"To make matters worse, they charge for chips and salsa, serving a small amount of watery salsa with a somewhat generous bowl of unsalted chips for $3.75. When our chips were refilled, the waiter didn’t bring any additional salsa, despite us needing more; instead, he handed me a bottle of hot sauce for my taco. Who charges for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant?
Though the food was decent, the place is just a dingy, casual spot, so I don’t understand why my meal was so overpriced. The rice and beans were also minimal—every other Mexican restaurant I’ve been to serves generous portions, but here the servings were exact. I would have loved to make this place a regular stop, but I left feeling cheated. Even a glass of soda costs about $4! I guess this is just the way things are these days, but for $28.99, chips and salsa should be complimentary, and the rice and beans should fill the plate. If I had noticed the inflated prices on the menu, I would have definitely chosen something else, but I assumed the prices would be in line with typical Mexican restaurants across the U.S. for a three-item combo meal."
