"We are very supportive of wait staff and folks who prepare food. We used to do it ourselves so we know how hard it is and we know when a service is run poorly. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at the Carolina Room or any eatery at Westin since we arrived. You’ve got a systemic morale problem with your staff. They are nice people but I have heard at every meal how overworked they are due to lack of staff. This was said directly to me and we overheard many conversations amongst themselves. It was a long wait to get food and when it arrived it was cold and didn’t taste good. My daughter ordered fish tacos which she liked the day before. The tacos presented at the Carolina Room were made with a different fish. She didn’t eat them. The waiter noted she ate nothing but didn’t offer to find her another meal. We had to ask for a drink refill and no one bussed our dirty app plates until well into our meal. I asked for two lava cakes to go and when we got to the room, we discovered the lava cakes were cold. Today, we ordered lunch in the room. My husband ordered a chicken wrap which is described to have walnuts and cranberries. It came with avocado and cucumber. So he didn’t eat it. Every dining experience at the Westin so far has been late, not up to expectations and expensive. The one thing we all agree is delicious, though, are the fries. If I were Westin, I would be worried about the state of staff engagement and how you can rectify it as soon as possible. They are the face and voice of your company. They aren’t rude to guests but they are openly complaining about their jobs. Never a good sign. It certainly has made me question if this is a place we would return to. Happy, engaged employees wouldn’t let my food arrive cold or leave my water glass empty."

"I made a reservation for outside seating for a celebration of my daughter’s upcoming wedding. When we checked in with the hostess she rudely informed us they do not accept reservations for outside seating and on top of that we probably wouldn’t get served because they had people call in sick. We asked to speak to the manager. While we waited the hostess took 3 phone orders. Curious if they don’t have the ability to accommodate the people actually in their restaurant why would they be accepting phone orders? The manager was equally rude and told us there was nothing he could do “corporate controls the online options for reservations.” He told us we could sit inside but probably wouldn’t get served anytime soon. If they don’t take reservations for outside seating why wouldn’t they call and let people know that when the reservation is made? I made it a week before the date. They require you to give a phone number so why not be proactive and let people know about the error. I completely understand that employees call in and that is out of their control. Again, why not be proactive and let people with reservations know of the issue so they can choose to make other arrangements instead of waiting for them to show up and then rudely informing them they won’t be served. So disappointed that in these times of businesses closing almost daily that this is how they treat their patrons. We will choose to support the restaurants who deliver quality customer service. We will not return to the Ainsworth."
