"I have been a regular at Portland City Grill for many years, appreciating its ambiance and dining offerings. However, my recent visit for my parents' 48th wedding anniversary was notably disappointing, a stark contrast to previous experiences. Our evening felt uncomfortably rushed. Even as we were still enjoying our meals, the bus staff began clearing our plates, some of which still had food on them. This rushed service detracted significantly from our ability to enjoy our special family occasion at a leisurely pace. Additionally, a major letdown was the temperature of the food. When our dishes arrived, they were cold. I specifically requested that my potatoes be warmed up, and although the staff did provide a new serving, the replacement was, unfortunately, also cold. This was particularly disheartening as the reasonable prices usually reflect not just the quality but also the proper service and presentation of the food. Furthermore, the total bill for our dinner amounted to over $800, which compounded our disappointment given the issues with service and food temperature. For such a significant expenditure, one expects both the food and the service to be impeccable. Overall, this experience did not meet the standard I have come to expect from Portland City Grill, especially given the significance of the occasion. I hope this incident is an anomaly and not indicative of a downward trend in service and quality."

"This was our first experience at Bill of Fare, and we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. My fiancé ordered the Gyro Benedict, which came with generous portions of gyro meat. I opted for the Swedish pancakes topped with lingonberry filling and strawberries, complemented by coffee for both of us. Just as we were about to leave, owner George stopped by our table to check on our service. He shared the story of his grandfather's Greek yogurt recipe from Crete and asked if we had ever tried it. Since we hadn't, he kindly prepared a sample for us, which is showcased in the picture. It was, without a doubt, the best Greek yogurt I've ever tasted — rich and creamy, enhanced with fresh honey and fruit, making it absolutely delicious. You can also buy this yogurt to go, and I ended up purchasing one to take home. I highly recommend Bill of Fare for its excellent food, ample indoor and outdoor seating, attentive servers, and great management. I will definitely be returning!"

"It's always fun and lovely to see themed restaurants and cafes. I quite enjoyed looking at bears from every angle! I was super stoked when I saw that the sugar packets and even the ketchup had been branded with the bears!!! We had breakfast food anddefinitely could not finish it. I ordered the volcano pancakes, my stomach was ordering for me. The pancakes were pretty denseand was mediocre for the price. Eggs, bacon and hasbrowns were about the same too. Although the bacon was nice and thick butstill crispy which is what I liked. They had a bear mascot came out and gave me a hug which ultimately made my day! Definitelywould try out this place if you're looking to eat lots and just enjoy the atmosphere. Bring someone who loves bears!!!"

"I made a reservation for my son's birthday lunch at this restaurant. The downstairs dining area was lovely, but we opted to sit inside because it was a little cold in the back garden. The mussels were amazing, and there were multiple dishes featuring Belgian waffles as their base on the menu. We tried two different kinds and they were both fantastic. Be sure to try the Belgian beer on tap as well."

"I took my family out for a nice lunch. We have never had an issue here until today. If I could give ZERO stars for atmosphere I would and I will explain why. While sitting at our table we overhead one of the servers yelling across the restaurant talking about my wife and saying how she was an awful person because my wife is the animal control officer for Havelock city limits. The discussion continued for almost 10 minutes of her just bashing my wife which caused our entire table to be so upset we could not finish our food. It affected us so much that I went to the counter to ask for the manager. It turns out the server bashing and lying about my wife is the current manager on the clock, Lisa. I obviously did not bring it up because she wouldn’t have done anything because she is the one who we were having a problem with. I am beyond disgusted with the treatment we received here. I have never experienced a manager as immature, arrogant, unprofessional, rude, extremely loud, and lack of situational awareness like this before. She does not deserve to have this position for the simple fact she was speaking like this in front of customers. She’s allowed to have her opinion about my wife because that comes with the job as a public servant but to do this in front of customers is not okay. I will be calling later for the next in line supervisor or the owner because this situation needs to be handled correctly."

