"My family and I stopped in tonight for a quick dinner. We called in advance to make sure they could accommodate a party of 6. It’s a Monday night but still felt we better check. I called and was told we could be seated right away. We were at the restaurant within 10 minutes of calling and we were sat immediately. We placed our drink order and that’s when it started to turn. 14 minutes it took to get water, tea and 2 glasses of wine. After our server dropped off the drinks we ordered a bowl of queso. 10 minutes it took for it to be dropped off which wasn’t bad but it took 10 more to get chips to eat the queso with so as you can imagine, it was ice cold when we got it. We asked for refills that never came. 24 minutes later we finally got to place our food order. The food came out fairly quickly. When it was delivered, we asked for those refills we had never gotten. Yet they never came, we had NO drinks for our meal and no wine that we had ordered. We finished our food and waited 26 minutes with no server and so I went to the hostess stand to request a manager. 14 minutes it took the manager to come to the table after requested. When he did he basically said nothing just stood at the table and looked at me. I explained that I wanted to let him know that we had awful service, maybe he needed to train his other employees to help if they see tables needing things, maybe refill drinks or pre-bus tables. Still said not a word until I said “ we’ll do you have anything to say maybe “sorry you had bad service “ or “we will try to do better” instead he ran my card for the full amount and said have a great night. The server finally came by at the very end to let me know she has just started and was also the bartender and said “ I don’t know”.The part that made me very upset is the manager not being able to properly handle a complaint. As someone that has previously trained employees in the customer service field and now Corp America, I was blown away at the lack of care and lack of trying to make it right! Maybe an apology. I didn’t ask for free food and didn’t expect it, I just wanted the manager to know what went wrong and try and fix it for the reputation of the restaurant. With so many “Mexican food” options on every corner you can’t really give bad service and have a lack of care before it catches up. We won’t be back as there are too many great places around!"

"Note: My review is not about the food or atmosphere only the service. An unfortunate low point on an otherwise fun visit to Ocean Grove. My father, mother, and I wanted to eat there for dinner a few nights ago to celebrate my mom 's 70th birthday and got there a few minutes 8PM. We had been told earlier that their dine in was closed by that point and only take out was available (I presume because closing is at 9PM). However, we were not sure whether this rule was only in place because they didn 't have the staff to wait on new customers after 8PM (there were still plenty of customers who presumably had arrived before 8PM who were still eating there inside and out), or if, in fact, the tables were closed altogether regardless of wait staff availability. So, my father asked an employee if they were fine with us ordering takeout and sitting at one of their outdoor tables on the sidewalk, but we would otherwise take care of ourselves (no wait staff needed whatsoever). The employee said she didn 't know, but a second waitress (I didn 't get her name, but she was Caucasian, about 20 30 years old, and had brown hair) interrupted and said No and said that we should sit at a nearby restaurant instead. My dad started to explain that we wouldn 't need anyone to wait on us all we needed was a place to sit down, we 'd be out within half an hour, would clean up after ourselves, and we 'd prefer to be at Tino 's since we were hoping to order from there but before he could fully explain all of this, the second waitress interrupted him and snapped I don 't care what you think with a sardonic smile. We were baffled as this was fully unpromoted and the first waitress and my father had otherwise started to have a polite conversation until the second waitress joined in. We promptly left. To give the restaurant their due credit: There 's nothing wrong with saying that we can 't sit at the tables it 's their restaurant and their property and there 's nothing wrong with saying no again to my dad 's explanation, as there may of course be other reasons to not want customers to sit at their tables past 8PM. However, there 's ALSO nothing wrong with him asking a simple clarifying question in case the restaurant can accommodate it 's a question, NOT a demand. And there IS something wrong with saying I don 't care what you think in that scenario. I 'm guessing the second waitress was having a bad day or has had bad experiences with customers in the past, but she should know better than to project that onto others. Service: 1"

"This is my second time coming to this establishment and the first time I came in it was with a group of 7 women (5 Caucasians and 2 Black) we were served in a reasonable amount of time and it was. Tonight I came in with. Group of 3 Black people and we were here for over an hour with simple orders of 2 pizzas and Salmon Scampi and it has taken over an hour to receive our food while another table of 4 Caucasians came in with much more complicated orders and were served within 30 minutes. When I pointed this out to our server I was told, I don't know what to tell to you, but your pie is coming out of the oven now I hate to make this about race, but that's exactly how it felt to us. We will never come to this establishment again. I prefer to spend my money where it is appreciated. We are all Navy Commissioned Officers and I only mention our occupation because we are on deployment away from our families and don't get much time off, so this evening was supposed to be a time to unwind, before diving back in to the our stressful schedules. My family is coming in to visit in 3 weeks when I get more time off...I will start my search now to find a better place for us go. If I could give less stars I would, but I'll settle for passing word of mouth to my colleagues to find a more respectable, more veteran friendly, and non-discimatory establishment to support. If you have too much melanin and don't pass for white, please spend your money elsewhere!"
