"Honestly, we are retired, have travelled the world, lived in the Bay Area most of our lives, eat out a lot, and this is perhaps our favorite restaurant. Though we are meat eaters, they make vegetarian food a delight (great use of mushrooms and artichokes, among other things). They are reminiscent of the French and Italian out-of-the-way gems, the way they are tasty, relatable, reasonably priced, create anticipation/atmosphere, and make you feel at home. The menu varies nicely and yes, they make wine fun not snobby. I fear also that my love for this place is a 180 from what I fear many Bay Area restaurants have become, sort of pretentious wannabe southern European, overpriced with small portions, $17 glasses of wine, 20% mandatory tips and snooty service. We were once producers of farm to table free-range eggs, beef, and milk, and its been interesting to see people take that beyond the relatable (and affordable), the La Bodega Kitchen people have got it all exactly right."
