"I recall this place opening not too long ago, so I was eager to try it out and see how the place was doing. One thing I do love about a cafe is the aspect of all day breakfast, and Sweet Basil provides such! The menu has TONS of options so you are sure tofind something you can enjoy. The staff are very friendly and the environment is very home-like and clean. One thing you arecertain of getting here are excellent sized portions of food, you are not going to leave hungry! The food is very satisfying andthe ingredients are fresh and well prepared. Overall a great experience! HOWEVER. I do wish to add a side note. While I wasvisiting, seated at the table next to me was a man who claimed to be the owner. He had a lady guest with him and the duo hadordered at least five or six full plates of food, their entire table was loaded with food! They merely poked at the food, laughed, chatted, and just left, leaving all of the nearly untouched food to just be picked up by the waitresses and thrownaway. Sure, you may be the owner, but it takes a certain level of arrogance and disrespect to just have your staff work hard tomake all of that food to merely impress someone just to throw it all away. It could have been taken come, or just have it boxedup and hand it to one of the hungry panhandlers out there. With so many hungry people, food costs rising, and familiesstruggling, it takes a certain level of I 'm too important to care to remotely justify this owner 's wasteful actions."

"You do not want to be treated the way the owner and business has treated my family and I today. We went for breakfast... 4 of us. Although we understand it was very busy and loud in there, it was already hard to hear our waiter to begin with but we tried to keep our minds open to having a good time! Our waiter was not communicating well with us and on accident smacked a cup with Tabasco causing a loud cracking sound cracking the cup and spilling water, he pretended like nothing happened and didn’t say anything and walked away. Kind of weird, but we still kept good attitudes and simply asked for a new water. Our food came, first order was made wrong, no apology or anything, but eventually the correct order was brought out. After that, one of us noticed there was a hair in the untouched food, so politely we pointed the hair out and asked for it to be remade. Still no apologies, we know hair in food in not an uncommon thing for the restaurant industry, so we didn’t think much of the hair but the reaction we got from the staff was really uncomfortable and no where near necessary! We thought it was extremely disappointing that we didn’t get a sorry with all of these accidents. We still kept a decent attitude and weren’t rude. While waiting for the one meal to be replaced, we had what seemed to be the owner come up to our table. He had been upset with us for reporting the hair in the plate to just the waiter… because that’s somehow the customers fault. He didn’t say sorry or reassure us in anyway, but instead he did decide to tell us is wasn’t their fault because all of the kitchen staff wear hats, not hair nets… baseball caps. The waiters didn’t have anything protecting their hair neither did the owner so I’m not sure why he felt the need to tell us this in the rude way that he did. He told us that and left, nothing else didn’t ask us if we wanted anything or how the rest of the food was. We felt extremely disrespected and uncomfortable since we go here very often. My family member with the hair in his food was very confused why he was being called out as a liar for the hair and what the point of the “owner” coming up to our table and talking to all of us in that way was, so he went up to the owner and still no apology just more rude comments! So many more little things come up that make it shocking that the management thinks this is okay …. but after contemplating leaving we were starving at this point we decided to stay and eat. The correct meal was brought out with no hair after the wrong meal was brought out as a correction. We will not be going back and recommend anyone thinking about going here avoids this type of service at all costs! We still paid full price and were offered nothing but disregard for our feelings. Very dissatisfied!!!! I would give it negative stars if I could!"

"Saw that this place has 4.5 starts so decided to give it a try. Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday a little bit past 12pm. The first thing to note if you're going to stop in here is that the parking lot is in the back. And there is plenty of parking. There is a door around the back, but you can also go to the front entrance on Pulaski. There wasn't many people when I arrived(5 in total including me). I walked to the front of the restaurants and let the front desk staff know that I was there and I wastold to have a seat anywhere I'd like. One of the things that caught my eye was the gorgeous painting of the Aztec calendar. The colors are so vibrant! I sat in myself and the woman at the front desk introduced herself as Kathy and proceeded to provideme with a menu, utensils and water. She was very pleasant and shared with me that they were short staffed and that she wanted toapologize in advance. I ordered the chilaquiles with salsa verde and carne asada on the side. When my order arrived, I wasshocked at how big the plate was. The carne asada was cooked to my liking (medium well) and so were my eggs (medium well). Thechilaquiles were GREAT. I don't like it when chilaquiles are soggy and these were NOT they had a crunch to them, which Ireally enjoyed. I want a fan of the rice, but I have to note that it wasn't horrible either. The beans were good andcomplimented the meal. Overall, I had a good meal and the service was GREAT. Kathy was very attentive and she sanitized theother two tables after they left. I highly recommend this place. I'll be back with my family."
