"I did not have a good service experience here, my colleague and I were visiting with our kids, I asked if we could have separate checks. This was a Tuesday in the late afternoon, they were not busy at all and our waitress said no. My friend gave me cash and I put it on my card. The food was good, not exceptional. When it came time to pay I was told my total without getting a bill, I swiped, it asked if I would like to leave a tip and gave suggested amounts. I left a tip, she asked if I wanted a copy, I said yes and tossed it in my purse, it struck me as a bit high but I figured it’s because it’s Chicago. At home I looked at my bill, they added the 20% as a service fee and then my tip as well. I had no intention of double tipping, I called, no manager was there, they said call in the morning. After I called back and informed them what happened, she said the waitress should have mentioned it but technically doesn’t have to because it’s written on the menu. She did admit it that most people miss it, I explained that I was used to that for larger parties of 6 or more. Not 4 people on a slow Tuesday. She said I could go in and she would refund me the second tip, I asked for her to mail me a check since I live several hours away. She said no, I explained then I would have to go through my bank, which I did because I felt the whole thing was quite shady. It was a huge waste of my time and I will not go back because I believe many people have been double tipping unaware."

"The food is fantastic and the portions are massive for the price however I want to leave a good word about the hospitality of the staff here. They are always so incredibly kind. My roommates are other young, white girls/femmes and in the past, they’vedrunkenly sat on the front steps of the restaurant waiting to sober up before walking home in the middle of the night. The womaninside brought them big bags of freshly made chips, even though they didn’t order anything or go inside. Despite our mutuallanguage barrier, they are always so kind, and this was best expressed early this morning. At about 4 am, I was walking homewith my boyfriend. I was incredibly intoxicated, having gotten ill, and struggling to walk. A random, large man noticed myintoxication and aggressively began following us. We ducked inside the restaurant, and I apologized, saying I knew they wereabout to close and that I wasn’t ordering anything I just wanted to hide from the man following us. I don’t think theyoung gentlemen spoke English but they understood what was happening and housed us for a bit while the man stared at us outsidebefore walking away. Another customer inside the deli, who we also shared a language barrier with, insisted on walking the twoof us home right to our door I have also repeatedly noticed a great kindness among this restaurant’s customers. I cannotoverstate my appreciation for this business’s graciousness, and I regret that I lack the ability to communicate this gratitudewith them in their language. If not for the food, please patronize this establishment for the people who work inside."
