"The staff was friendly, and the food was tasty; however, the restaurant's location was in disarray, with unclean and outdated furniture. It was not what I would expect for a $45 lunch. The atmosphere felt more like that of a fast-food joint than a place that specializes in fresh food."

"I had the crab cake appetizer and ravioli appetizer as my dinner. Ravioli could have been hotter. The crab cakes were outstanding as always. The steaks my 3 dining companions had were not doing that sizzling thing when they came to the table so I assume they had not just come off the grill as usual. My wife said the hash browns were undercooked. Rombauer Chardonnay was excellent and a healthy pour but at $26 a glass seemed overpriced when I can get a bottle for $36. Our server Wilton was great! Cocktails pre-dinner in the bar were excellent. I think they were maybe understaffed a bit in light of the World Dairy Expo going on this week. 3 large tables near us were all talking dairy farming. One of the coziest places in Madison to dine. I imagine I will be back again soon."

"Hubby and I ate here on 12/30 while in town for the Vikings game. We really liked the food and the service was great. We both had the prime rib sandwich. I also had the cheese curds which melted in my mouth! The only thing we didn’t like was the automatic 15% service charge to all checks and that doesn’t include the tip for the server!!! A simple lunch turned into a $100 meal. We didn’t have any alcoholic beverages either. I likely won’t go again but glad I experienced a Minnesota staple!"

"My wife and I decided to get a fish roast for dinner last night. We chose one of us to get the fish, the other one to get the fried scallops, and then share. Man, that was a good idea. Everything was hot, crispy and delicious, except for my Makkaroni salad, that was not a big deal. And the service was friendly and fast. It was a beautiful experience after the pandemic for 2 years. Stop the good work."

"As usual, we had another great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in the valley, Northside Kitchen. Food was delicious (short rib gnocchi, summer peach salad, French onion soup), service great (Marilyn at the bar is a gem), and ambience great! We’ve been dinning here for 6-7 years and never had a meal or met a staffer we didn’t love. You will too!"

"Today, I decided to order a chopped cheese sandwich and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. I specifically asked for no lettuce or tomato, but that request was not honored. The sandwich was lacking in both meat and cheese, which was a major letdown considering the name of the sandwich. Additionally, there was no mayo or ketchup included. It seemed like the person preparing the sandwich did not care about the quality of their work. In the end, my girlfriend had to remake the entire sandwich because it looked like a mess. I'm not trying to criticize the restaurant, but it's important to speak up when things are not up to standard so that the person responsible can improve their work ethic and provide customers with a better experience."

"This was our first experience at Bill of Fare, and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. My fiancé ordered the Gyro Benedict, which came with generous portions of gyro meat. I opted for the Swedish pancakes topped with lingonberry filling and strawberries, complemented by coffee for both of us. Just as we were about to leave, owner George stopped by our table to check on our service. He shared the story of his grandfather's Greek yogurt recipe from Crete and asked if we had ever tried it. Since we hadn't, he kindly prepared a sample for us, which is showcased in the picture. It was, without a doubt, the best Greek yogurt I've ever tasted — rich and creamy, enhanced with fresh honey and fruit, making it absolutely delicious. You can also buy this yogurt to go, and I ended up purchasing one to take home. I highly recommend Bill of Fare for its excellent food, ample indoor and outdoor seating, attentive servers, and great management. I will definitely be returning!"

