to order, hot, and fresh. I tried the Ethiopian Stew Platter with chicken, and it was excellent. The platter featured a flavorful stew with finely chopped vegetables and organic lentils, seasoned with berbere spice, served on house-made injera bread along with two sides of my choice. It was a bit spicy, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The injera bread was similar to a crepe but fluffier with a slightly bitter aftertaste. I chose basmati rice and vegan mac and cheese as my sides. I was a bit apprehensive about the vegan mac since I’d had a terrible experience with it at another restaurant, but THIS vegan mac was fantastic! For dessert, the menu offers freshly made cheesecakes. We tried the Salted Caramel Cheesecake and the Butter Pecan Cheesecake, both of which were exceptionally delicious! The cheesecake was fluffy, just the right sweetness, and perfectly baked. The Butter Pecan Cheesecake had a graham cracker pecan crust and tasted just like ice cream. The Salted Caramel Cheesecake was drizzled with some of the most buttery caramel I’ve ever tasted! They also serve complimentary hibiscus and ginger shots, both of which are delightful and offer great health benefits; you can even order them in larger sizes or add them to alcoholic beverages. I have no doubt that I will return to this restaurant—it was truly one of my best dining experiences in the five years I’ve lived in Tallahassee."
