A couple of weeks ago, I visited this restaurant and was served by a male waiter who was distracted by a game while taking our drink and appetizer orders. When it was time to settle the bill, I informed the waiter that I would be paying for the entire table, while two of my coworkers would be placing separate to-go orders with their own tickets. The waiter insisted that I use the QR code to make the payment, even though I preferred a traditional check.
As I was processing the payment, a message popped up indicating that the total amount had changed. Confused, I called the waiter over and discovered that he had added the to-go orders to my bill, despite our earlier discussion. He assured me that he would remove those items and that the payment would go through smoothly. However, here’s where it gets concerning: when I paid, I selected a 20% tip option, and because the added items increased the total, the tip percentage also increased automatically.
I called the manager over, who seemed surprised and mentioned that it would be corrected. He gave me a new receipt, but to my dismay, I was still charged the full amount, meaning the waiter ended up receiving a 60% tip. I followed up five days later, but the issue remained unresolved.
To make matters worse, when I returned the following week, the exact same situation happened again. I plan to escalate this matter to the corporate office because if this is a practice they’re engaging in, it qualifies as theft. It’s frustrating that I experienced this not once, but twice, leading me to believe it’s intentional. I urge every customer entering this establishment to be vigilant and watch out for similar issues!"
