"So we make a reservation for at around which was available on the open table app. I got the confirmation and headed over. When I arrived, the hostess said that they don’t honor reservations made less than hours before arriving... ok???! I kind of put up a fight and they reluctantly sat us down. They give us the menu and leave us alone for around minutes. We picked out what we wanted to eat only for the first waiter to show up and say “we can’t serve any food from the grill because it’s too busy and the kitchen is backed up. It will have to be sushi only”. I was shocked and if that was the case, why didn’t they tell me from when I showed up? I would’ve left and gone elsewhere as I had my year old who definitely doesn’t want sushi. They allowed me to order some fried rice with the food so when that showed up I let my kid have it. We ate some of the food that showed up but AN HOUR later, our appetizer, the kids meal, and one entry still hadn’t shown up. I told the next waiter to just forget it , please give us our bill so we could leave. It truly was a terrible experience"

"Amazing. Parking is bad. The delicious food makes up for it. They're actually Japanese and the quality and taste of fish is impeccable. They strategically brought out the food in the best and most traditional sequence for our tastebuds with the cooked seared steak with foie gras last of course. I wish they had omakase but it was really busy that night. One day we'll try it though. While I was waiting for the rest of my party to come, the chef noticed I was waiting so he made me a handroll while we wait for our appetizers (some promo on Yelp)."

"We were seated in a noisy section of the restaurant with sound bouncing off all of the walls. The seats on one side of the table had no backs, which made them uncomfortable. The service was barely acceptable and was punctuated at the end of the evening when a drink we ordered came minutes later as we were paying the bill. We wanted to send it back, but the server said he "didn't have time to discuss it All of that noted, the food was good. But it wasn't good enough for me to go back again. Hopefully, you'll have a better experience."

"I regret to say that this was one of the worst sushi experiences I have ever had. The fish did not seem fresh and tasted far from it. My go-to sushi choice is toro, but I was disappointed by the quality of the toro they served. The sweet shrimp was especially hard to swallow. I would recommend saving your time and money by trying another restaurant. I have no intention of returning to this place."

"Had sushi for lunch here yesterday. The restaurant is in a nice little plaza area. The restaurant is decorated very nicely very authentic vibe. I love how it made you feel you were really eating at a Japanese sushi restaurant in old japan. The server was very nice very polite. They have buy one specialty roll get one half off. The rolls were a bit pricey but good sizes. The poke bowls were a good size as well and everything tasted fresh and made to order. I would recommend this place for sure if you want sushi in Long Beach!"

"The service at this restaurant is terrible, and they have little regard for their customers. We chose to go there because they advertised being open until 10 PM, despite the long journey we had. We arrived at 9:20 PM, only to be told that the restaurant was already closed. Although the place was still busy, we politely requested a quick snack, even if it needed to be to-go. We explained that we specifically chose this restaurant. However, they refused our request and asked us to leave. This kind of treatment is rude and quite disappointing. With such a poor attitude, I would recommend finding another sushi restaurant instead."

"This was my first omakase experience and man did we do a good job picking a place! I found this place through the DineLA restaurants but wasn't able to attend last month due to covid and was able to reschedule our reservation for November. Every month they release a new menu and i believe it's 3 different types with different price points. We had picked the Hazuki but i think our waitress misheard us and we ended up doing the Uzuki one. We didn't realize it till we got to our last portion but no harm, as were able to try out the Miso Crab Salmon Caviar and the A5 Wagyu Beef. If i had to pick my favorite thing from the whole meal, it has to be the Miso Crab Salmon. It was sooooooo good, my husband ended up asking for one for himself after he saw me eating mine. The miso sauce was just so good and tangy and the crab filling with the salmon was just spot on. All of the sushi's were great and honestly only like 2 really needed like a little more sauce. I'm honestly not super good with the names, but the one with miso and the scallop sushi were definitely my favorite ones! The toro ikura caviar was so refreshing and flavorful. The A5 Wagyu was a little too chard for me on the outside but man it was like super buttery and juicy when you bit into it. Definitely super good! The Chawanmushi was so creamy and smooth, I'm not a huge steamed egg fan but it definitely had me looking it up online today trying to see if i could recreate it. For the desert i will say the matcha cheesecake was not it for me, it was missing something to it. I found that mixing it with the Coconut mango pudding made it taste better. But I'd opt for just the coconut pudding next time and that says a lot considering i don't like coconut hahah. The whole experience was very nice and the staff was very attentive and the wait was honestly perfect. I left feeling satisfied and not stuff. It was a great experience and would happily return to try the Hazuki Omakase. Definitely a 5/5. Solid ambiance, food and service!"

"Closest thing I?ve found to a traditional Japanese sushi joint in LA (I lived in Tokyo for a couple years). Sushi was fresh and delicious. The range of fish options was better than what you?ll find at Nobu for example. Menu is all sushi, either nigiri orhand rolls with one or two exceptions, and then of course miso, edamame, etc. You won?t find spider rolls, California rolls,etc. Vibe is understated. Come here for the sushi and the service, not the decor. It?s expensive but that?s what you?d expectin LA. It?s not cheap to fly all that fish in from Tokyo every day! You can go for the omakase option which is $220?250/person.We ordered a la carte and spent about $100/person without drinks."

"This hidden gem of a sushi restaurant in Los Angeles is a must-visit. The quality of the food, especially the premium omakase, is exceptional. The atmosphere is wonderful - guests are asked to remove their shoes upon arrival and the seating is halfway into the ground floor at tables. The servers are incredibly friendly, and every time I leave I am confident I made the right choice for dinner. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, it's a 12/10 experience."

"The best meal I’ve ever had. Chef Sugiyama was so friendly and walked us through the entire meal, course after course. I’ve never felt like I became friends with a chef over a meal, but honestly I will keep coming back just to hear more about his life and culinary philosophy. I don’t usually leave reviews or use terms like “culinary philosophy” by the way, but it was just that great of an experience. It has been a rough year for everyone in LA, this was such a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season."
