"We started with the Cheese Board and some bread appetizers. The bread was served at room temperature, accompanied by butter and a plate of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The Cheese Board was delightful, featuring fontina, gorgonzola, and double-cream brie, along with truffled honey, candied walnuts, and about six crostini. The crostini were perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper and tasted very fresh. The cheeses were fantastic! However, I wish there had been a few more crostini to balance out the amount of cheese. The portion was just right for sharing between two people. For our main courses, we opted for the Pesto Linguini and the Eggplant Parmesan. The pesto tasted incredibly fresh, and I appreciated that all the pasta is handmade by Pasta Luego. The Eggplant Parmesan consisted of two crispy, breaded eggplant slices served on a bed of marinara spaghetti, and it was a generous portion! Both dishes were topped with a hefty amount of fresh parmesan, which I loved. We both nearly cleaned our plates. Then, we decided to indulge in dessert. We ordered the Dessert of the Day: Affogato Chocolate Paradiso, featuring a slice of their rich, creamy chocolate paradiso cake topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a sprinkle of sea salt. Ashley poured a shot of espresso over it at the table. My stomach was protesting with every bite, but my taste buds were captivated. It was so delicious! Overall, Abruzzi offers a more refined atmosphere than most restaurants in the Arcata area, with knowledgeable and dependable service and delectable dishes."

"I went for the first time today because someone recommended it to me. Wait for two other people and they sat me at a nice table at the window. First, the host/owner took a chair from my table, smiled and said he would just grab a chair. that was completely fine, as there were 5 chairs and I only needed 3, though I felt it? ve was more friendly to ask instead of telling me. a mother with two children came in and decided to play indoor design simulator, moving tables around and finally decided it wasn't good enough and she wanted my table. the hostess asked me to move what I thought was so rude and unprofessional. They would not have had the right to do that if the rest of my party had arrived, but because I was alone, they dragged me to the center of the restaurant. their explanation was that they came a bigger party so they needed to merge my table with a smaller one, but honestly they could very well merge the smaller table with the table in the middle to which they moved me. they were exactly the same size, they just didn't want to sit there. I sat on the new table with my back against the wall and the owners started teasing me over sitting in the back and asked if I don't sit more comfortably in one of the other seats. I would have been more comfortable if you didn't make me move tables unnecessary! I just paid for my drink and went, the strange backiness the owner was just idols and strange. if you have the need to crack jokes to the mood of what you? maybe just not."

"TLDR: AVOID the valet service like the plague! Lots of misses in this restaurant, but when you find a good dish it's really good. Order wisely! Overall rating: B- We made a reservation for 8 people for Sunday at 1pm via OpenTable. They advertise valet parking outside but actually finding/getting anyone to help you with your car is a NIGHTMARE. Twice when dropping off the car AND picking up the car, the valet looked my friend in the face and walked away! Both times I needed to go back into the restaurant to ask for the valet. My friend basically parked the car herself. All we needed was to give and get the key from a surly employee! If we didn't have someone with difficulties walking in our group we would've definitely parked further away to avoid this nonsense! The ambiance was pretty nice. Some of the food was better than others. Here's the break down: APPETIZERS: -Complimentary mixed bread basket and assorted olives: Delicious! A+ -Octopus special: I personally found this kind of fishy. Everyone else loved it. B- -Whole artichoke: It was just ok. I didn't find it particularly special. The breadcrumbs weren't crispy. B -Burrata special with roasted red peppers and asparagus over polenta: You can't go wrong with burrata. The vegetables were good. The polenta was forgettable. B+ -Mixed sauteed mushrooms: They tasted like mushrooms. Nothing special. B -Calamari with marinara: I really liked this. Others thought it tasted frozen. To each their own! A- ENTREES: -Lamb shank osso bucco over risotto special: I was really surprised how good this was! It wasn't a traditional osso bucco (cut thinly across the bone . It was a nicely braised whole lamb shank! I just wish they hadn't smothered the risotto in the lamb sauce. It was a good sauce but a bit salty. I just really wanted to taste the cheesy goodness of the risotto more. Best dish of the night! My friend who ordered the same thing agreed! A Here's what the others in my group ordered for their entrees. I didn't taste these myself so I can't rate them: -Swordfish special -Pappardelle with beef Bolognese -Squid ink pasta with mixed seafood special -Veal parmegiana with spaghetti -Whole dover sole fileted and plated tableside, option for sauce on the side -Scallops over risotto Everyone seemed to like their entrees EXCEPT for the swordfish, which was described as dry and not particularly fresh. DESSERTS: -Tiramisu: Excellent tiramisu. A -Cannolis: Wow actually damn good cannolis. You get 2 small ones per order. A+ -Coffee poured tableside: It was perfectly fine. B Lots of misses in this restaurant, but when you find a good dish it's really good. Order wisely! We'll probably come back since not many places in the area can accommodate last minute groups of 8 people. (No milk alternatives if that's your thing!"

"Nardi 's is one of the better-reviewed restaurants in the area and I was eager to see why. When we arrived, we saw from the signage that Nardi 's used to be known as Frankie and Johnny 's. In fact, when the employees answered the phone, they said Frankie and Johnny 's ! When we drove in, we noticed that the parking lot was surprisingly large for a small town restaurant. As we walked in, there were two separate dining rooms. We were seated in the one further to the back. We were a bit early for dinner but as time went by, the restaurant became crowded with large groups coming in. We didn 't know what to expect but wanted a sampling of everything. We ordered the mussels and fried calamari appetizer, a garlic angel hair pasta and a linguini and clam sauce entrees. We were offered a free large loaf of Italian bread with plenty of butter. What came out of the kitchen was an astounding feast, capable of feeding 6 people. Our party was only 3 persons. Every single dish we ordered was served in family sized portions, and best yet, in individual entrée prices! The mussels came with a delicious marinara sauce. The calamari was not only rings, but the actual tentacles, which is very rare for any restaurant to serve. The pasta dishes were cooked well with heaps of garlic and clams. We really loved everything about the restaurant. The tables were roomy and we weren 't elbow to elbow with the other diners. If you have a large family or group of diners, this restaurant is for you. You get value for money, great food and good service. I would come here again, but next time with a big group!"

"The last time I wrote a review concerning Italian cuisine, I referenced that the dish I had lacked character. To me, character in a meal means that it has to have multiple dimensions and qualities, something that brings out the best in a dish. At Forlini 's, when you order the Chicken Luigi, this is a dish that has lots of character, from the peppery chicken, to the porky sausage, to the aromatic garlic linguini, and then bring them all together to form one satisfying flavor. It is something that seems to lack in today 's Italian restaurants. They all want to try and be cute by going too original, or too zany. This one takes the risk by staying true to originality, but throws in a few sparks of uniqueness to make them stand out from just being that casual restaurant out of a Billy Joel song. The service is pretty typical of that, a down to earth owner who is more confident than a Wall Street banker that you will enjoy something. Intelligent, audacious, and an ability to understand what the customer wants without being too braggadocious about his offerings. It worked on me. It will be the best meal of your life. He said as he dropped the beautiful plate of food in front of me. Is it? No. But is it a good meal? No. It is a *great* meal. Try one piece of these succulent pieces of meat, and it will work well. Combine all three and throw in a few strings of pasta and you have to take another bite. When it gets too dense, eat a roasted red pepper that is in the sauce. It will clean out your pallet so you can reinvigorate yourself for that next bite. The portion size is so that you will be able to finish it all without feeling all the guilt that comes afterwards, so enjoy this with no shame. After all, it takes a lot of character to make such an experience here so special."