"Overall a very nice experience; seated promptly with a reservation. Our server was thorough, helpful, and attentive. What struck me was how good everything smelled upon walking in. It made choosing an entree difficult but opted for the New York Strip while my wife chose the Buffalo Shrimp. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp were plump and flavorful. Our sides were excellent. The dining room, though mostly full, wasn’t too loud though I could see it being a bit noisy if you were looking for a quiet place to dine. I would dine here again and would be happy to explore the menu"

"Service when we first arrived was good. After we were served our food our waiter completely ignored us. We couldn 't get our drinks refilled or any other amenities. We had to ask the busboy for a desert menu. My wife asked for a virgin drink from the bar. They refused to make any drinks without alcohol. They finally brought her a fruit punch non alcoholic drink that we were charged $14.00 for. She had 2 drinks at a cost of $28.00 for something similar to Hawaiian Punch. Another person in our party ordered a drink and asked to have it on the rocks . There was a $12.00 charge for the drink and a $2.00 charge on our bill for the ice that went into that drink. I 'm surprised they didn 't charge us for the coasters the drinks were set on. I ordered the house **** mary which came in a jar and was very good. Unfortunately that was the only part of the meal that was any good. The food was over priced and bland. The total bill for 3 people was $153.00. When the waiter brought back my change from $200.00 he proceeded to put the money on our table for about 2 seconds and then took the money and put it in his pocket without me telling him to keep the change. I had to demand that he return the money to the table. I would not recommend you go there unless you 're willing to eat bland food that is way over priced."

"I hate to have to write this and it was during the holidays, yet it was a horrible evening. When we arrived, I heard the manager offering apologies and a round of drinks to a group of 8. Already, I had a bad feeling. We sat in a back room (why it was so quiet) and were immediately notified by the neighbor table that they had been waiting over 1 hour for dinner. I had to walk through the restaurant to locate a server to take a drink/food order. Drinks came 20 min. later; food arrived 50 min later and this was after I walked back through the restaurant to find the manager who told me that they were down a cook and that everyone was sick including himself. Dinner immediately became less appetizing. When dinner finally did arrive, it was completely inedible. The food was just plain gross. None of our foursome ate anything. We paid, left and ordered a pizza on our way home. On the way out, we made the suggestion to the hostess stand to at least set expectations for their diners that due to the holidays/low staffing, that the wait is much longer than usual."

"This location is not to be missed. The service is always friendly and happy to help. While I've had their BBQ chopped pork (which is FANTASTIC) this time I had breakfast which is equally delicious. The grits are the perfect consistency. I asked for the scrambled eggs to be hard scrambled because I don't enjoy a runny yolk and they were cooked as requested. I requested for the bacon to be extra crispy but not burn. Again. As ordered. You don't get that level of service everywhere. I ordered a biscuit instead of toast and the biscuit was HUGE. They had plenty of jelly and apple butter on the table which I enjoyed on my biscuit. A nice size parking lot that gets full sometimes, but has enough available parking. Check this place out. You won't regret it."

"The food here is delicious. It's just that service is pretty slow. The line to order moves slowly as well as actually getting your food. I'm not sure if they need to hire more people or if it's just the process. The food is awesome. It's just hard to wait that long. It's literally a 2 minute walk from my job. I placed a togo order and waited and waited and waited. It took 17 minutes to get it! Once I got back to my office and ate it, the food was awesome. I ordered a chicken club w/fries. It was so yummy. It's one of the one places downtown that has fries but it might not be worth the wait. Unless I start calling it in."

"Avoid this place. Thus is the second time here and I can't find a single redeeming quality that keeps them in business.The food quality and execution has been bad both times we've been here. I ordered a Greek omelet and it was basically a fried scrambled egg disk. no feta, hardly any tomato, and there were potatoes in it for some reason. The coffee is awful and weak, their syrup is noticeably cheap and weird tasting.... the hash browns were under cooked last time I was here my pancakes came to the table twice still raw in the middle. it isn't even that cheap. Run, don't walk, away from here."

"The delivery driver was satisfactory. The food appeared a bit haphazardly assembled, but it did taste good. They often forget to add bacon to my burger, but since there's no extra charge for it, I don't mind too much. The food is tasty, but the dining area is quite cramped. You will likely end up bumping elbows or legs with someone else, as it gets busy very quickly. Additionally, the food is rarely ready by the promised time, so if you're picking up, I'd recommend waiting an extra 10-20 minutes after the suggested pickup time."
