"As one with an English heritage, I've had an enjoyable experience dining at several locations in and near San Fernando Valley. To discover the Crown Anchor was to finally be satisfied with the fact that a favourite dish: toad in the hole, was available on the menu. It's been years since tasting good Yorkshire pudding with bangers in a hot onion gravy sauce, and the results were most satisfying, taking me back to the U.K., among other fine English fare that my two companions thoroughly enjoyed, as well. Good form to include the English breakfast available all day, with the obligatory beans on toast, among other simple fare, while the bangers mash always appealed well for its simplistic, but very satisfying results. Our servers were gracious and prompt about the service provided, and thorough in maintaining safety and health regulations per pandemic circumstances, but the establishment offered plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoors, with proper safety guidelines followed by everyone. The interior itself is a beauty unto the British scene with wonderful seating arranged in half-circled booths of vinyl-like upholstery that provide space for 4-5 persons, with a quieter, large chamber, and the pub to another room with plenty of sports monitors for those who enjoyed a noisier social scene, and an open expanse outside, with a tented arrangement for when crowds become too large. All in all, the Crown Anchor has done well to provide a pleasant experience in food, decor, and general service. I wish it the best of success and prosperity, with thanks to the staff who provided for us, and satisfaction for everyone who dines at this beautiful British establishment. Thank you."

"We met a golfer there just after he finished his round. If you have a specific time to be there, arrive early as the parking situation is tough. Our dining companion saved a spot for us by standing in the spot and moving people along until we got there. We walked into the Pub, and waited for someone to greet us. We did not see anyone, so we went to find a table, but none were clean, and one table had a soda on it. Turns out the table with the soda was ours, because our server knew what our companion was drinking. We would have had no idea until we finally stumbled on someone. After the confusion of seating, everything else what as planned. Our server took our order, and our food came out in a timely manner. All orders were correct (a few small changes at the table is this your cole slaw, yes, this must be your fries , we 've all been through it). Our food was very good, my cole slaw was vinegar based, I guess it would have been ok, if you are a fan of vinegar slaw. I asked my server to choose for me between the Pub Burger and the Pork Belly grilled cheese. She told me to get the burger, I hope it was not because it cost more. Our table was decently maintained, and our drinks were kept up with (I have an issue with carafes being used for refilling soda, how long has it been in the carafe, how flat is it ? The check was presented properly. I guess for the price, the location, and the prestigious address, I was expecting more service, but that might be me."

"We’ve been wanting to try Longfellow’s for a while. Had heard great reviews about the prime rib and read not to judge a book by its cover. While it is in a small strip mall next to an abandoned variety store don’t let that stop you. We went there last year but unknown to us it was closed. Apparently there are new owners and it was being refurbished. While I can’t compare it to the previous place I found almost everything about Longfellow’s excellent. The decor and layout is very nice. One side is a nice horseshoe bar with a few high tops. We didn’t have a reservation (Wednesday night 6:00 pm), but we were offered one of the high tops and were seated immediately. The bar has Keno, several tv’s and is decorated in a lot of Red Sox memorabilia. The bar appeared to be mostly local regulars, as everyone was chatting with everyone else. The restaurant side is nicely decorated in a Cape Cod and Nautical motif. There were mostly couples in our age bracket(50’s -70’s) and one family. They do have kids meals and the kids get a take home frisbee with their meal. The Mrs and I each started our mealswith a glass of wine with a nice pour. The Mrs opted for fish and chips and I had the broiled scrod, baked potato andcorn. The Mrs had a very ample serving offish yet finished it because it was so good. My portions were very good as well. My fish was piping hot as was my corn. My only issue with anything was my baked potato. It was a good size, cooked fine and very tasty. It just wasn’t hot, I’d be generous if I even said it was warm, not cold but more like room temperature. It was edible but I use butter not sour cream, so it barely melted. Which I might add the pads of butter were a nice soft consistency so the did melt nicely on the corn. Most restaurants give you the butter pads right out of the refrigerator and don’t melt. Butter does not have to be refrigerated and it’s nice to see a restaurant that knows that. Our server, Ari was very efficient and pleasant. He was around when needed and did an excellent job of taking care of us.A small miscue like a room temperature baked potato would not keep us from coming back. The menu is very extensive and for a fussy eater like me( as I’m told by my entire family) there are lots of items I’m dying to try. As we are on the Cape off and on all year I hope Longfellow’s continues to be as good as our first visit. It just might be our new “go to”"
