"The manager on duty this particular evening (a small Asian male) was extremely rude. I've been a long-time customer at Ooki, based on location, mostly (but not always) good-tasting food, and despite some occasional glitches in delivery (the wrong dish is delivered about 10% of the time and sometimes they require (mostly because of location), but also due to some good food (but not always). In terms of delivery, about 10% of the time, the wrong order is delivered and sometimes they require the customer to send them a photo of what was delivered before they agree to exchange it. But overall, the service was acceptable such that I have been a repeat customer for over 10 years. But today, I ordered for takeout for single dish under $10 When I got there to pay, they told me I had to pay cash as there was a $10 limit for credit, I know that a credit minimum is not an unusual practice. However, I can’t recall having to pay cash at Ooki in the recent past, so I was a bit surprised with the request for cash. The cashier was apologetic and friendly. But then the manager intervened and very quickly and rudely told me I had to pay cash. When I told him I was a long-time customer who never paid cash, he said it didn’t matter. When I asked to see something in writing that stated the credit minimum policy, he then dismissed me and told me the order was cancelled. Before leaving the restaurant, I double-checked the walls and the menu to see if there was some written policy supporting the $10 minimum. There wasn't any. So I ended up walking 2 blocks to another Japanese restaurant) which treated me much more politely and filled my order in less than 4 minutes (Ooki typically takes 10 to 15 minutes). I will miss ordering from Ooki, but I can not tolerate a lack of courtesy from management."

"I've seen this place multiple times as I shop in the plaza all the time and eat at the Greek restaurant on the corner. I wanted to do something different so we ordered takeout I got the volcano chicken which was horrible too much breading a very large portion with no chicken and was bland and the volcanic chili sauce smell like it was tainted we ordered the egg fried rice and we found a large hair which look like it was from a beard. My wife ordered the teriyaki chicken with a super small portion and had no flavor at all. The soft shell crab wasn't even a full crab it was one crab cut in half with too much breading. And whatever sauce came with it tasted really bitter. My daughter's ordered some pad Thai with beef and the meat was undercooked. The rangoons were horrible look like they hadn't changed the grease in months. Before we found the hair and the egg fried rice it had a funny smell and smell like it was burnt. I spent over $100 ordering takeout and I'm very disappointed. I will never go back to this place. I should have known when the whole entire restaurant was empty when we walked in. As we sat and waited a kind gentleman walked up to us and offered us a drink which I would have ordered one if I wanted to after a long day's work but I figured why not. He told the hostess and she proceeded to grab me a soda which I thought he was offering as a kind gesture as we waited and she proceeded to charge before it almost $3 for a can of soda. The amount of money I just spent at this restaurant to enjoy a nice dinner and something of a change has become a huge disappointment. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. Gross"

"Went for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant has a great vibe with plenty of window seating (for 2) and a full bar and bar area. When we were there, there was a business there doing presentations and talking through a PA system that was less than desirable for an evening out. Luckily, the presenting and PowerPoint didn't last for too long, but they pianist didn't play while they were doing their presenting, which was disappointing. We ordered a few drinks which took a little bit to come from the bar and when they arrived, one had a fly in it. It was brought to their attention and quickly replaced. For dinner, we ordered the miso sea bass and a ribeye steak with crab, artichoke, and spinach dip. The first ribeye that came out was nearing well done when ordered medium (which we were told would be bright pink). The server recognized it was overcooked and insisted it be replaced. The second steak came out perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I've purchased many expensive steaks, and this one sits pretty high on the list. My wife loved her sea bass, and it was cooked wonderfully. Staff was very friendly, and the food was good aside from a few hiccups. They did comp us a dessert, which was really good. It was a cake with creme sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and carmazlized bananas. Amber, the manager, also stopped by to apologize about the steak and needing to wait for a new one, and that was super nice. I'd recommend checking it out and maybe calling first, making sure some business hasn't rented out a portion of the restaurant."
