"Everyone knows that Golden Krust offers below-average Jamaican food, but the experience at this location was particularly disappointing. I cannot recommend ordering oxtail from here under any circumstances. I was really hungry and have a fondness for oxtail, but even the large portion contained only about four pieces of meat, and I struggled to finish it. The flavor was unusual, almost like it had been seasoned with cilantro. The meat itself was dry and tough. Instead of a rich oxtail gravy, it was just oil. The steamed vegetables were heavily seasoned with cilantro instead of the traditional thyme. Additionally, the white rice was crispy and lacked flavor (I had ordered spinach rice, but they overlooked that request)."

"Located at the NW corner of the Farmers Market food pavilion, this meat/veg counter is an easy way to get way outside of your food "box" w/o wasting $50 & 3 hours. While I opted for the spicy but not overly hot beef tips, there were several fishes, goat, & oxtail to choose from. The veggies were more limited in scope & more traditionally Southern. The presence of several vegetarian "entrees" slightly confused my choosing. Opt for the Jonny cake over the cornbread. This is like a giant hush puppy, but the interior is flaky like a biscuit. Very effective at soaking up the extra gravy."

"I ordered the goat curry served with rice and beans, along with some cabbage and asked for some plantains to add on. The woman at the counter was incredibly accommodating (I regrettably forgot to get her name). Once I got home and dug into my meal, I was blown away. The seasoning was just right, and the meat was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The gravy was definitely the highlight for me; I could really taste the depth of flavor. Great job, BLAZE718! I'm eagerly looking forward to trying the cow feet curry next. I highly recommend you give this place a try!"

"I've been going here for years..mostly because they're the only place that sells decent West Indian food in the area. I suspect the business has survived because of a lack of competition. I've never had a bad food experience with them and have no issueswith the quality of the food. My chief issue is that they do not offer online ordering. The location is in a very busy part ofNew Brunswick so parking is always a problem. They went to a cash-only model, which is really antiquated. Thank goodness there'sa bank right across the street. A lot of the negative reviews about in-person customer service, parking and wait times can besolved by allowing people to order using Uber Eats, DoorDash, etc. P.S. the spotty availability of plantain for a West Indianeatery is truly shocking."

"6 months ago me and my husband came here for the 1st time in the daytime,it was extremely busy and we had never eaten Jamaican food before but we were extremely rushed to order so we just walked out with not even ordering. This evening I passed by there myself and although each person working there was attentative when not on their cell phones(men) I seen on their daily specials curry shrimp,upon placing my order he asked me do I want it spicy and I said NO only a little bit. That was literally all I ordered with a side of MacNCheese which is to die for,so amazing but they only had 2 slivers of it in the Pan.1 hour and 1/2 until closing so there is no reason why there should not have been another Pan prepared.If you see in the picture this is the small piece that I got for $4 now that is just insane although delicious I come to you guys because I personally don 't know how to cook MacNcheese worth of s . So me starving and had not ate all day I was so excited to get home but just one bite of shrimp put my mouth on fire it was extremely spicy so I 'm not sure why I had the option for it to be NOT spicy if they were just gonna cook it how they always cook it so therefore I was not able to eat it at all. Due to this I will not be back,sorry!"

"Nice little place up on 97 street near Mount Sinai. I was surprise they have a little seating counter inside and table outside. The food looked good and priced not bad. I had to try the Jamaican patties and the best I have had, nice size too and the crust was really flavorful. I will be going back for a good lunch soon . They have a really nice menu and lots of choices to for drinks. It's a nice neighborhood place and the owner seems to be nice. Can't wait to return"

"The food was outstanding! Even two days later, I still enjoyed the rice I picked at. I definitely overindulged, trying everything from the oxtail to the patties, Ruck Burger, fries, and wings. I was surprised to find that the wings were house-cut, but they were delicious, almost like extra crispy crackers. Though I didn’t go inside, I heard that the staff was very friendly. When we ordered last Thursday, they were quite busy, but we remained patient, and it was more than worth it. My mom said the patties were so good that she would only want one for lunch. It was a hit with the whole family!"

"I ordered the callaloo and codfish breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious and arrived on time. My only issue was with the app, which only offers two options: with dumplings or with bananas. I wish there were more choices, like the option to have both or other ground provisions. However, I was able to leave a note in the additional comments, and it worked perfectly! They included dumplings, bananas, sweet potato, and pumpkin. Yum!"

"First, be aware that not all food is available for walk-in customers. Most entrees need to be ordered in advance and are cooked to order, which was disappointing since I was hoping to try callaloo saltfish. However, we adapted and chose from the ready-made options, including jerk chicken, curry goat, brown stew chicken, and patties. The curry goat was well-prepared, although it could have used a bit more curry. It was tender and flavorful, and I appreciated the extra gravy served over my rice. The patty and cabbage were decent, but the collard greens were inedible; we all tried them and found them far too spicy—almost unbearably so."

"I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant! As someone married to a Jamaican and familiar with authentic Jamaican cuisine, I can confidently say that this place did not deliver. My meal was stale and tasted like it had been sitting around for too long, probably hoping to trick some unsuspecting tourists. Trust me, there are far better Jamaican options out there! It really frustrates me to have paid for such a subpar meal, and I definitely won't be returning. Furthermore, a warm greeting like "How can I assist you?" or even just a simple "Hello" would have been much more appropriate than the indifferent "What do you want?" On top of that, I didn't hear a single "thank you" from the staff, only from other patrons. It's unbelievable!"

