"As a local who has dined at Hege's many times since it opened around 20 years ago, I can confidently say it is the best upscale restaurant on Johns Island, Kiawah, and Seabrook, as well as outside of downtown Charleston. I would place it among the top 10 in the entire region. There may be some debate around this, especially since downtown boasts several world-class establishments. However, many of the negative reviews seem to stem from walk-in guests who didn't secure a reservation. It's essential to book your table days or even weeks in advance, including spots at the bar. Don't expect to be seated without a reservation!"
