"Overall, the food was very good and the venue was nice and modern but the service was a bit slow and the prices were on the higher end with cocktails costing $20 each along with an automatic 20% gratuity applied. There was an empty hostess stand when we 1st arrived but after asking the bar they advised us that the hostess was on the other end of the restaurant (the hotel side). Our server was pleasant and made good recommendations, but there was a long lag between our courses, and he did not come back to our table for quite awhile after we received our entrees. We had the Hamachi Crudo and Scallops to start, and both were delicious. The scallops were buttery and the Hamachi crudo was light and flavorful. For entrees, we had the Cacio e Pepe with shrimp added and the Steak and Frites. The Steak and Frites had very nice flavor and I was satisfied with the Cacio e Pepe as well. The Wake and Bake cocktail was very comforting and a perfect fall drink if you like apples and the smokiness of mezcal. We ended with the Na'Nu and Make a Wish. They were okay desserts, but I was not really impressed with either one. I am glad we tried them out, but I'm not sure if I'll revisit given the prices and lack of attentive service. We might consider giving them another shot in the future because the food was very good for the most part. It's frustrating that the gratuity is already added because I didn't feel like the service was worth 20% but I guess they don't have to try as hard when they know they are getting 20% automatically."

"My wife and I visited for the first time on a Saturday evening. We were attracted by a special menu run in conjunction with a local restaurant group. Cudos to our server, a pleasant little southern belle by the name of Angela. She was very busy with tables spread out between the main dining area, a larger party room and the patio. Running around like a puppy chasing its tail she managed to keep up with all of her tables admirably. She answered all of our questions in good time. I will make sure to ask for her if/when we visit again. The food was mostly very good to excellent. I had the Crawfish Poutine, a tasso gravy loaded with crawfish and andouille and 2 crispy edged sunny side up eggs over nice crispy fries. My wife started with the butternut squash soup and followed with the salmon over leek/onion grits. The soup was a little spicy but very tasty. The ice creams were house made and very tasty. I would only have a few criticisms to offer. If you are going to call something a wedge salad it should be an iceberg wedge, not a chunk of bibb lettuce. It should also have grape tomatoes and the balsamic glaze. The brussels sprouts we ordered were tasty but woefully under cooked, almost impossible to chew. One other thing: The noise level in the room was ridiculous. We had a hard time conversing across the table. They would benefit from some sound absorbing materials lower on the walls to cut down on the ambient volume. Based on the food and service alone I would give the restaurant a 4.5 to a 5. The sound detracted mightily from the experience hence the 3 star rating."

"When my wife and I moved to University Heights in 2011, we were fortunate to discover an entire food market right down the street in Hillcrest, and we absolutely loved it! They offered an extensive selection of craft beers, high-quality food, and friendly service, along with a tavern on the corner called 7th Avenue Pub. It quickly became our go-to spot for delicious burgers, craft beers, and even live music in the evenings. However, after moving to Solana Beach in 2015, we found ourselves near another Whole Foods Market in Del Mar. Again, we enjoyed an impressive craft beer selection, excellent food, and welcoming service, this time at the Trifecta Tavern, which served some of the best burgers around and even had a nightly deal that included a free beer. It was fantastic! Unfortunately, the pandemic and the rise of Amazon Prime significantly affected our beloved tavern community. Fast forward to 2022, we now live in Irvine, just minutes away from three Whole Foods Markets, but sadly, the in-store taverns no longer serve food. We really missed that experience! On Saturday, we decided to visit the Whole Foods Market in Laguna Niguel for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised to find that their tavern was fully operational. A very helpful cashier named Stacey took excellent care of us when we arrived for lunch around 1:30 PM, pushing our loaded shopping cart behind us. We settled at a cozy bar top table in a corner, and Stacey took our order. I started with a large glass of ice water — too early for a beer! My wife chose the Chicken Strips with fries, which came with ranch dressing, while I opted for the Market Club Burger featuring two organic grass-fed beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, secret sauce, and roasted brioche buns, served with a side of salad or fries (I went for the fries). Stacey mentioned that live music had been put on hold at the start of the pandemic, but it might return soon. The tavern offered a great selection of craft beers on tap, delightful music in the background, and a happy crowd of diners — it felt wonderfully inviting! After a short wait, Stacey delivered our beautifully presented lunch. My wife relished her perfectly cooked chicken strips and crispy fries, while my massive Market Club Burger certainly made an impression. The freshly cooked fries paired perfectly with the ranch dressing — absolutely delicious! We truly enjoyed our lunch, feeling reminiscent of those good old days! **Note:** With over 22 million views on my Yelp reviews and photos in 2022, I can confidently tell you what’s great!"

