The food was excellent, and Aaron, our server, was outstanding. This is one of our favorite restaurants at Kiawah, and we will definitely be back!

I went to this restaurant for a family Thanksgiving dinner, and unfortunately, we all ended up feeling ill afterward. The food was really disappointing—terrible, in fact. I wouldn't recommend going there. View menu

Great atmosphere, food is delightful gracious staff! Michaela, TJ, Jackson we’re all fantastic. TJ had fantastic wine recommendations for our group and Michaela went above and beyond serving our group. Recommend the short rib!

Our experience at Hege’s made our trip! Michaela at the bar was excellent, she made us feel like family and it was so fun to see her relationship with the locals! Tj recommended amazing wine his knowledge was 10/10. The food was top notch and everyone there made it the perfect evening.

Excellent dinner. Cleaned up the table in a timely manner. Service was good. Waiter was a nice gentleman. The vibe inside was perfect. Definitely recommend going there. Food options are delicious, I had French onion soup and roasted duck breast. The entree was superb, with Brussels sprouts, candied yams and duck breast sliced with a berry type compote. View menu

My husband and I tried to walk in to have a cocktail at the bar. Was told that there were reservations for the bar. (There was one couple there. we spoke to the second hostess about seats- and the first told her no- shaking her head aggressively. The second hostess said sorry. Reservation only. I’m pretty certain they didn’t like our looks as I went online and there were tons of reservations available for the bar. Glad I didn’t waste my money.

Be careful dealing with them. I recently made a reservation for Hege's using Resy, earlier that day, had to cancel it. Provided 3 hour notice prior to seating. They even thanked me for notifying them. Later that evening, my CC was charged $125 by Hege's. Contacted Richard Hege and he indicated it's their policy, I was aware of it thru RESY, so too bad. As a local who has dined at Hege's many times since it opened around 20 years ago, I can confidently say it is the best upscale restaurant on Johns Island, Kiawah, and Seabrook, as well as outside of downtown Charleston. I would place it among the top 10 in the entire region. There may be some debate around this, especially since downtown boasts several world-class establishments. However, many of the negative reviews seem to stem from walk-in guests who didn't secure a reservation. It's essential to book your table days or even weeks in advance, including spots at the bar.
