"We were one of two occupied tables at the restaurant. I had to remind two people to input my Open Table reservation into the computer. The waiter had difficulty understanding our order, and I had to correct him multiple times to ensure we received the right items. My coconut soup was watery and lacked coconut flavor. While my companion's main course arrived promptly, my meal, as well as the rice and bread, took an additional 5 minutes to be served. No apologies were given for the delay. Overall, I would rate the food as just okay, with better Indian restaurants available in the area."

"Visited Sep 19, 2023, Thursday afternoon for lunch. Please note that this place seems to have changed hands in ownership. They don't offer buffet anymore but you can still see the old buffet containers against the wall, not sure what purpose it serve but seems to just take up space and give a kind of wrong impression but anyway, I think not very important. Ambience is good and the place is nice and clean. Was not very busy at the time of my visit. Currently, it seems to be run by a South Indian family, you can see the center piece decoration on the wall and the two paintings one on the right and one one left seems to have been left by previous north Indian owners. Anyways, the food quality is very good. Prices are good. Not too low, nor too high but right where they should be. Service is good. Not the top notch as sometime the limited staff may be busy with other things like at the cash register, dealing with pick up orders and may not be able to pay attention to people at tables. The parking is free and available for a bunch of shops in the small mini market/compound. You may or may not find a parking spot there based on how busy all the shops are at that particular hour. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend it but the only downside was they taxed each item twice, first the item was taxed and on the total amount it was taxed again. When it was brought to the attention of the staff they said they have recently updated their Clover POS system. But no apology was issued for the incorrect billing and in fact, no correct in the bill was made and they were happy to charge me double taxed sum, which I believe is illegal but I didn't want to ruin my mood for this glitch."

"I stopped in here to carry-out some of the lunch buffet. Just like the other reviewers stated, all of there vegan items were clearly marked. There were about 8 different vegan items as part of the buffet. They brought out some bread for me to take with me. When I asked if the naan was vegan, the waiter told me it wasn't but that they could make me some (which they did). I was very impressed with how accommodating they were to my dietary needs and enjoyed the food."

"First-time post-covid. I'm not sure if I can still rank it as my favorite Indian restaurant. The food was good, but the service was lacking. What's good food without a great atmosphere, service, and ambiance? I need the whole experience! It took 40 mins to get our food, we had to send a dish back, whereas the non-melinated couple that came in after us ordered, got their food, ate, paid, and left before we even got the bill. Our server seemed irritated and aggravated with our table and acted as if we were an inconvenience when we asked for anything. Contrasted with the other table; he was all smiles and was very attentive. He made sure that they didn't need or wanted for anything. He constantly checked on them for satisfaction, but with our table, he seemed to skip over us, didn't check on us, and we had to track him down when we needed something. If he happened to be passing by when we asked for something, he would respond as he was walking away with his back towards us. There was a clear and definitive difference in attitude when he dealt with us. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt by saying he was an older gentleman and a one-man show. He was the hostess and server, and he also handled the take-out orders when there were two younger gentlemen sitting near the bar, not helping (maybe they were on break"

"Have always loved this place, visited the place after almost an year, still the same flavorful food and quality. Loved their bar menu as you can see in the pics. The place isn't that crowded as it used to be ,may be because there is another one in Bellevue now, anyway no complaints. "I only went to the restaurant to get vaccinated for monkeypox and ended up waiting for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Initially, they charged us for entry, but then informed half of our group that it wasn't sufficient for everyone, even though they easily counted people outside and made us wait for two hours. They even allowed someone to cut in line right before me, while others were skipping ahead left and right. The whole situation was completely disorganized and it was a terrible experience."

"The owner here does not care about the customer. From the moment you walk in, you are not acknowledged, despite having made eye contact with the owner. You are made to feel, as if you where imposing on the owner. The owner just has way too much attitude, not the type of person whom should be in such a people related business. Despite being mid week, and plenty of tables, we where still made to wait, having our meal ordered took another 15 min, I finally stared at the owner, and he took our order (with an attitude). The food was okay, but not at par for the price they charge. Lamb was very rubber like, beef curry was better. Waiter was amicable, but by then, our mood was fouled. The only thing harder to swallow than their rubber lamb, was the $50 bill for a lousy dinner. Would never come back here again, and highly advise others, to save your money and go somewhere better."

"We visited this restaurant on New Year's Eve, which is usually a busy night. However, even considering the busyness, the amount of time it took to receive our appetizer was unacceptable. Our waiter, who was also the bartender, was too overwhelmed to check on us while we waited what felt like a long time for our samosa appetizer. The entrees we ordered, the fish special and the veggie biryani, were both disappointing in taste. The fish was tough and lacked freshness, while the biryani was overly spicy despite our request for medium spice. The service staff were inattentive and seemed indifferent towards customers. We would not return to this restaurant."

"had to bring it down 1 star. my last time i was there the spic was severely lacking. i asked for Indian spicy and the server made sure i wanted it that spicy and it came out 0/10 spice. i had to ask for them to make it spicier but they did not remake the dish they just added hot sauce. HOT SAUCE in an Indian restaurant unbelievable. i sadly will not be back unless i dont find a place that is actually spicy. the only reason i rated 4 of 5 stars on atmosphere is not even your fault. there was a table of 5 ungrateful people sitting across from me who just kept complaining about their food. how it was too spicy or had specific things or was wrong. the old lady was so rude along with the rest of her family. the main man was telling her the food is not spicy at all and that her order was correct. the old woman just admitted to just not liking it. people need to think before they go out to eat. and when they were asked how everything was they all said good. spineless. they are so annoying that i am tempted to ask to sit elsewhere. i LOVE indian food and have been to almost every restaurant in st louis area and House of India is the only place that meets expectations in every category. service is nice and friendly and knowledgeable, the food is always fresh never frozen. the decor and music is very much Indian. terribly sorry that HOI has to deal with customers such as that party of five."

"We went for a little brunch and the food was really good!! The chicken tiki Marsala was delicious! The chili chicken was also really good! I love how they had everything laid out buffet style including the drinks. It was really convenient and a wonderful way to try everything that we wanted to! The service was lacking though, there were multiple times where we couldn’t find any employees, and there was even a group that left after waiting almost 10 min to get seated. So great food! But the service has to be improved. But I definitely recommend if you’re craving some good Indian!"

"Personally, I'm particularly fond of the butter chicken (also known as Chicken Makhani). Paired with some fresh, hot naan, it's hard to find a better Indian dish. The sauce is simply aromatic and rich. The chicken biryani is infused with rose water, giving it a delightful flavor, although I find the chicken pieces to be a bit larger than I prefer. Their tandoori dishes are tasty, and the Mulligatawny soup is quite enjoyable as well. I did like the Dum Aloo Bukhara, but I was left feeling disappointed during a recent visit. Additionally, I find their kormas to be a touch too creamy for my liking. Nevertheless, it all comes back to that incredible butter chicken."