"I use to love this place but every time ive gotten a drink (iced coffee or matcha) it tastes like 99% milk. IveIordered the iced matcha and the drink was hardly even green. Just BARELY which is insane. I was too upset to even leave a review and figured it was another bad day. I ordered the donuts just to add on to avoid a delivery fee cause why not and these things are tinier than my already small hands and taste raw. Very gross. Only thing that I hang on to is the chorizo wrap which is amazing but this place has disappointed me too many times for the price point or the trip. Super sad."

"I will next time order from a Mom and Pop store. The oxtail came with inly 4 pces of which was very fatty amd way too sweet. The curry chicken was 3 small pces of cut off from a leg and or quarter mostly bones. The jerk Chicken was not jerk at all. Not good at all. Its amazing to me when these franchises open they do so well and get a lot of customers. Then for some reason they scale back. They need to keep in mind that its the customers that keep them open, so in turn it does them a great disservice to not provide good food. Will not order from here anymore especially for the price it cost."

"The 'small' portion was surprisingly generous, and at just $7.50 for dinner and $5.99 for lunch, it's a fantastic deal. It's worth noting that this is primarily a take-out spot; while there are a few booths and small tables, you'll be served in takeout containers, and drinks must be purchased separately. As a bonus, the two ladies working there were very friendly!"

"Huge Servings of Fresh Hot Food I used to order Jamaican food from Golden Krust all the time before I became vegan, however, I had never actually been to the restaurant until today. The place was clean, and the staff was friendly. I had the plant based beef patty and a side of cabbage. My colleagues had the Brown Stew Chicken and Oxtails and they loved their meals. This place always gives huge servings of food as well. From many prior food deliveries and a visit to the restaurant today, Golden Krust is definitely worth stopping by. Highly Recommended. 5 Stars!"

"I used to visit this restaurant frequently until the owner sold it. After that, the prices skyrocketed while the quality of the food declined. I started going to Stonecrest instead. Recently, I decided to give this place another chance. During my visit, I noticed a large man in the kitchen and was pleased to find that all the food I tried was good and fresh. However, when I returned less than a week later, the food was dry and there were limited options available. I went back again yesterday and took some photos—once again, the food looked dry and unappetizing. I asked one of the staff members when the food is at its best, and she told me around 5 PM, but I close my business at that time and noted that GC closes at 8 or 9 PM. If you come after 5 PM, she warned, you won’t get the best food. I suggested they close earlier, but ultimately, I left, unwilling to spend $30 to $40 on food that isn't worth eating. My three-star rating is based on my first visit."

"Caribbean Teeze is a tease that does not deliver. Not to disrespect any age group, but to make a point; I will make this analogy. Have you ever seen a video of a young woman from the back walking, and she’s got it going on; then she turns around and faces you and she’s a a toothless wrinkled 100 year old woman? That is Caribbean Teeze. The curry goat was too spicy and had a mucky texture. The rice was not cooked appropriately and at times the texture tasted like it was scooped from the bottom of the pot. AND THIS WAS NEW YEARS NIGHT! The aging DJ was past his prime spinning soft yankee hit from the early 70’s. In my opinion he should have been fired for the unforgivable sin of NOT hyping up the crowd when the 2025 countdown began. He absolutely MISSED ushering in the new year. Another man had to get up, stop him, and apologize to the patrons who had paid a cover charge to enter the establishment for the new year.. I was so disappointed, I left Caribbean Teeze shortly afterwards. That being said will I go back? Will I recommend them? A resounding NO is my answer. Dietary restrictions: There was pork in the red peas soup Kid-friendliness: Fining club atmosphere at night"

"Normally? I don't have such poor reviews. I really don't like giving them. However, this place left me no choice. One great thing? It was very clean. Immaculate! I don't know what kind of Jamaican food they're serving. I also haven't tried everything they have to offer. But what I can say, based on my purchases, I would NEVER buy anything from this place again, unless it's a bottled beverage. It's a DISGRACE to Jamaican food. As a Jamaican, I was shocked. Everything purchased was AWFUL...Okay, the Chicken Soup was drinkable, but it failed in taste it was bland. The patties were dry beyond sense, the coco bread was coco bad tough, the harddough bread tasted terrible what happened??? The bun? The bun was dry stale really guys? The bun? Even the darn cheese for the bun was wretched. It lacked taste, and was too hard. The darn cheese made a sound, when dropped on the counter. Whhhyyy??? Now in their defense? They only prepared the soup, as everything else was pre done packaged. However, it's still disappointingly sad. I'm Jamaican, and I know good Jamaican food, when I taste it. I had a feeling, from the minute I walked in, that the food was going to be doubtful. Why? There was no wonderful cooking odor in the air. A dead give away. Food is supposed to slap you in the face from outside, but marinate your senses, at the very least, when you walk through the door. This definitely was not the case. The customer service was great mind you, wonderful. But the food? I feel my Sister I deserve our $53.22 returned. No...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER again. If you're looking for real Jamaican food? This isn't it."

"The pizza here is absolutely delicious! I stumbled upon this place after another well-known pizzeria was closed, and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the sausage pizza with broccoli (I can't recall its exact name on the menu). They make their pizza in a brick oven, which adds to the flavor. One pizza and an appetizer were enough for two people. We tried the meatballs as our appetizer—two large meatballs served with red sauce, and they were fantastic. I've heard that this place is also famous for its pasta, which we didn't get to try, but we definitely plan to return soon to sample it."
