"My wife and I went when they opened up for the day recently. Immediately got seated in a spot we preferred and ordered drinks. Plenty of options for eating, and I mean a lot of options! Everything from sushi and rice to ramen and hibachi style combination dinners. My wife ordered a Poke bowl while I ordered the Shoyu Ramen and we also ordered pot rice with steak. What we didn't expect was a miso soup and ginger salad with our order (albeit we didn't see what our orders came with neither). The Miso soup was flavorful and delicious. The ginger salad was plentiful and the type of ginger sauce I like. One negative mark (in my opinion) is with the salad. Both my wife and I felt that there wasn't enough ginger sauce in the salad. Although we didn't expect it in the first place, it wasn't entirely too flavorful (lack of ginger sauce). My wife's opinion on the Poke bowl was that it didn't have too much flavor neither. It was plentiful as well, but lacked flavor according to her.My Shoyu Ramen was excellent! Big bowl, very flavorful, and delicious! I will be back for more and that's a promise. Their ramen alone was enough for me to be a repeat customer. The pot rice (with steak) was really good! It was big and plentiful. More than enough for my wife and I (although we didn't expect it to be that big). The only caveat is the price. I feel as if the price was just a little too much for what it is. We will still order it again and we do plan on going back soon. Our total bill was roughly a bit more than $25/person (before tip). Not entirely bad overall. Just a few items here and there seem to be expensive. We enjoyed the place. We enjoyed the food. We enjoyed the customer service. Definitely worth trying this place out if you haven't and it's definitely worth going back to.Edit: My wife and I went back again today (11/18/21). We ordered take out this time and I, again, got the Shoyu ramen. My wife got a different poke bowl from the first time and we also ordered beef fried rice. Everything was absolutely delicious! My wife enjoyed the poke bowl and I the ramen. We both took out most of the rice and definitely enjoyed the flavor. We were hoping to get some miso and salad like last time but I'm assuming that's for dine in. Until next time..... Because we will be back again!"

"The two appetizer shrimp were good, with the right color and appearance. The rice was acceptable, but then came the smaller shrimp of poor quality, cooked before the steaks—like those frozen bags from Costco or Sam's Club, perhaps even worse, shipped from who knows where. I managed to eat three of them, which tasted like chlorine and cheap seafood, with almost no teriyaki or seasoning, just a bit of butter for cooking. At this point, my Coke had run out. The waitress returned to refill everyone’s water and tea, but not my Coke. I waited a long time and only got a refill when the cook was almost finished. By this time, my steak was sitting on my plate, getting cold while I was still thirsty from the shrimp and rice. I noticed other staff members standing around in the hall, on their phones, doing nothing. When the waitress finally returned, she brought a pitcher of flat, stale Coke that had clearly been sitting out for who knows how long, instead of a fresh glass like you’d expect at a restaurant of this quality and price. As for my steak, it was the blandest hibachi steak I’ve ever had—no seasoning, just some butter, and it had large chunks of fat from cheap meat that hadn’t been trimmed properly. I ended up with bites that were half fat. I might understand this level of quality and service at a fast food-style Japanese restaurant, but not at a hibachi-style sit-down restaurant where you expect trained chefs and decent service. Honestly, this is the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had for the price. I've dined at other Kobe’s for over 20 years, and this is far from what I remembered. I left half the awful food on my plate in disbelief, although the rice was decent. I didn’t even take the leftovers home because I wouldn’t want my dogs to eat shrimp of that quality—no joke! Never again."

"My husband and I went for a date night. We don't typically go to Havelock, but wanted to venture out and try a place we've never been before. The menu of the restaurant reminded us of a restaurant we used to like back in SC, so we decided to give this place a try. I'm so glad we did!! We started out with the Goyza and they were amazing. Delicious, crunchy, and plenty of meat. For our main course I order the Carolina Sunset Roll and my husband ordered the Steak Hibachi. When they finally arrived (a bit of a long wait for an almost empty restaurant) the wait was worth it! The portion sizes were large and the food was *chef kiss* Delicious!! The steak was soft and flavorful, the rice was cooked perfectly and the onions were tasty. Only complaint my husband had was there was not enough mushrooms (we only found maybe 5 or 6) and the rice to meat ratio was off. Next time he will definitely have to order double steak. As for the Carolina Sunset Roll... perfect!! I was a little nervous about the spicy mayo, as some places make it very spicy, but this one didn't really have any spice. It was super filling and tasty. After filling up and feeling stuffed, my husband had enough for a whole other meal, which we gladly took to-go. I can't wait to go again and have already started telling all my friends and co-workers about this place. Dietary restrictions: Plenty of seafood free options"

"On my second visit, however, I was disappointed. I was with a family member this time and decided to order the same dish, but the roll I received was barely half of what I got on my first visit. The service was also not up to par; the server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and struggled to understand my order. Despite this, the food was still good, just not as great as before. By my third visit, I was determined to get that same roll I loved. The family member I was with ordered six rolls, and while the server did their best to assist us, they still seemed unsure about what I was asking for. Nevertheless, the food remained tasty. However, I couldn't help but feel that there was some sort of favoritism towards the family member I was with. This reminds me of similar experiences I've had at other Asian restaurants owned by Asian people, where the staff seems to go the extra mile for those with familiar ties. Is this a cultural thing, or just a coincidence? I’m not sure. Having lived in Korea for a year, I remember the food always being delicious and plentiful, and the service was great, especially since I often dined with my Korean friends. Despite my mixed experiences, I definitely plan to return for the variety and flavor. Now, I'm on a mission to find that roll I had on my first visit and determined to be seen as the favored guest next time! The atmosphere is positive and clean, not overly fancy, but the cleanliness and wonderful aromas make it an inviting place."