"If you ever need an idea for a Friday night dinner, I highly recommend checking out the Italian/Pasta Buffet at Maxwell's located inside the East Bank Club. Full disclosure, I am a member of EBC and have close connections to people at the Club and love many aspects of the country's best health club. That being said, it doesn't change or affect my opinion about one of the best deals in town on a Friday night $28/adults $12/children for all you can eat Italian antipasto and make-it-yourself pasta bar, plus dessert). We started by ordering off the menu a small starter to have with our cocktails, ahi tuna bites. Nice little pieces of tuna served on tortilla with avocado, corn and salsa. The tuna was a bit overcooked to my liking, but the flavors were all a nice way to start the meal and don't leave you feeling stuffed. The Italian night features a make your own pasta bar, but that is not the only option. Next to the salads, cheese and salami starters you can dive into risotto, shrimp, or turkey. I love their Caesar salad, and the asparagus risotto was the best I've had in a long time. If you like your risotto well cooked cheesy you won't be able to stick to one helping. I added some pieces of salami and asparagus next to my Caesar to make a wonderful plate. I was craving a healthy pasta dish with lots of veggies so I added everything available to whole wheat linguini. The three other pasta options included mushroom ravioli, zita and penne. I asked for basil pesto sauce, but there are other options such as tomato, plain olive oil and Alfredo. The chef made a great healthy plate for me without using too much oil or cheese. It is a health club after all. I enjoyed my creation so much that I could have gone back a couple of more times. I showed restraint, especially knowing the dessert course was around the corner. The options for the final course are gelato, sorbet or cannoli. I went with the sorbet, and it was a fantastic way to clean my palate and leave me refreshed at the end of the meal. Again, I'm quite partial when it comes to all things EBC, but it's undisputed that a $28 Italian night dinner is great value for great food. Non-members are welcome so check it out before they realize it should cost more."

"I made reservations at LaRue Elm for a party of 9 for a birthday brunch. The reservations process was very simple and the hosts were easy to work with and they were able to get us in easily. We went in on Saturday before Mother's day and unfortunately they did not tell us that they would be serving a limited Monther's day menu on Saturday as well but that was no big deal. We were able to sit right down and the server was attentive at first, coming in and checking on us and getting everyone drinks. We were waiting on one latecomer who arrived 15 minutes after our reservation time but by the time they arrived the server was no where to be found and this was the case for the rest of the meal. He finally returned and took our order but was very snippy to multiple guests in our party who had simple kitchen requests such as an extra hard poached egg and regular bacon on their sandwich as opposed to Canadian bacon. We finally received our food nearly 35 minutes later which seemed much longer because every time we asked for a coffee or mimosa refill it took ages for our server to return which was a little strange being that we didn't see but two other tables in the entire restaurant. Luckily there was a sweet gentleman who I think was a manager who began helping our original server. The food was fine, some plates better than others. I personally had the chicken and waffles and my chicken was over cooked and dry and my waffle was drenched in syrup and soggy by the time I got it but my friend got the eggs Benedict and I had a bite and it was delicious. We had to ask multiple times for salt pepper, drink refills a to go box and finally the checks. Overall it was a disappointing meal especially being that it was a special occasion and the prices defiantly aren't cheap."

"Loved the sandwiches we got. The combination of food to please the foodie, fast-food style order at the kitchen and host/food-runner/bus-boy minimalist staffing made it a unique and enjoyable experience. Feels more like ordering at a bar than a fast food joint and they have a nice selection of beers. Grab a beer, order your food and a server will find you at your table when you're ready. You don't feel rushed by a server and when you go to leave you've already paid so just go (turn your nose at fast food places all you like, it's a proven format). I believe the tips are shared among the staff which makes you feel like you're bolstering the kitchen staff that made two of the best sandwiches we ever had. We're hoping to go back the last Sunday of this month and we live out in Patchogue. We ordered the duck wings, roast beef sandwich and double smash burger and nothing disappointed! The wings were tender and a bit alien in texture compared to chicken and the tamarind/passion fruit glaze with the cucumber raita dipping sauce was unique and delicious. The roast beef was perfectly balanced with the ratio of butter toasted bread, greens and condiments and the smash burger was a perfect burger with the same great balance of aged cheddar, bacon, pickles, house sauce, shredded lettuce, steamed white onion and brioche. I look forward to trying the pork hoagie, the curry and chicken thigh sandwiches in future visits."
