"We've visited this restaurant numerous times over the years, mainly because there's usually no wait compared to the sushi places in San Mateo. While there are many solid dishes, we’ve occasionally encountered a few that seemed off (perhaps spoiled?). It always feels overpriced for what you receive. Unfortunately, during our most recent visit, the server was quite rude to our kids, chastising them for giggling at a volume similar to that of other diners' conversations. (Trust me, my kids have had tantrums before—this was not one of those instances.) On this visit, the lobster tempura, which had been fine before, was not up to par. We mentioned that it smelled like ammonia, which often indicates spoilage, but the staff simply refried it. Considering this restaurant charges $165 for an omakase experience that tastes noticeably worse than what you can find at comparable sushi places in San Mateo, I expect better quality and service."
