"I have been to J. Alexander's a few times before and each time the service is exceptional and the food is usually pretty good. Yesterday evening was not as good of an experience for me and my family. Upon arrival I informed the hostess that I had an additional guest. I was met with disdain and a huff and puff. They were able to accommodate me and we were sat. A portion of our party did run a little late but we had our drink orders taken. Unfortunately, we were not tended to again for 45 minutes. We had to wave our waiter down multiple times throughout our visit. He was not very attentive and we often had to ask him to clear our table or come back to see us when he had a moment. It was quite disappointing because it seemed as if he did not want to serve us at all. Then only time we received a smile was when we paid our tab plus 18% gratuity and were leaving. I really like this place so hopefully this was a singular experience."

"I love this place. it is cozy and dim, good for a date. also beautiful for a girl lunch before a mall trip the first rib French diving sandwich is wonderful, as well as her spinat and artichoke dip app. but my favourite piece on the menu is the cypress salad. between the sweet crumbles, the perfect fried chicken, avocado and the pecans, it's just delicious. service is always good. it's something on the expensive side. the menu is not huge, but has many good choices."
