"Service was terrible, server didn’t know anything about the food. She was nice enough, but far from knowledgeable. Another employee kept wanting to clear our plates, so we finally handed them to her with mouths full of food and forks in our hands. That was a bit annoying. Wine list is way overrated and WAY overpriced. It definitely seems like a “wannabe” restaurant. Everything is totally overrated. Food was actually good, but that was the only positive about our experience. Server said they didn’t have potatoes, but somehow my scallops came out with potatoes on the plate. Confused me even more. "rude, rude, rude! I called a week in advance for a party on 20 people. they said I was all ready, I had a table reserved and everything. to the luck I called the day before to confirm because they completely dropped my reservation. After waiting for 20 minutes, 4 people answered and told me that I had never stopped and that they could not join my party. to boot, the waitress hanged on me when I asked what to do. I called back, talked to the owner, no repentance. great customer service, snookers (just a sweat that I am attracted, there are other places to drink and play pool."

"We had a 5 pm reservation and were seated at 4:55pm. Server got our drinks and we said we were ready order and she said she would be right back. We did not see her for 10-15 minutes (She had another section her 1st night she said).In the meantime, multiple tables were seated in a row and when we were given a new server, no one knew who was seated first, so our order was not taken until 5:30pm. Multiple tables around us that were seated after us had their orders taken and got their food before us. I do not blame the waiter. He was wonderful and hustled and did all he could in the situation. I realize that it is hard to get help these days and they were obviously short staffed, but I think some training needs to be done with hostess staff or something put in place to let wait staff know the order guests were seated. That being said everyone was friendly. Now on to the food: They used to serve bread, unsure if that is the case anymore as we didn’t receive any. My walnut salad, which is supposed to have goat cheese according to the menu, came out with Gorgonzola, so it had to be replaced. We ordered 2 meals to eat there and 2 to go entrees. When we received those, one of them was missing the salad, so the server had to go retrieve it for us. The 2nd one we realized after getting home (ordered blackened salmon blt) was supposed to be on wheat according to the menu and it was on marble rye. I would also say the dishes that were on special that we had ordered could have used a little more of the lemon garlic sauce/was dry. We want to try again sometime, but I hope management will take into account the things that need to be addressed/improved upon as this was not our best experience nor our first at Walnut. I know everyone is trying to do their best we just hope they will take note. The reason I put a low score for value is due to the time we had to wait and the incorrect items. The bill was well over $100 for 4 meals before tip and no appetizers or dessert ordered."

"Asked about dairy allergy and server tried to tell us all bread has dairy the item in question was brioche which is dairy, but simply wanted to substitute white bread or roll) to which she questioned me and said all bread has dairy.Pulled pork was worse than theme park food, ordered a dozen wings and only got 6, and again rather than offering to check with the kitchen got told we can't eat bread and we're wrong even though my girlfriend is the one living with the allergies; I know what she can and cannot eat, as well as the standard ingredients for normal bread lol. Overpriced as well, and water cups were stuck when we sat down to a clearly dirty table wouldn't care but cups were upside down so the part you sip was stuck to table from filth)"

"This was our first time visiting the restaurant in Chesterfield. We frequent the Sunset Hills location often, but were not impressed with the quality at Chesterfield. We tried the Spedini, which was unfortunately very dry. Despite ordering it with the creamy sauce, we were served marinara instead. The waitress insisted that this was correct, but we didn't argue as we were in a rush to get to a concert. The restaurant was busy and the waitress was pleasant, but we were overall disappointed with our meal. Our friends, who were also first-time visitors, had a similar experience with the dry Spedini. On a positive note, the brussel sprouts were excellent."

"Terrible! the only good was the 2 **** marys that took 15 minutes to come. restaurant was not busy. we waited an hour and 20 minutes to the breakfast. came in spores. should have been amazingly correct. 2 of 7 actually disgusting. not edible. I wanted to talk to the manager after we were kellnerin, how unhappy we were and this guy. this arrogant man was really incredible. everything he did was talk. I ended screaming and shaking what should never happen. he should be fired, but he won't because, as he told me, short staff blah blah and call people sick. terrible. do not go"

"The food at this restaurant is top-notch and I usually opt for delivery. However, on my last order when I requested my burgers to be rare, they arrived overcooked and extremely well-done. Everyone makes mistakes, so I am willing to give them another chance, especially since they have never messed up before. "my man and I visited this diner on Friday morning and we both had our masks up and decided to sit on the back at one of the stands. there were these dame who worked the casser and every time she would pass our table, she would cough loudly. first I thought wow, she should wear a mask if she doesn't feel good, but after the third time, my man and I observed that she did it only every time she went past the table. Finally, the previous time (yes it was a forward) she did the fake cough thing and admired her coworkers); that strengthened what we suspected was doing it before. I thought that would not be nice to treat customers who wear their masks in an NJ restaurant. the bad news is, we will never return this dune thanks to it; the good news is raymond is just a few steps away and is much more inviting with better manage and customer service."

"The floors were do dirty and sticky that we could feel and hear our shoes ripping off the stick as we walked. Our table was not clean or set for us despite our reservation (wet cup rings from prior party and no flatware or napkins). The windows on the doors dividing the dining rooms were so thick with fingerprints that it was impossible to see through them. Many menu items listed on the website were not presented on the buffet, such as the eggs benedict, fresh omlettes, carrots, muffins/danishes, cod. Much of the food was not well prepared. The pasta was dry and overcooked. The chicken was mushy and underwhelming. The salads were drenched in salad dressing. The scrambled eggs were over cooked. The cheesecake was warm and melting and the only other dessert was perhaps German chocolate cake, but it was impossible to determine what it was. Our server was certainly nice enough, but she never took any of our dirty plates away and we were never given the option for clean flatware. I definitely expect a cleaner restaurant, better quality food, and much better service for a $25 lunch buffet. I will not go back."

