"Usually, I really enjoy the Nigiri at Sushi Ai in O'Fallon, but this visit was frustrating. The ratio of rice to fish was absurd. It felt like they were trying to fill me up with rice, leaving me unable to finish and potentially charging me extra for leftovers. With the White Snapper, the fish hardly extended beyond the rice, and I kept experiencing a dry mouth from all the rice. I shouldn't have to drown my sushi in soy sauce just to get it down! Overall, I left feeling unsatisfied, especially since the servers seemed indifferent to my concerns and kept insisting I would be charged extra for the leftover rice. Perhaps I'll consider coming back in the future, but this experience left me hesitant."

"While some prices appeared to be on the higher side, I truly enjoyed everything I sampled. My friends and I appreciated the variety of Chinese and Japanese dishes, and we had a wonderful time. My personal highlight was the baked salmon atop delectable snow crab meat. The waitress was very friendly, and it was fascinating to watch the chef preparing sushi. The presentation of all the dishes we ordered was impressive, and I would definitely return whenever I’m in the area."

"There have been multiple times where I have gone to Akari during their restaurant hours and no one was there or the store was closed. One time there was a message on the door stating they'd be back at a certain time which was within a few minutes so I waited and waited and it was nearly 30 minutes after the specified time before someone showed up then I had to wait another 30 minutes until the food was ready. Today(a Tuesday) I showed up but they were closed as well. The sign on the door said they would be open at 11:00 but they were still closed at 2:00 when I arrived. When they are open like they are supposed to be, their food is really good but I don't have time to drive out of my way to find the restaurant closed and end up getting stuck trying to find somewhere else nearby to get food. I've given them a lot of chances but they just aren't reliable."

"I ordered for pick up 40 mins before closing. I ordered a combo plate and was told their side options were rice, miso soup and salad I asked for one of each. When I arrived for pick up I was told they actually ran out of miso soup so if I wanted extra rice or salad. I asked if I could just get a discount since they didn’t tell me they ran out of Miso soup at time of order. I was told that wasn’t an option. Part of me wanted to just cancel the whole order, but I was starving and had other things on schedule so I just took it. Went home and I go three sides of rice??‍. They charged me extra for chicken breast (unrequested). Shrimp tempura was ok, but everything was cold. $23 for an order I wasn’t happy with. As someone who has worked customer service, #1 rule is do right by the customer; the goal is to have the customer come back multiple times not just that one visit. I will not be going back."

"This restaurant on Port Richmond Avenue is the best option for budget-friendly Empire Szechuan-style food. I ordered the sesame chicken and boneless rib combo with pork fried rice (instead of pork lo mein) and a side of pan-fried pork dumplings. The dumplings were inexpensive but much better than others I have tried on the avenue. The boneless ribs actually had meat on them, which was a pleasant surprise. The chicken was a bit oversauced and sweet, but still okay. I remember when it used to be either No 1 or Didi, but now the clear choice has been made."
