"My wife and I went to the Grand Tier restaurant for a pre-opera dinner two days ago. I must say that my negative review is not based on the food, which was delicious, but on the service, which was disappointingly poor for a high-end establishment. We were barely seated for two minutes before the waiter was already pushing us to order wine. He returned shortly after to pressure us into selecting the 3-course meal and drinks. It felt as though he was rushing us through our dining experience, and we had to ask him to give us some space. Despite not even having our wine or first course yet, we were already feeling disheartened by what was supposed to be a special evening. Though the restaurant was busy, there was no personal touch from any of the staff; the overall atmosphere was cold, robotic, and hurried. Our meal, including three courses, wine, coffee, and settling the bill, was completed in just 1.5 hours, even though we had ample time before the opera. The lack of breaks between courses only added to our disappointment. Overall, our first and only experience at the Grand Tier was a letdown for a high-end establishment. Throughout our five-day stay in New York, we dined at various restaurants, all less expensive than this one, and found the staff at Grand Tier to be the least friendly by far. My recommendation to the manager would be to open the restaurant at 6:00 instead of 6:30 to allow guests up to 2.5 hours to enjoy a leisurely three-course meal before the performance. This is a reasonable request given the restaurant's prices and the cost of opera tickets. Additionally, the staff should strive to be more personable and show genuine care for their guests beyond just their money."

"Wow! Super disappointed. We have always wanted to try The Palm and decided to go this year for our anniversary. We were greeted and sat right away as we had a reservation. Our server brought bread, which was fine, nothing special and then the server recommmended the crabcake appetizer. The crabcake was also just fine. Nothing special for $27. The crabmeat on top was fresh and that was the highlight, of the night. My husband ordered a dry aged Kansas city strip recommended by the server. Dry is right, and chewy, like a $70 piece of beef jerky. The real downfall was my meal, I ordered the Sea Bass Oscar as soon as I saw the plate, I could see that my fish was over broiled and dry, for $52! I am pretty sure it was also frozen. The sides were ok (au gratin potatoes needed salt green beans). This was about the time we realized, this is a bust, we did not bother to complain, or have dessert, we paid and got out of there and determined the night a $300 mistake. What a bummer. Update: the manager Leo, invited us back free of charge. Our server Angela was knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered all different options this time. We started with the calamari this time and it was good. Amazing, no. But good. My husband got the ribeye and I got the center cut filet Oscar for entrees and the macaroni and cheese as a side. Every bit of this was excellent and cooked perfectly. We finished with the zeppole dessert which was also perfect. I will say, The Palm made it up to us to be sure. I see now that it does have the potential to live up to its name perhaps with a few off nights which we must’ve initially experienced. We have universal pass holders. So I foresee we will visit again with family and try them again."

"Update to the response from the restaurant…I don’t think you read my review, because you did not meet my expectations.Went here on a Wednesday night to celebrate a birthday with two other people while in DC. Had reservations. Hostess and maitre d were very friendly. The place is clean and lively. Assistant waiter came over and filled our water glasses. Only interaction with him was to say hello and thank you. No response from him to either statement. That fact and the look on his face made me feel like our presence was a nuisance. We didn’t even ask him for anything. Waiter was great, but clearly over-worked. He was running around the entire time we were there. Don’t know if someone called in sick or if they are short-staffed in general. They put two large tables together behind us for a larger group. A few minutes later, another waiter came over and started pushing our table away from that table…out of no where…no warning. Not cool but we rolled with it. But then the guy continuously bumped into one of us as he moved between our table and the larger table they had put together. Over and over again. I guess he should have pushed us more. It stopped when he caught an elbow. Totally unintentional…the elbow was only nine years old, but it seemed to do the trick. When we first ordered drinks, our waiter offered to have some “American Idol rejects” come and sing happy birthday. I told him that would be great. We had dinner. The salmon was incredible. Cooked perfectly. The filet was under-cooked, but great. The lobster tail was over-cooked and chewy. The mac n’ cheese side was a mistake to order. After ordering dessert he broke the news that they were too busy to sing happy birthday. I could tell they were cranking, so no big deal…but, two of us went to the restroom and when we got back, the owner of the nine-year-old elbow told us that while we were gone for five minutes, they had sung happy birthday to the table next to us. ??? Really? …ok. Dessert was 10 out of 10.I went here a few years ago (before covid) with a DC regular and the service was over all much, much better. But to be clear, our waiter was great. It was the assistant waiter and the body-check waiter that weren’t."