"This is far more like fine dining than Diner would suggest. This weekend we were here 3 times. Dinner Friday, Breakfast and Dinner Sunday. We were hosting out of town guests and brought 3 different groups to Chit Chat...foodies, children, fussy eaters and those with allergies and big appetites ALL VERY SATISFIED. The food is spectacular here. Fresh, delicious, generous portions. Whether you 're coming for breakfast (which I 've done multiple times), a working lunch or a relaxed dinner the Menu and Specials do it all. There 's not only something for everyone, it 's always consistent, delicious, hot and there will be leftovers. Our son loves the fig and gouda burger. I 've recently tried their chicken and waffles and their fried chicken is absolutely delicious (the individual bottle of syrup a sweet touch)... but so is their gyro platter, with THE BEST Greek fries EVER. They often have a roasted chicken that 's exceptional too. Their French onion, Chicken Noodles, Creamy Mushroom and Matzoh Ball soups are DELICIOUS. This weekend was the first time I gave their bar a try. My Mai Tai was perfect (and strong), my cousin 's jalapeño margaritas was sweet, spicy, salty and sour delicious. Saving the best for last. Service. These servers work their tails off. They 're attentive, fast, efficient, and terribly friendly. On Friday, we got there an hour before 2 others from our group. Our server paced accordingly. He never rushed us and he gushed with appreciation when our tip was tripled to accommodate for a table that could have turned over twice in the time that we were there. Bussing tables is an art, one part attentive to snag dishes as they empty without being too pesky. Their reach is always right, careful and comes with a thank you. I 've never had a bad server. I 've never had a mistake with an order. Sunday night we were a big group everyone got what they ordered, same time and fast. The hosts have a tough job since there 's usually a bit of a wait... they 're friendly and fast. And, the owner is hyper vigilant and exacting... making sure everything is right, perfect. And, that 's the recipe for a place where you keep wanting to return. It 's a bit busy, the decor... but eclectic and fun. Think, Alice in Wonderland fell into fine dining. The view. Hopefully you get a window seat on a clear day!! Yes, go try it! Vegetarian options: This is my go to with vegetarian friends. Vegans even. There 's always a couple options on Specials. And, the regular menu has plenty to choose from... you 're not just stuck looking at salad. Dietary restrictions: We had 2 guests one with allergies, one elderly with specific needs. They 're CAREFUL about allergies, checked each time the question was asked. My elderly Aunt raved about how perfectly they prepared to her specifications. Kid friendliness: Kids love this place, the vibrant colors, the activities left at the table, the view. The food options!!"

"Did not get seated until 5:52. Ordered food and drink at 6:03 and salad/soup arrived at 6:30, dinner arrived at 7:25. 2 of us couldn’t eat entree because we had 6:45 Christmas Eve church service. Remaining party missed traditional family experience to get dinner. Church service was at 7:00 10 minutes away from restaurant. Reservation 4:45!!! Manager tried to excuse issues, reduced bill by 29%. He sat us because he said he would guarantee get out on time. He said the issue is that people were extending the time at their tables even when bill was paid. So, why was the kitchen so late?! I will not patronize this restaurant again."

"As always food was great!! Our favorite server John was getting ready to end his shift, and asked to stay later to serve our table, which the manager was so nice enough to allow. John is a great server, always has a smile, happy to give suggestion and very attentive. Beautiful evening on the patio celebrating my husband's birthday! This is our go to BBQ when we aren't at our other home in Texas! True BBQ! Meat platters are always great, cornbread is amazing, deviled eggs are a must, and I tried the carnitas tacos this time and they were delicious! Always a great experience!"

"on Easter Sunday in the expectation of a quantity, but there were tables available and many employees. our server was super nice, got us the free Moimosa deal (with order of a deer) and even asked me if I wanted a second 5 minutes a day (as the deal ends at 12:00 a.m.). frittata and avocado toast were both delicious, mimosas were mostly champagne and a generous size, our server was great and the atmosphere is really nice. we had been once, right after the place opened, the service was only so and eating was good, but the menu was a bit expensive, but this second visit feels like they had gotten their step, the menu has expanded and has more price range, and that was both eating great."

"My wife, daughter and I were visiting colleges, and next up was Caldwell University. We had some time to stop for lunch and tried the diner. Free parking was available in the back. We were greeted by several employees as we came in and were seated. Service was prompt, and drink refills came without asking. Food was excellent. My burger was a nice size and my side order of seasoned curly fries was bigger than expected. I ended up taking them home for a snack. My wife and daughter also enjoyed their food. "At first we were happily surprised the place was busy but there was seating available. The issue started inside, it was very loud where we were sitting so the group decided to move outside. They sat at a table but were asked to move by a staff member so they moved to a table to the right of the door as you're facing the entrance. There, we were inundated with bugs while we waited for our food which took a long time. Our appetizers were being attacked by the bugs and we had to keep shoeing them away. When our food finally came out it was brought out piece meal. The last plate by a person literally dripping sweat. Then the bugs were getting in our food, it was not a good experience. Everything took forever, refills, our orders, any requests. I had to go inside to get a few things myself. While sitting there my GF realized the table is located right over two manholes. The staff was friendly enough but it didn't really make up for the rest. I mentioned to the server about the bugs and they made it like that's normal for sitting outside. Maybe they should try to sit there waiting for food for an hour just so you can fight the bugs while you try to eat. We won't make that mistake again. Could have been allot better!!"
