"This was our second time here. The first time was a great experience, but unfortunately I left disappointed this time. The tacos were boring, expensive, with mostly lettuce and not much meat. The meat was not very flavorful either. Two tacos were almost $9.00! The Jalapa fries were good but seemed better the first time with more sauce. A lemonade was $3.50 which seemed pricey as well. Service was slow and our waitress was hard to understand. Worse for me was the price discrepancies.. the money said one thing but the recipes had a higher price. Fortunately our waitress fixed it but seemed odd that happened to begin with. I was not impressed with the Cuban sandwich either. I don’t know what happened from our first time to our second, but don’t think there will be a third ?"

"I've ordered from this restaurant twice, and both times my order was incorrect. There's always something off with what I receive. For instance, I ordered tres golpes, but it didn't come with fried cheese. I requested cheese empanadas and received chicken instead. I also ordered a combo that included baked chicken, moro, and beans, but the beans were missing. The moro was very dry, almost as if it wasn't fresh, and the mangu was overly oily."

"Before Covid we went here often and highly recommend calling ahead for a booth in the bar- it’s great ambiance and they do half off wine nights (used to be on Wednesday’s but check to see). They also have patio seating which is nice even if it’s just overlooking the parking lot. They are great for carry out and their family style entrées are ideal for feeding a crowd. Plus every order comes with free bread, which you can ask them to slice. Also for less mess ask for butter instead of oil. We recommend their rigatoni al fourno with extra sausage- it’s a crowd pleaser."

"I love the ambiance inside. You would never know from the outside how welcoming and inviting the inside is...it feels like you have been transported to a mini vacay in someplace tropical and warm. The service is very good and everyone works quickly and efficiently. I had a limeade with my lunch special and it all really hit the spot. The lunch special is not on the menu...but it is good home cooked food and incredibly reasonable. The chicken soup it started with was the best thing I ate by far...next time I want an even bigger giant bowl of that please....soooooo good with the cilantro!!! The ribs and rice and beans were good but nothing to blow you away like the soup. I would like to go back and try a larger and more creative entree. Something a little more complicated and or substantial with more seasoning...if they nail that I will change my rating to 5 stars. Nice touch at the end with the mints that came with the check as well."

"The service was excellent, and the drinks were very good. We particularly enjoyed the tuna tartare appetizer, which was fantastic! My husband ordered the Osso Bucco; it was very tender, but it wasn't cut in the traditional style, and there was no gremolata served with the hollowed bone. I opted for the lobster gnocchi, which was so rich that I found it hard to eat much of it—not to mention the serving size was enormous! It really needed some acidity to balance out the richness. We were willing to give the restaurant another chance, but the combination of the disappointing food and the very loud dining room has led us to decide to skip Maxwells 148 the next time we go out for dinner."

"I ordered delivery from this restaurant, and it was fantastic. They deserve every star I can give! The steak and cheese sandwich was incredible, featuring fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, and the steak was truly delicious. The pizza was excellent as well—I had two big slices of chicken bacon ranch. Now, let me talk about the jalapeño poppers... they were my absolute favorite! The jalapeños were fresh and packed with cream cheese. I was impressed that they kept everything hot in a nice plastic container, unlike most pizza places that just throw it all in a bag. I really felt like my food was treated with care, which made me enjoy it even more than usual. The quality of the food was outstanding. This will definitely be my go-to spot from now on, especially for late-night cravings! I would have taken pictures of the food, but it was so delicious that I didn't have time; it was gone before I knew it!"

"This review is not based on food or service, just an unpleasant recent experience. My family and I are regulars here and we are usually very content with the food and service, however on the morning of June 3rd we left the establishment very sad, confused and disappointed. My husband and I were seriously over charged for breakfast. We were each charged $22 for boiled green plantains with chuleta. So our breakfast included 2 breakfast plates of green boiled bananas with meat 2 passion fruit juices and 1 to go small dessert $62. It made us sad to be overcharged because we have been supporting this business since day 1 especially during the covid lockdown . I understand that inflation has had a negative effect on businesses and everyone in general but No one should have to pay $22 for boiled green bananas. My suggestion is keep the prices at a reasonable range."

"I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. They disrespected me and my child, and I'm considering pursuing legal action for discrimination. The staff was unkind, and I will not be returning with my family to this unclean establishment. When I asked if they could turn down the television, the response was that they didn't have a remote. I also felt uncomfortable when they refused to serve us because we don't speak Spanish. This is the United States; I don't understand why that would be an issue. If there are problems with that, maybe it’s time to point out the way to the freeway."

"We made reservations a month in advance for my son's 29th birthday at CIAO. We were looking forward to it as CIAO has always been reliable in the past. When making the reservation, I mentioned it was my son's birthday and requested a cake or some kind of recognition. We arrived at 6:30 for our reservation and were seated right away, but we waited 30 minutes for our server to come to our table. After ordering, drinks and salads arrived, but unfortunately there was a hair in my daughter-in-law's salad. Despite bringing it to the waiter's attention, he did not acknowledge it or offer an apology. When the food arrived, my son's steak was cooked rare instead of medium, and the server did not address it even when my son didn't eat it. We left the restaurant feeling disappointed and frustrated, as they never acknowledged my son's birthday and there was no cake. Overall, it was a waste of 2 hours and $280."

"I've been coming here for a while and I'm disappointed at who the new chef is. I always get baleadas from here because they're my favorite and last night was terrible. Instead of mashing the beans, they just cooked them and dumped the liquid that comes with the beans into the tortilla while some of the whole beans fell in. The cheese was bland, pretty much tasteless and when I spoke up about it, they took the food and charged me for it anyways. I've been here enough for them to know me by name, and they still did that. I paid it because I'd rather stay peaceful but, I'm never coming back again. Save your money, don't go here."

"I had an amazing meat pie at Franco's Pizza Edison. It had been 18 years since I last enjoyed an east coast style pizza, so I was excited to finally try it again. I watched as they prepared a fresh Meat Pizza from scratch, and I ordered the first item on the menu. However, I plan to try a combo before I leave town. The staff were incredibly friendly and made me feel completely at home. I devoured half of a medium pizza and took the rest back to my room. The menu offers many other options, and I can confidently say that if I lived here, I'd be ordering food once or twice a month, especially if everything is as good as the pizza.
