"We went to dinner near the end of our stay in Maui and we have to say we wish we had eaten here early as the food and the staff were so good, we would have gone a few more times. When we arrived, we sat quickly after some COVID protocols. The waiter Suke came over and imagined, and it became better and better. Suke was clearly understandable with a warm and friendly arrangement. He made some great recommendations for meals and wine pairings. He explained how all foods were freshly prepared and the whole pasta on the menu in the house are handmade. The food came out efficiently from the kitchen where Matteo himself ran the show this night. The braided short rib and the Butternuss-Quash-Ravioli in a sage and butter sauce were sublimed while someone else in our group had one of the best Lasagna dishes he had ever had. The desserts were also delicious with a flourless chocolate cake that was so light and decadent that it melted into the mouth. The absolute star of dessert options, in my opinion, was Matteo taking his own on an Italian favorite, the Cannoli. The bowl was light, thin and fresh with almost one cripple cookie texture and a coconut cream filling that was one of the most delicious sweets we ever tasted. Last but not least, at the end of our meal, we noticed that Guy Fieri (Food Network Star) had visited and also left his stamp of permission on the wall. You need to visit Matteo when in the area, you will not be disappointed!"

"If you 're in a pinch and jonesin for italian food, this is your spot. First impression: Luby 's of italian food. To be fair, Mandola 's doesn 't have the food sitting out buffet style and someone plating it for you. Not knocking it, it just reminded me of going to Luby 's and standing in line to order your food. The line moves quite fast; ponder the menu while you wait inline and by the time you finish and decide what you 'll have, you 'll be at the counter. You place your order at the counter then go grab a seat. Their service is pretty speedy, as our side salad order was there in no time. The entrees came out before we got done with salads. The salad wasn 't as fresh; felt it was made earlier in the day and refrigerated. Not saying it was bad, just not as fresh as freshly cut greens. We had thin spaghetti, one with shrimp one with 1 meatball. The shrimp were fresh and the meatball was a baseball sized and pretty tasty. The sauce, in my humble opinion, lacked flavor. From the description of the ingredients, garlic, basil and olive oil, I 'd expect a pretty tasty dish oozing garlic, basil and olive oil but all those flavors were lacking. Also, it seemed as when the pasta was cooked, it wasn 't cooked in enough salt. IDK, maybe it 's me and maybe I 'm used how I cook my pasta and sauces. Either way, dish was good, just added a dash of salt and pepper. It has quite a steady number of patrons so it must be good and maybe I went on an off night. I may return to try something else."

"This is truly an amazing place. Incredible Italian Food. Homemade taste like you were eating at your family's home. Excellent marinara sauce (perfect in my opinion). Sal and Russ family really know their stuff and they treat everyone that walks in like family. They have wood fired brick oven pizza that is perfect. Usually we get the Pugliese (broccoli rabe and sausage) which is exactly what we got this time (lol). They have a lot of great pizza but that's my favorite. Fried calamari is always incredible. We also had chicken parm and penne alla vodka, and salmon with broccoli. I finished off with one of their daily specials Rigatoni Norma (rigatoni with fried eggplant and ricotta cheese). Wow it was so good i came again the same week for the same dish (and the Pugliese pizza and Fried calamari LOL). Finished off with an expresso with sambuca. I have know Sal for many years and he really knows his stuff. Pasta always al dente (little firm, which is the only way you should eat pasta), marinara sauce is always perfect (just like when mom makes it), as is everything they make there. Also, don't forget they make the best Italian sandwiches. My favorite is the mixed seafood (fried shrimp calamari) with marinara sauce (i like it spicy so i add crushed red pepper). Good size portions and reasonable pricing make this the go to spot in the area. Try for yourself you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend. Buon Appetito!"
