"When our food arrived, the waitress was delightful. However, upon tasting my chicken, I found it to have a peculiar flavor that was off-putting. Not wanting to spoil the joyful occasion, I tried to enjoy it. I asked my friend to try the chicken as well, and she also thought it tasted strange. The chicken lacked flavor and had a tough texture. I brought this to the waitress's attention, and she mentioned that other customers had complained about the chicken too. She kindly offered to replace my dish with haddock.
When my new meal arrived, it came with a small piece of haddock and the same vegetables as before. I distinctly recall a tiny black flake in the mashed potatoes, which still remained on the plate. To my surprise, I was charged the full price for the meal with no recognition of the issues I'd experienced.
A couple of weeks later, I emailed the owner to report my concerns. She explained that the chicken supplier had sent a batch that was only 80% good, with the rest being questionable in quality. She insisted that the vegetables would have been replaced but did not acknowledge that they were the same ones I had before. She dismissed my request for a discount, claiming that my needs as a customer had been met and that I should have been satisfied.
I feel that the service, food quality, and overall attention to customer satisfaction at Snowsquall were lacking. The owner seemed more concerned about her business's image than ensuring customer happiness. I hope this review helps those searching for a nice dining experience in the Portland, Maine area. There are plenty of great places to eat—unfortunately, Snowsquall is not one of them.
