"The server seemed oblivious to the fact that I barely touched half of one of my four burritos and hardly touched the beans and rice. He didn’t ask if anything was wrong or if I wanted a take-home container. In fact, he didn’t check on me at all after delivering my meal. I was cautious about eating much, thinking it might upset my stomach, so I pushed my plate aside and waited. Even at the bar, I received no attention. When I finally managed to get his attention to ask for my bill, he stood in front of me mixing drinks for 15 minutes before bringing me the check.
Having worked in food service during high school and college, I understand the challenges servers face. I only ask for a friendly demeanor and a genuine effort to provide good service. I usually tip generously, but I refuse to pay for both unsatisfactory food and a complete lack of service. My bill came to $23.42, and I left $24.00 on the table as I walked out. I don’t see myself returning anytime soon, if ever."
