"I decided to overlook her indifference and joked that I didn’t want to sit on a bench, to which she responded, “I’m not going to sit you at a picnic table.” Ugh, she really lacked personality. However, I loved the windows in the restaurant and appreciated the casual seating options. There’s a stage that opens to the inside but faces outwards, which is pretty neat. I recalled trying to visit this place with another friend on a Friday night, only to find a two-hour wait! We ended up going somewhere else. Eventually, the hostess seated me in the middle of the dining area, and I was soon greeted by a polite young man who offered to take my drink order. I asked for two waters, which he brought promptly. Then Delaney came over and cheerfully inquired if I wanted anything to start with. She was all smiles and very professional. I let her know that my friend was running a few minutes late, so I would browse the menu for a moment. When my friend arrived, Delaney returned, and we decided to try the cactus fries. They were served fresh and hot, with crispy batter on sliced cactus, along with a delicious ranch dip—so good! I also ordered a Spicy Gold Rush cocktail made with Knob Creek Rye, one of my favorites, and it definitely did not disappoint! I enjoyed a second one and can’t wait to come back to sample more drinks from the bar. My friend ordered a Lynchburg Sour, and we were lucky to arrive just in time for happy hour at 3 PM—what a deal at $3.24 for a drink! Since it was late for lunch, we opted for a light meal—a half sandwich and a salad. I know it sounds boring, but I was tempted by the quail dish. I didn't want to spoil my appetite for dinner, so I went with a half club sandwich instead, which was really good. However, I’m a bit of a neat freak and ended up using a knife and fork since it was too messy for me. The salad was fantastic, featuring small bits of freshly chopped jalapenos that paired perfectly with my drink. Just a heads up for those who may not enjoy spicy foods! I loved my salad but can’t wait to return for a more substantial meal. Our server completely outshined the hostess in terms of attentiveness, professionalism, and friendliness. Delaney frequently checked on us, made great suggestions, had a wonderful sense of humor, and made us feel right at home. As someone who has traveled extensively, I can be quite picky about service. Delaney’s welcoming demeanor made this first visit a delightful experience, and since I pass by here occasionally, I know I’ll be back! Excellent job, Delaney!"
