"A disappointing experience for what we were expecting at a restaurant at this price point. We were there to celebrate a family member’s milestone birthday. On arrival we were not greeted warmly — in fact, we were not greeted at ALL. Eventually we were seated at our table where we waited . . . and eventually received menus. Eventually too, our drink and very subsequently our meal orders were taken, by staff that was functional but never personable or warm. Menus choices are basically “old stalwarts” and certainly “innovative” is not the aim for the establishment. This aspect was not unexpected on our parts. Food also was UNEVEN. Those who ordered soups found the temperature barely warm. The beef Wellington was perfectly executed though I would have preferred a mushroom filling to the liver pâté, however those of us who ordered the crab stuffed filets found them all mediumwell rather than mediumrare as ordered. Au gratin potatoes were bland. The pianist was talented, but the volume of the music was sufficiently loud as to make cross table conversation all but impossible and we were not exactly in close proximity to the piano. Thankfully, owing to the glacial pace of the meal, the performer finished his evening’s engagement about the time the main course’s dishes were cleared, so we could finally converse. Restaurant decor was staid and would benefit from a fresh interpretation along with pretty much EVERYTHING else about this dining experience"

"I'm is coarse a fan of the downtown pub with a brick walls and me classic oldies on the radio so... I especially enjoyed the environment. The only caveat about this restaurant is that they don't open till 4:30 on Friday and Saturdays so keep that in mind when planning your dinner time out... but know it's worth the wait. The staff is also very welcoming and friendly, and although they don't open till 4:30 when the sun is trying to set in the spring and they tried to set us by the window in the blinding setting sun... We ended up at a high-top table near the bar that was comfy and still fairly quiet but also near the central hub of activity. For an appetizer we started with the sausage and cheese dip. It was delish, my husband liked all the meat and cheese and I like the fresh bits of onion and tomato that garnish the center and for me balanced out the richness of the sausage and cheese dip. I got a sweet tea with lemons because I prefer an Arnold Palmer that's not mixed with high fructose corn syrup of fake lemonade... The sweet tea in and of itself was pretty great considering I don't usually enjoy the overly sweet and Southern style sweet teas served in the south... but this was very nicely balanced with the strong bitterness of the black tea against the light sweetness of the sugar. My tea went extremely well with the the great oyster house burger and those perfectly crispy double fried seasoned french fries. I would prefer the burger without the fried onion strings as I think they just added a lot of grease and not a whole lot of flavor. But otherwise having to eat a well done burger due to pregnancy, I found it still perfectly juicy and delicious. My husband got a Seasonal Sam Adams on tap that paired nicely with his fresh raw Blue Point Oysters from Prince Edwards Island. He especially liked the horseradish paired with the oysters. Our waitress Katie excellent, not overly attentive but kept an eye out for when if we needed anything. Overall I would recommend this place and definitely come back another time."
