Crispy, thin South Indian crepe made from semolina, served plain for a light and tasty experience.

"My dad and I went to eat a rava dosa and the wait was 45+ minutes as they waited for two more rava dosa orders to fill their large pan I guess. So if you time it such that you get into th batch or if you avoid ordering rava dosa you will wait less. I like Modern madurai cafe right across near evelyn and Wolfe as the service, cleanliness and tatse are better IMO. This place also caters to online orders more so maybe that would have been a better option. The food was subpar for the wait. Not coming here for sometime until this memory fades. The prices are reasonable so the crowd is more."

"Very kind staff. We loved the fact that the naan bread was made fresh on order. We don’t like to waste food so our server allowed us to take home the unfinished portion of our naan bread. The variety of food was plentiful and we appreciated the generous vegetarian/vegan options for my husband. We wish we would have frequented the restaurant more instead of experiencing it on our last day in town. We will definitely be back! Thank you!"

"The food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients! The atmosphere was delightful, and the location was excellent. The two female owners were really friendly and served our meals personally. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because of the delay in service during our meal. It seems they are experiencing a shortage of resources after COVID, which might account for the wait, but it was a bit frustrating for us."

"Firstly, the service is wonderful! The two guys the lady behind the counter were helpful, patient pleasant! Second, I’ve never seen such huge beautiful looking bhaturas they were the perfect balance of flaky and soft buttery goodness! The choley and pav bhaji need work! The pav was too dry and crispy; the dosa wasn’t bad but the sambar was great and not watery which was fantastic. Overall, I’d go back because the staff were so pleasant but I’d try other things on the menu next time.Vegetarian options: Tons of veg options! In fact, I believe it’s all veg place!Kid-friendliness: Tons of seating and room for kids to run around in. Lol!Dietary restrictions: If you’re a vegetarian and like flavorful food, go for it!"

"We've gotten takeout from Desi Chef a few times and are absolutely amazed at the flavors and spice levels. We ordered online and the food was always ready when promised, within a minute or two. The pakura batter is a bit thicker than we are used to, but not in a bad way, it has a warm feeling that feels like a hug. The Tikka masala is absolutely on par and just spicy enough to get the average white guy a little sniffly. While the store itself might be a little simple from the outside, everything inside is what counts. The warm hug of amazing cuisine and the endless supply of Indian groceries and spices make an great addition to the variety of cultures Somerville's food scene offers. Please try this place if you like Indian cuisine. Please try this place if you like food. You won't be disappointed. It's a place that definitely belongs on a Food network or travel show."

"Sudden cravings for dosa and south Indian Thali on a Monday evening led us here since most of our other options were closed. Sambhar is the most important component in a Thali for me. Was initially bummed that they didn't have their full Thali available that day, but had a limited plate version of it, with sambhar rice, curd rice, a chana poriyal and payasam. Big portions of everything and excellent taste. Loved the sambhar rice. The dosa was good too. The chutney portions were tiny but they do give extra cups upon request. Quick service and wasn't that crowded."

"This is my second visit to this amazing restaurant, and I absolutely love all the dishes I've tried. My favorite is the Dahi Bhalla; it truly captures the essence of Indian flavors with its tangy notes of ginger and tamarind. The texture is so soft, making it delightful to eat. I can confidently say this is the best restaurant I've been to, with the best food around! The Paneer Tikka is the best I've ever had! As a vegetarian, I can comment only on the vegetarian options, but I'm sure everyone will enjoy this place."

"Awesome food. We were visiting for 4 days and ate there 3 days in a row. The food was so fresh and delicious. It was served hot and tasted just like the food in Delhi. The service was pretty good and so was the overall ambience. My daughters enjoyed this place as well. If you go on the weekend, I would recommend planning ahead as they are very busy. We tried just about everything, the only thing we didn’t like were the momos. Other than that, love this place, all the food was excellent. Highly recommend!"

"This used to be my go to, but recently there food has been terrible. I ordered chole puri for the first time. The chole (beans) tasted like they were taken out of a can and dumped in a tomatoe sauce. I called to complain about it, but I was told that it'sjust my opinion which does not matter. I do not recommend this place to eat anymore especially since customer service stinks andthe food is no longer good. I do not leave reviews and never want to leave a bad one for anyone. But after my experience overthe phone with the cashier, I had to do this."

"Hot Breads has lost its charm, once known for its authentic Punjabi style food, thanks to the awesome Punjabi chef they had, has now lost its reputation.Curries are now having the same tomato base with tons of cream.I used to enjoy their paneer kadhaii afraid don’t have photos from the past) just looking at the curry and the signature red and green capsicum used to make me drool. Now the curries look below average and even worst, the taste is not memorable.Same thing for the malai kofta. What disappointed me further was they served me “STALE” … dabeli, it was smelling horrible the moment I opened the take out box. C’mon this is not fair.Thirdly when I started with hotbreads way back the curries used to be priced 6.99 and portions were huge, now they are 17 and the portions are probably half. Ofcourse I do understand the macro economics in play with inflation but that is expensive for a joint like hot breads they are not a sit in restaurant with fancy decor and table service. I think they have taken the prices a bit too far.Not coming back HotBreads, stale food is unpardonable. Can’t give you my business, what a disappointment."
