"Ive always wanted to try the Porch. Tonight I finally did! I got the buttermilk chicken with two sides and mac and cheese. I spent nearly $50 plus the driver tip. Heres my review. The chicken was a solid 8. Would eat again. It was juicy and tender. It was covered, after cooking, in salt and pepper. If youre on a low salt diet, this is not the food for you. But the S&P after bath makes all the difference. While the chicken is juicy, it lacks the right flavor without it. I got three pieces a leg, a huge thigh, and a huge breast. Excellent portions. My sides were the biscuit and gravy and mashed potatoes. First, the biscuits were good and large. Two large biscuits. A solid 7.5. They could use a butter bath after baking for flavor, but they werent dry. Both jam and butter were included as small extras... not enough for the biscuits as a whole but it added needed flavor for as long as it lasted. Im not a jam person, but I enjoyed this one. The gravy lacked flavor. Maybe a four. Supposedly a sausage gravy, because I did see sausage, but there was no spice palate to it. Since Im at home, I can fix that, but in a restaurant, it would be disappointing. My potatoes were fine but needed both seasonings and mashing. I had two whole potatoes in my container surrounded by other mashed potatoes. All skins left on. Again, easy to season and fix at home, but as is, a 4. Finally, the Mac and Cheese. I was disappointed to get a dish without breadcrumbs, as noted in the description. it would have added needed texture, but also, could have upset the dish by the time it was delivered, so a toss up. Its a five. Again, light on seasoning. an obvious post cooking layer of black pepper, but it lacked the kick I expected. Perhaps it lacked a sharp cheddar to add some tang. If I ordered again, would add bacon and/or the BBQ pork. I added bacon to it at home myself and it improved. If youre reading this, do it. My rankings werent high, but Im giving this place a four overall. I wont eat it all in one sitting, but it will be eaten. They used some environmentally friendly dishes, and it would probably hit differently getting it at a table while hot from the kitchen. I would want to try other things from their menu before I write this restaurant off. As I picked a pretty Southern sounding selection for dinner, be warned that it doesnt have the flavor and kick of traditional Southern dishes. A little cayenne in the chicken, onion and butter in the potatoes, and some extra kick in the gravy would make all the difference. But I wouldnt kick this chicken out of my kitchen if it suddenly showed up."

"Stopped at the Spaulding Steak and Ale inside of the Governors Inn in Rochester NH for dinner with my guy. It was a fun atmosphere with a lot local high school memorabilia. They started us off with a bowl of popcorn (I love popcorn! that could have been more fresh. We saw a salad on the menu with a Spicy Thai shrimp and we asked if we could just get the shrimp as an appetizer and they happily accommodated the request. I didn’t get a picture but it was very good. I had the honey bbq chicken wrap (no onions with the sweet potato fries. The bbq sauce was a tangy sauce that was not on the sweet side. I’m thinking it was homemade. It was good. The fries were excellent! Not salted, which I prefer. My guy ordered the Eggplant Parmesan and took half home because it was a large serving. He thought the eggplant could have been cooked more for his liking. I appreciated the William Hill Chardonnay on the wine list and my guy enjoyed the Sam Summer on draft. The server was very attentive and I appreciated that she asked if we were finished with our plate before reaching to take it. We were still working on those yummy fries. After we paid, we decided to sit at the bar and have a dessert cocktail. We had espresso martinis. A little more chocolate than I’d normally expect but it was good. If you are in the area, it’s a place I would recommend stopping and trying!"

"I should have known something was up when I arrived during prime brunch hours and it was empty. Anyway, I just spent the worse 50+ bucks of my dining life. I got the chicken waffles. The waffles were soggy instead of crispy, and not special in any way, besides this strange spicy ingredient (jalapeño? that no one in their right mind would ask for. I legit make better wafflesmyself and I?m just a regular guy. The chicken? lord help me? two little chicken tenders? and it was $16 plus tax for that. Ialso ordered a mimosa. I saw that it was $5 and thought to myself, ?well maybe it?s going to be a big cup? (like at rubysunshine which I highly recommend , but nope, it was a regular thin champagne flute. I was with someone so our two entrees andtwo mimosas came up to 48 bucks after tax, and then after leaving a tip I was at above $50. We rushed out of that restaurantbecause the reality of us really wasting time and money there was bothering us. Worst restaurant I?ve ever been to in NorthCarolina. Tiny serving sizes, which is rare here, coupled with high prices, which is also rare here. Just for comparison?s sake?I went to metro diner earlier this week and spent $50 and was so happy with my decision because they give you an amazing waffle, and half a fried chicken, fried to perfection and the waffle comes with a nice strawberry butter. At metro, we also ordered twodrinks (a Bloody Mary and a mimosa , and two sides (biscuits and gravy and grits and it was $50 bucks. Metro diner isexponentially better, and it was so much food we took some of everything home. And I have no affiliation with metro diner, justsaying. So yea, avoid ?Queen City Craft and Gourmet? for brunch."
