"Came here for lunch on a saturday mainly because it's dog friendly. Got there around 230pm they sat us at a high chair area and that would have not worked well with our dog. So we asked them if we could get a bench. They said they would put us back on the list. So we sit outside and wait, and wait, and wait. It's almost 4pm and we see a BUNCH of tables open. We waited an hour just for a bench even though there was a bunch available. Very frustrating. When we finally sat down our server was very nicr and attentive. We were super hungry at that point so got a pretzel and out entrees ordered. I got the pierogi with kielbasa. My bf got the chopped beef sandwich. So the pretzel was DELICIOUS. I would order 3 of those, plus the beer cheese sauce yum. Everything else to me was meh. Pierogis were too much and not that good. It was a lot on the plate that didnt work well. So we orderes the tator tots as well loaded. Those were okay, kind of soggy but good flavor at least. The pretzel to me was the best thing and if we came back that's all i'd get. My boyfriend loved his sandwich and most of the food. The rose I got was deliciois. Atmosphere was okay, very loud with games and things going on. But lots of pups so love that Overall its a meh for me. i'd only ever go back for the pretzel and rose. It's also in a sketch neighborhood. Wouldn't feel safe going at night. Was an adventure overall."

"Cute and cozy authentic German restaurant with big plates! I met a friend here for breakfast because she loves the food here. It was PACKED for breakfast, and the parking lot is teeny tiny. I circled around twice, but unfortunately no spaces opened up, so I drove down the block and parked at the bank in the next plaza and walked over. The inside of the diner is incredibly small, but the staff works hard to get food out fast. Do not try to seat large parties here, unless you eat outside. I think the largest size table is a 4-top, and there is not a lot of walking room between tables. I ordered a breakfast plate that included 2 Eggs made your way, Corned Beef Hash, and your choice of Potatoes (home fries or hash) or Grits and Toast. I got the hash made extra crispy, and I LOVED it! You can see the pieces of shredded potatoes and taste the freshness of your food when you eat it. The corned beef hash was well seasoned, but cooked a bit on the mushy side for my taste. Next time, I will ask for it cooked well done for my personal preference. I also got a side of French Toast because I know they would be freshly made. The toast was HUGE and so fluffy! I loved it. It wasn't caked in sugars or flour, but fresh egg and not too soggy. I drizzled some syrup on it and finished the whole plate! I had an excellent meal at Cypress Nook, and I will definitely be back! The staff was friendly and very attentive. My coffee cup was always full because someone was always making rounds and checking on the diners. They even knew my friend by name because she often eats there. I would love to come back for dinner and try some German food. Cypress Nook takes cash and card, but use your registered credit card for Yelp Cash Back!"

"Okay pretzels, okay wings. Nice location, but muted flavorsUConn tends to be a bit crazy when school is in session. So we were looking for good food to try that was a little more off the beaten path. This place had some rave reviews, so we decided to give this place a go.The restaurant was moderately busy, had outdoor seating on a beautiful day. We got a smattering of their dining options: A Stuffed Pretzel, a Hops dog, Some of their famous wings, and some pretzel oreos. One thing that you learn quickly is this location loves it 's wings and pretzels. It proudly announces that it 's the runner-up from hartford magazine 's best wings for two years running. So the bar was set high, as was the price point. They also had a good chunk of their menu dedicated to their pretzel offerings. So it seemed like this place would be able to put out very good pretzels and wings. They were not bad, but not great either. Very ho-hum.The hops dog hot dog was good, the pretzel was lacking the golden sheen and salt one would expect from this type of dog. We get a beer cheese sauce, which was lacking the beer and cheese flavor. The stuffed pretzel was more like a bread bowl with two pretzel tines across it. the flavors inside were good, if anything there was some gristly chicken bits and not that much bacon flavor. The wings were small, and the wings were sticky, sweet, and a pretty good barbeque sauce. However, any semblance of heat that the buffalo sauce provided was lost. Which is something the wings really needed: it needed spice. The pretzel oreos were sweet but very one note. I was hoping for a sweet and salty combo, maybe even some buttery notes. but they put both powered sugar and cocoa powder on top of them which made the experience much harder to enjoy.as a food location, it 's not bad but not great either. It 's fine if you 're looking for a quick meal, but everything needed some seasoning and some minor execution tweaks to make everything tasty."
