"All I know is that after one lunch here this is going to be a place I come back to for the rest of my life despite it being a 2 hour drive for me. I am vegan and have never really experienced a Mexican restaurant that gives you that traditional feelwhile still having plenty of non traditional options to eat. Rightfully so as well since I know many locations and recipes useanimal products and their beans and rice And that's how they've done it for a long time! I was so pleasantly surprised whenlooking at restaurants in the area to stumble across Cocina de Carlos. We went on a Friday afternoon and we're set immediately.I ordered the vegano combo and it was incredible. The beans and rice were probably the best I've ever had at any restaurant.The avocado was fresh, the vegan queso was out of this world, the salsa and chips that come for free before your meal were evenbetter. After two margaritas and a plate full of INCREDIBLE food, I left a very happy woman."

"The food here is excellent, especially because they add a nice kick of heat. I personally enjoy the Tex-Mex spice level more than the milder offerings at many Mexican restaurants. The tamale was quite large, but it definitely needed the accompanying sauce. The taco and beef enchilada were both tasty, and I was pleasantly surprised that the beans had a bit of spice as well. The cheese dip is my favorite in the area; it has the perfect consistency, is all cheese, and has just the right amount of heat. The service was decent, and the atmosphere was pleasant."

"This place is right on. Food is Great,drinks are good and service is always there when needed. Tammy the bartender is cool. I am waiting for them to open their newly remodeled bar. She serves now but will soon be back behind the bar. Great place to eat and chill. I love the patio."

"Salsa is very runny and difficult to eat and refried beans were very much mush but the drinks were good and the chips. Overall value, taste and service were great and I would come back again. I've eaten here many times over the years and will return"

"The waiter was super nice but we had to ask to take a margarita off the bill after it tasted like pure syrup and did not drink it at all. The quesadilla came as just a big floppy folded tortilla and wasn't even cut in half. The enchilada sauce tastes like Spaghetti-O sauce, which was a gourmet treat if I was 7. The presentation of the food is just kind of sad, and the ambience makes you feel like you're in the middle of a cruise ship with not being able to look outside."

"The residents here are fantastic, but the new management has diminished the overall experience by slashing costs wherever they can, especially concerning food and international events. The new director, Shaun Carver, has completely undermined the vibrant atmosphere of the international house by cancelling all the social and cultural events that used to bring residents together. Furthermore, the dining hall now pales in comparison to what it used to be. Overall, the value of staying at I-house has significantly declined, and I’m very disappointed!"

"Great experience at Mayan Cafe. We sat outside, which was really nice given how dense it is inside the restaurant. Food was good, nothing spectacular. Everything was really beautiful and service was good as well. I will say that the food was pretty, but didn?t taste as great as it looked visually. Chips were amazing and the most unique ?dish? we tried. The appetizers were a bit small for the prices. The entrees were decent. Overall, we might return, but there are better places to be had in Louisville honestly."
