"TL;DR: Wrong order, poor service, long wait time, hidden 20% surcharge We used to love Serai and dined here frequently, and I usually do not post negative reviews. While the food was still delicious, our last experience at Serai was quite disappointing. 1) It took them 45 minutes after we placed our order to receive our food. Other tables that were seated after us received their food much more quickly. 2) Ordering food was a hassle. We ordered the sambal eggplant (one of our old favorites) and rendang shrimp. We received a shrimp dish which we thought was our rendang shrimp and after confirming with the server that it was rendang shrimp. But after eating it, we realized it was sambal shrimp. We sent it back with half a plate full so we could receive our sambal eggplant and the server said he would “fix it right away”. The eggplant never came, and we were charged for it. When we tried to get the charge removed, the server replied “well you ate it”. 3) Without telling you on their menu or website, they tack on a 20% service surcharge when you get your bill. With the long wait time, wrong food, getting charged for a dish we didn’t eat, and the 20% automatic surcharge, our favorite Malaysian restaurant sadly has now become a place we will not visit again."

"Today is my birthday, and my husband invited me to have dinner here. The two of us ordered six dishes, wow! The portion was so big that I couldn't finish it, so I ended up packing it up and taking it back. When I started ordering, I ordered husband and wife's lung slices, a famous snack in our hometown. My Shandong husband didn't understand, so he directly told me what's delicious about my lung slices and who should eat that! When the food arrived, I took a bite and said it was delicious, so I kept picking up the food. The food was served quickly, and all 6 dishes were ready in no time. My husband said every dish was delicious and praised it full of praises, of course! I ordered all the classic dishes from our hometown. Eating the delicious dishes from my hometown, I suddenly felt like I had returned to China. I really missed home! I haven’t been back for several years... The business of this store is really good. The two of us drove here after get off work and all the seats were full. There were some people waiting in line at the door. We waited for about 20 minutes after queuing up. The young man at the front desk had a special personality. Okay, it made people very happy. I asked him his name was Xiaobin? Or this soldier? Anyway, he is very talkative and makes people happy anyway. When I said today was my birthday, he immediately wished me a happy birthday, which is really heart-warming! Thank you Xiaobin! All staff provide warm service, thank you! Let me have a great birthday! By the way, the boss also gave me two bottles of iced black tea as a gift, thank you boss! I wish you a prosperous business and abundant financial resources! The food here is not only delicious, but the portions are also very generous. "I highly recommend the Crispy Fried Tofu, Basil Eggplant, and Mee Grob. The chicken satay is quite large, resembling big chicken tenders; however, while the outside has that nice satay flavor, the inside is a bit bland. The fried spring rolls were not impressive—their only redeeming quality was the crispiness. The Basil Beef was good; I ordered it with medium spice and found it milder than expected, but it didn't have a strong basil flavor, although it was tasty in its own right. I'm avoiding carbs, and I noticed that everything seemed to have a hint of sweetness, which is typical for Thai cuisine, but this was less sweet than other Thai restaurants I've tried. Overall, the food is excellent; you just need to know what to choose."

"The new owner(s? of Mr. Wok maintain the tradition of offering a unique menu to the Waukesha/Pewaukee area. Contenders for my palate have so far included pad see ew (chicken , pad thai (chicken, also pictured , pad ka paw (beef, also pictured , red curry, paratha (with yellow bean/potato curry , and some truly refreshing spring rolls (pictured . So far my favorite has been the pad ka paw which was rich and flavorful with basil and and the spring rolls that surprised me by not being the boring fried version but instead were fresh, tightly wrapped vegetables with a great crunch. While those were my favorites so far, everything has been satisfying and I look forward to more of what their menu has to offer. Mr. Wok earns a solid recondition from me."

"Aux Epices has the charm of a cozy neighborhood restaurant. Although it's small, the atmosphere remains intimate. The owners are a couple from Malaysia and France. If you're in search of completely traditional Malaysian dishes that you already know, you might find yourself a bit let down. However, if you approach it as Malaysian cuisine with a French flair, you’ll likely be satisfied. I found the specials to be more impressive than the noodle dishes. The service is friendly, and you're bound to encounter some familiar faces. Prices are somewhat higher than typical for Chinatown, and it's important to note that they only accept cash."

"Wow! Every dish was incredibly unique, not to mention the combination of spices and flavors. The first time we've seen food served in a mango, and the flavors were very strong in a good way. The yellow rice had a subtle savory flavor that was not overwhelming at all, perfect for eating with other dishes. There was a spicy sauce that was served with the hainan chicken rice that we even ordered extra to take home. Most of the dishes we ordered were not spicy or mild, perfect for those who just want to try the flavor without any disruption. The Malaysian iced tea was most certainly unique, which I can only describe as a combination of coffee and boba flavor. The passion fruit juice may be a little too sweet but a squeeze of lime should make it a lot better. Out of all the mango sticky rice we've tried over the years, the rice here easily tops them all with black rice that is not too sticky or strong and complements the coconut flavor beautifully. The panna cotta itself was a bit too sweet, but the tanginess of the fruit on top made up for an extraordinary taste. The only issue we had was that that menu was lacking photos, making it difficult to order if you are unfamiliar with the ingredients. Overall, I heavily recommend this place if you are looking to eat something special in the area with both great taste, presentation and service. We will definitely be back to try more on the menu."

"5Jan2023 Heavy rainy day. Storming and flooding Decided to try Nonya Cafe as I am Indonesian and looking for a taste of home. I could make it at home but realistically, i don 't have the time. I took myself out on a date today and got the Beef Rendang, es Milo, and kue pepe. The second they all hit my mouth, i nearly cried at how good it was. It 's home. The calming piano soundtrack really helped too. Hand sanitizer at every table. Owner is using mask and gloves when handing out food. A bit pricey for all of it (almost $30usd just for 1 person so definitely will not be an every day thing. beef Rendang: extremely tender and slightly spicy. Good amount of salt and spices. Pickled veggies are perfection. I would make it like this at home. Cracker a little stale/soft but that might be because of the steam. Fried, hard boiled egg is like how my parents would make it. es milo: just like my childhood. kue pepe: coconuty and the right amount of sweet. The restaurant is very clean and well kept. The owners (i think? are very kind and efficient. No frills. I will forever recommend this restaurant."

"Good place to eat southeast Asian food. We have been coming here before the pandemic and this was the first time that we came back after the pandemic. We ordered their crispy chicken and water spinach with garlic. We noticed that the serving is smaller now compared to pre- pandemic . Anyway the food still taste good and delicious."