"Avoid this place. Thus is the second time here and I can't find a single redeeming quality that keeps them in business.The food quality and execution has been bad both times we've been here. I ordered a Greek omelet and it was basically a fried scrambled egg disk. no feta, hardly any tomato, and there were potatoes in it for some reason. The coffee is awful and weak, their syrup is noticeably cheap and weird tasting.... the hash browns were under cooked last time I was here my pancakes came to the table twice still raw in the middle. it isn't even that cheap. Run, don't walk, away from here."

"The inside of GrandLux Cafe is beautiful and elegant looking. The service is excellent; we chose 2 of our waitress' favorite dishes: Spicy Ginger Beef (which my mother said the meat was very tender and delicious) and Vodka Pasta with the substitution of adding mushrooms, spinach, salmon instead of the typical meats that come on the dish..... it was DELICIOUS! "This restaurant was absolutely fantastic; we ended up dining here twice during our vacation, which is something we never do! The Tri-Tip Dip Sandwich, piled high with fried onions, was so delicious that it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. My husband had an open-faced turkey sandwich paired with redskin mashed potatoes and homemade biscuits. Talk about comfort food! The breakfast we had the next day was incredible too. "My husband enjoys the diverse menu, and I'm a big fan of the harvest pancakes—definitely a must-try! The Sunday breakfast staff is friendly and works efficiently to ensure your food arrives quickly. Our waitress checked in on us frequently, attending to our first and last bites, and offered us more hot water whenever we needed it, as well as take-out boxes when we were full. Their fresh orange juice and selection of teas are always delightful. We often have leftovers, and those harvest pancakes make a delicious sandwich the next day. We'll be returning for sure!"

"They don’t take reservations, but the restaurant is quite spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles for brunch; the portions are massive and delicious. The Pot Roast Cheese Fries are also generous, with tender meat, but my absolute favorite has to be the double stuffed potato spring rolls—imagine mashed potatoes in egg roll form. They are incredibly tasty and might not be the healthiest choice, but they are definitely worth trying. On the other hand, I wasn’t particularly impressed with the French dip sandwich. The pastas and fish and chips are good, but I found the salad portions excessive and the Southwestern salad to be overwhelming with too many ingredients and not enough greens. When it comes to dessert, that’s where this place really shines. The strawberry shortcake is fantastic, as is the butter cake. I would happily return just for the desserts. Overall, I enjoy the appetizers and desserts the most during my visits, but I haven't yet found a lunch or dinner entrée that matches the quality of the other dishes."

"We stopped here based on others reviews that said the food here was good. Well let me tell you, the food was AMAZING! I ordered the Volcano pancakes with bacon and eggs. It was enough food to feed an Army and the pancakes were so big and fluffy. I don’t know their secret to making t their pancakes that fluffy but they definitely have some little trick to it. My daughter got the cinnamon roll French toast and gobbled down every last bite. My son had their burgers and fries and said it was a “10 out of 10”. My hubby ordered the Bear Paw chicken fried steak with mash and gravy and garlic parmesan toast. He said the steak was tender and well seasoned and the sides were excellent as well. I would 100% return to this Diner if ever given the opportunity in the future."

"I have stopped at this diner 3 days in a row for breakfast. Had the country ham, pancakes and western omelette. The home fries with a little onion added are awesome. The waitstaff here is top notch, quick to take your order and constantly refilling your drinks. Prices are a blast from the past and portions are no where lacking. Would definitely recommended this as a stop and would definitely return and make it a daily or weekly ritual if lived locally."

"I went there for breakfast first thing in the morning and wished they opened about half an hour earlier. The food was excellent, with great options and quick service. "Had the special california breakfast burrito. It was missing its refried beans, salsa, and the requested medium steak was very well done. Service was great. Radio was loud in the front and then a movie was turned on and the sound from that with the radio and the crowd plus being near the kitchen was a bit much. But again service is amazing and our other food was great."
