"My aunt and I had lunch at Happy Sumo yesterday. My dad and uncle had been there the day before and recommended it, so I was expecting a good experience. I ordered the seafood tempura ($15), while my aunt opted for the samurai steak ($19). Although both dishes had decent flavor, I felt they were overpriced. There was no miso soup or salad offered with our meals, and the rice portion on my plate was just a small scoop—so I ended up ordering more. They charged me $3 for an extra bowl of rice! My dad had the same meal the previous day, but he received rice in a bowl and a salad with his order. By the end of our lunch, the bill for two people exceeded $50. You can get the same quality food for just $20 at Tokyo Teriyaki. If you're looking for authentic high-end Japanese cuisine, I recommend trying Domo downtown instead. Overall, Happy Sumo doesn't feel like a real Japanese restaurant. Signed by a genuine Japanese male."

"I would have given 5 stars simply for the service. Wish I had taken the name of our server. She was attentive, timely. Checked in often and with great timing. Felt really spoiled. Never had a need really as she was so on top of everything. Rolls were just okay. Overpriced in my opinion. Nothing spectacular. Maybe decent at best. But her service really made up for the lack of love with the rolls. Wasabi was horrible. I like a hot spice and added an insane amount of wasabi yet no flavor to it and no spice. Maybe they can't help that, though. I honestly compared the rolls to that of grocery store rolls for twice the price at least. Only ordered rolls though, maybe the other menu items offered more, I can't know that . I've definitely had worse, and also much, much better for less of a ticket price. 104$ for 4 rolls and 2 bottles of medium quality saki. Spent money much better elsewhere. The service earned the stars here, or else rolls were a 2 on their own."

"When we arrived restaurant was almost empty and it was concerning for us considering it was 6:30. We sat at sushi bar very nice sushi chefs behind counter as well as servers. Hamachi Nigiri very good and fresh. Edamame ice cold likely taken out of freezer crackling tempura shrimp roll spicy but no spice at all. Had a spicy rainbow roll with the sear on top no spice and it seemed a little fishy tasting. Overall a 3 for food and a 5 for service."

"Stopped in for quick lunch before an appt. at a nearby optometrist. I was greeted quickly, and waved to sit down. The booths and tables were all occupied so I sat at the sushi bar. I ordered the Chicken Katsu Lunch Box, as it sounded good. Combination plate with some Tempura, Chicken Katsu, some slices of a basic sushi roll, a couple of gyoza and a ginger salad. Miso soup also. It was delivered quickly. Everything was good... the chicken katsu was a little overcooked maybe, and needed more katsu sauce... but it was good. Tempura was tasty, Miso soup was good, the tiny slices of sushi were yummy. I will be back as I want to try some of the rolls. I did ask the sushi chef if they had Toro, and he indicated they did not. Not sure if they were out of it, or just normally don't stock it since it is a higher end product."
