"This was our first visit to Fhima's, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our waiter, Marshall inquired whether we had concert plans for the evening (we did). He did a great job of pacing our meal so that our food was presented in a timely manner and we were able to get to our concert at just the right time. My hubs and I shared 3 different entrees and each was superb! The scallops with parmesan and saffron risotto, duck confit hash, and short ribs with sweet potato mousse were all tasty and nicely plated and presented. I could have licked the risotto and sweet potato mousse plates! The short ribs were garnished with a tuft of cotton candy-not needed in my opinion. Entrees were small enough to be a smaller plate meal; they were just right to share (2 scallops, 2 short ribs, etc). We finished off with sharing creme brulee which was actually brulee'd at the table. A fun way to end our meal! We enjoyed a few drinks off of their seasonal menu-hubs had 2 drinks featuring mezcal-the Nib Slip and Smoke in Her Eyes-this was presented table side in a smoke filled decanter. I had the Dead &Lovely-I actually saved this drink to drink with dessert as it is a sweeter drink with heavy cinnamon notes. Service was prompt and attentive, although it did taper off a bit as the restaurant became busier. Not a deal changer by any means, though. The wait staff seems to function well as a team with most tasks, which is nice to see. We had a very nice visit to Fhima's. The variations in presentation of drinks and food makes the experience interesting and fun! Pricing was fair for the food and service levels. The attention to the small details was apparent. Well done!"

"We were able to make a 10:30PM dinner reservation, which was perfect since driving in from out of town. At 10:00 we received a phone call that we had to actually be there by 10:15 if we wanted to be served any food since the kitchen actually closes at 10:30. We rushed over and made it for 10:15. We were rushed from the moment we got there with putting in the order, being frequently reminded that the kitchen was closing. We got our order in and was told all the appetizers and food are going to have to come out together. We said that was fine we understood. We were not even finished eating and the waiter came over and claimed his shift was ending and he needed to close out our bill. Didn’t ask if we wanted anything else, any drink refills etc. didn’t ask if we would need a box or anything either. It was a really rushed experience, even though I will say the dinner was amazing. We decided to give it another try for breakfast, and it was also rushed with a majority of the staff from hosts to waiters were incredibly unfriendly and seemingly bothered by a lot. They didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. However, your staff that clears the tables (considered I guess bus boys? were phenomenal and should be recognized. They were incredibly kind and attentive. I’m typically not one to complain, but for a restaurant being inside of a luxury hotel it was not an enjoyable experience, but again, food was incredible."

"Collared a friend for short-notice lunch at Le Crepe Michel in Old Town ABQ. We got there a bit ahead of their 11:30 opening time and had another couple of folks waiting with us. When we entered the space the foyer/front end felt pretty small crowded on fleeting impression. But after winding through what I think was a server 's station into the rear eating room, the claustrophobia abated. The beamed skylight kept the cozy room from feeling closed in and the overall impression was of some elegance, albeit a bit aged or worn. Not so much tired as a well patina-ed slightly rustic character like you might find in older European houses. Table setting was linen appropriate. Price was moderate with ticket coming into the $20 'ish range for lunch (water, no drinks after tax. Food wise, they got easy five stars for diversity of offerings, quality of product, and presentation. Friend had salmon and cheese crepe with side salad. She gave it her stamp of approval. I got carrot ginger soup to start, followed by beef bourguignon crepe that arrived with a dab of veg to keep it sparse company on the plate. Baguette with butter to start the meal was ordinary, but okay. Service throughout was attentive professional. Spot on. Dark uniform of black slacks shirts helped along the impression that this is an eatery with a touch of class, without being pretentious. The rich cream-based carrot soup I started with had a subtle, nearly invisible, hint of ginger at the start that seemed to quickly disappear as I ate, leaving the carrot flavor to carry the load. I would have liked a more strident ginger kick as a personal preference. Nonetheless the creamy soup satisfied with it 's richness and smooth mouth feel. The beef bourguignon crepe was generous in portion size and very savory in flavor. Beef bourguignon is a dish that is time intensive enough that I will let someone else make it for me, but won 't make myself. So I was glad it was an option at Le Crepe Michel. The gravy was richly flavored and pungent. The beef chunks were very tender with one or two obstinate exceptions. The crepe wrapping the bourguignon was sturdy enough to contain the contents without being tough or rubbery. Overall I found it to be a very good dish. The accompanying veggies were ordinary. Steamed to al dente but could have used some salt and pepper, and a dab of butter would have helped. We were full enough at the end our meal to forgo dessert. But the offerings looked good, including the chocolate mousse, which is my litmus dessert in French restaurants. I may have to return some time just to dessert myself. (Somehow that sounds zen, eh? Overall I found Le Crepe Michel to be an easy candidate for more return visits due to the quality of food and service. See you there."
