"It's rare to find a gastronomic place where everything is just right: the atmosphere, the correct and friendly service, the music (and its sound level , the cleanliness of the venue and of the restrooms, and of course the quality of the cooking. In Gotham Restaurant we found it! This restaurant had it all during our visit. Without any doubt we will be back. We were amazed that this restaurant has not been awarded yet with a Michelin star. We had a the most amazing three course lunch menu here. Starter: butternut squash soup. Arguably the best butternut soup we have ever tasted! Packed with flavor with some tanginess from lemon and interesting combinations of textures such as crispy sage, pumpkin seeds and little dices of pumpkin. Main: We had a papardelle pasta with mushrooms and marsala sauce. The deepness and richness of the marsala sauce was impressive to say the least. Pasta was cooked to perfection. Other main course we had was braised chicken breast with mixed vegetables. The chicken was crispy on the outside whilst tender and moist on the inside. No faults here. and again cooked perfectly. Mixed vegetables still had a little bite and were clearly super fresh. Desert: served us a crème brûlée (wobbly and perfect thin caramelized sugar layer and a flourless chocolate cake: velvety soft. Both stunningly prepared classics. Cleary the chef knows his pastry. Is there anything to improve here? Well that depends on the level that you can indulge yourself with this kind of high quality food. We felt the portions were a bit too generous for us. Then again: can there be great hospitality without generosity? So no complaints here : Compliments to the patron, the chef and the black and white brigade for giving us this splendid experience."

"We had a nice, solid meal here. I think the ambience is nice here, and I wouldn't hesitate to take someone here for a date! There were just a few things that I felt could be improved, hence the 4 stars. We ordered the mussels, friend got a cobb salad and I listened to Victor G. and got the burger minus the bacon). The mussels were very good. Sauce was super garlicky and yummy. A few of the mussels were closed, so not perfect, but I would order them again. I didn't try the cobb salad, but it looked really delicious... perfect avocado and a good portion of chicken. It got a thumbs up from my friend. The burger was definitely as good as promised. I found it to be nice and juicy, very tasty with distinct flavors. I thought it was pretty excellent... I gobbled it down super quickly. I wasn't a big fan of the fries though, their texture was off for me. They tasted kind of stale, even though I knew they couldn't possibly be. I'm kind of a fry snob, so maybe I'm just picky... but the real problem with them was the house-made ketchup. The ketchup is unappetizing, bordering on gross. I ate it because I felt obligated to after the waiter's little spiel about it. Dear all restaurants everywhere: Can we please stop with the artisan ketchup thing? Everyone just wants Heinz anyway! I ended up dipping the fries in the mussel sauce. but I would've preferred ketchup. : I would definitely return to Rustic Tavern and try some of their other stuff. But next time, I'll smuggle in a bottle of Heinz!!"

"I had dinner with my wife and two teen daughters. We all enjoyed an appetizer of Italian nachos, I had a good Greek salad and everyone was very happy with our entrees—lasagna for my wife and oldest daughter and a pasta dish with penne that I can't recall the name of for my other daughter and Asiago encrusted Halibut for me. My daughters can be quite picky, but both were impressed with their food. My halibut was fantastic. Sadly, our dessert experience came up short. They were out of the dutch apple cheesecake my girls both wanted to try so we got creme brûlée and white chocolate bread pudding. The creme brûlée lacked the creamy smoothness it should have and was a bit custard like. The crystalized sugar was slightly too burnt. While you can enjoy creme brûlée even when it's subpar, the bread pudding wasn't worth the effort. It was very bland—the most flavorful part was the whipped topping. While most of the food was excellent and the service was good, the overall experience didn't quite live up to the $150+ tab. In retrospect, I wish I'd asked for a better table; ours was in a busy intersection close to the kitchen and away from the wall of windows overlooking downtown. Instead of a great westward view of the city, I had a candid view of the working side of the bar. While the location and space are good, the ambiance seemed lacking. I have no idea how long this location has been open, but I came away with the feeling they have some kinks to work out before they can offer the experience of the Urbandale location. Despite the great food (desserts notwithstanding), I'd need to have a better overall experience on a second try before I could recommend Sam Gabe's at the Lyons."

"**Date of Visit:** Sunday, September 3rd **Time:** From 6:15 PM **Seating:** We were seated in a lovely booth by the window with a southward view of the San Jacinto Mountains. **Hosts:** Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of the main host due to minimal interaction. However, Adam stood out as the most attentive host. His professionalism and teamwork truly made a difference. **Staffing Issues:** I observed four problematic staff members, with three of them directly impacting our experience. One had served us during a previous visit, adding to the negative impression. **Facility:** The restaurant itself is impressive, there's no doubt about that. **Food:** The food was also impressive, particularly the sea bass. However, when the server and the greeter approached our table, they failed to explain the dish properly and displayed a lack of eye contact and rushed speech. Their demeanor suggested they were time-pressed and somewhat irritated, which was disappointing. **Suggestions:** Tips should ideally be given in sealed envelopes to ensure that they go directly to deserving individuals. The best host, Adam, deserves recognition, while others who are less attentive should not benefit from his hard work. Our initial visit was exactly what we anticipated, but following a few recent visits, I’ve noticed a troubling trend regarding the service towards my guests and me. Each dining experience seemed to deteriorate, reflecting a lack of fervor from the staff. One host in particular seemed focused on certain tables, providing them with excellent service—frequent refills and enjoyable conversation—while our table received service that felt cafeteria-like at best. When I requested black pepper for our salads, we had nearly finished before she returned, only to ask if we needed anything. I had to remind her about the pepper, and even then, she took her time addressing the needs of other patrons before attending to us. Drink service was inconsistent, with requests needing to be specifically directed to her, no matter where she was. Even coffee service left much to be desired; my second cup was only half-full and unceremoniously served. The service at our table felt lacking, making me pine for a better experience elsewhere. To the management of this establishment: please hire staff who leave their negative attitudes at the door. Your customers deserve the five-star treatment that your talented chefs and inviting atmosphere promise. Unfortunately, some frontline employees overshadow the commendable efforts of your culinary team. I had originally planned to host a special 20-person dinner party here; however, I must now seek a venue willing to provide the attentive service my guests and I deserve, even if it costs twice as much. I refuse to allow the low professionalism of a few individuals to make my guests feel unwelcome. In conclusion, your restaurant has potential, but a few frontline representatives do not meet the standard. Based on my experiences, I cannot return. If your goal is to deter customers like me, then you’ve succeeded. The hospitable nature of a staff member like Adam was the only reason we stayed; his attentiveness and dedication to customer service are qualities that are truly commendable. He could thrive in any top-tier restaurant. Thank you, Adam, for enhancing our dining experience with your efforts while we enjoyed our calamari."
