"We had a 5 pm reservation and were seated at 4:55pm. Server got our drinks and we said we were ready order and she said she would be right back. We did not see her for 10-15 minutes (She had another section her 1st night she said). In the meantime, multiple tables were seated in a row and when we were given a new server, no one knew who was seated first, so our order was not taken until 5:30pm. Multiple tables around us that were seated after us had their orders taken and got their food before us. I do not blame the waiter. He was wonderful and hustled and did all he could in the situation. I realize that it is hard to get help these days and they were obviously short staffed, but I think some training needs to be done with hostess staff or something put in place to let wait staff know the order guests were seated. That being said everyone was friendly. Now on to the food: They used to serve bread, unsure if that is the case anymore as we didn’t receive any. My walnut salad, which is supposed to have goat cheese according to the menu, came out with Gorgonzola, so it had to be replaced. We ordered 2 meals to eat there and 2 to go entrees. When we received those, one of them was missing the salad, so the server had to go retrieve it for us. The 2nd one we realized after getting home (ordered blackened salmon blt) was supposed to be on wheat according to the menu and it was on marble rye. I would also say the dishes that were on special that we had ordered could have used a little more of the lemon garlic sauce/was dry. We want to try again sometime, but I hope management will take into account the things that need to be addressed/improved upon as this was not our best experience nor our first at Walnut. I know everyone is trying to do their best we just hope they will take note. The reason I put a low score for value is due to the time we had to wait and the incorrect items. The bill was well over $100 for 4 meals before tip and no appetizers or dessert ordered."

I really enjoy the spiedini! The service is consistently excellent as well.

The food was average. The service was good, but the fish contained bones throughout. Spent $100 for two meals.

Walnut Grill was very accommodating to our birthday party celebrating 93 years. Thank you to server Jerry who was pleasant and efficient. View menu

Everything was exceptional! The food was tasty, and every aspect, from the portion sizes to the attentive table service, was carefully considered. I’ll definitely be coming back next year.

Good food and a nice atmosphere. The bar area is quite loud however. Service was ok. It was on the get 'em in and get 'em out style as an example, we weren 't even offered a drink before we ordered our food, the server wanted it all at once.

First time eating here on Thanksgiving! The food was delicious and fresh. Our server was friendly and attentive. The cost was extremely affordable as well! The bathroom was also clean which is an A plus in my book!! Will definitely be back and recommend! View menu

very disappointed. I made a reservation for Thanksgiving Day, not where the menu said it was just buffet. my man can not eat a lot, so we didn't want a buffet especially on $30.00 very limited selection of food on the buffet. Beyond that is a glass tee in worth $3.25 will never go back.

Honestly, our experience was disappointing. While staffing shortages might have played a role, we found that our water glasses were not refilled, drinks took a long time to arrive, and when the food finally came, only 5 of the 6 dishes were served (and some of the food was not even warm). After waiting for 10-15 minutes and having to check in with the kitchen, the sixth dish finally arrived, but it was already quite cold. We were charged for everything. Fortunately, we had great company, or this would have been a one-star review.

"My boyfriend and I came to this place during our visit to St. Louis after reading rave reviews about it online. We went in well-dressed and excited with high expectations, but unfortunately were left feeling extremely disappointed and underwhelmed. Dining at the restaurant definitely taught us a lot about the ozark history. I have a lot of respect for the time and enthusiasm the owner put into researching the history, arranging youtube videos, and conveying this information to the guests. His concerns about the environment and zero-waste efforts are also very laudable. His direct interactions with all of the guests and attempts to answer questions were refreshing. The food, however, was very lacking and mediocre. The concept of watching your food being made is fun and exciting. Understandably, they can’t make everything and plenty is prepared in advance. Except they really didn’t seem to make much of anything at all. A few grilled mushrooms here, and a delicate but also pompous plating there and that’s it. I know there’s probably a kitchen in the back and they work throughout the day as most kitchens do, but this gaudy element of pseudo showmanship missed a serious mark. Again, that’s fine. It’s an aesthetic and part of the bulrush experience. What annoys me is the price tag and the faint whiff of haughtiness that comes with it. The kitchen hands also looked apathetic, disinterested, and lacked focus. They didn’t look like professional chefs, just professional food assemblers. I did not trust that they knew to prepare food properly and that was evident in what was eventually served. The food was either too plain, too sour, too salty, or overall a very big disappointment. The steak had so many big chunks of fat in it that I was only able to eat about half of it. The poissants were cute but definitely not something I would pay that much money for, especially given that there were only about two small pieces of it on our plates. The beets, brussel sprouts, asparagus, fried onions that we were served, I can find and reproduce in my own kitchen. For the amount of money we paid, I expected a lot more flavor, unique ingredients, and creativity. I asked the owner why Ozark and he admitted it was an entrepreneurial strategy to stand out. He loved to repeat to our audience that night that “no one else” is doing it! Well when you taste the food you can kinda see why? I can’t deny though that the chefs know how to make something look appetizing in pictures. That’s what initially attracted us to the restaurant. The pretty platings and colorfully spectacular arrangements were what got us in the door. The experience has been worth it in the sense that for all that we paid for, we got a good lesson to not eat with our eyes, and a funny story to tell our friends back at home."
