"We visited this restaurant without a reservation after an event in downtown, and we were fortunate to snag two seats at the bar. Describing it as a bistro is quite fitting. While the menu is somewhat limited, everything we tried was excellent. The service was a bit slow, likely due to the restaurant being quite full. We started with the escargot, which was outstanding and perfect for sharing. We ordered a bottle of Sancerre; it was good, though it felt a bit overpriced. The cassoulet was different from what I've had in other French restaurants—not creamy at all—but it was still decent in its own way. My wife really loved the sole; it was well-prepared and flavorful. We would definitely come back again, but we’d make sure to have a reservation next time."

"I really enjoyed Bistro Agnes. It's on a corner, and I had a nice view of the city street outside. It was cozy on a winter evening. The lighting was romantic, not too bright or too dark, but just right, with a small candle (votive) on each table. The light-colored wood was beautiful; I really liked the atmosphere. I had a glass of Malbec, which was delicious. I ordered the Butter Lettuce Salad, which was really tasty. It had a nice vinaigrette on it. The bread was pretty good, warm with a big enough slab of butter to not run out. For my entree, I had the Beef Bourguignon. It was phenomenal. The beef was so tender it melted in my mouth. It was in a nice, dark brown sauce, with a few caramelized onions and button mushrooms. The buttered egg noodles came on the side. They also gave me a tiny serving of vichyssoise with the bread. It was an amazing meal. I didn't have room for dessert. So glad I tried Bistro Agnes, and I will definitely be back."

"We started with the onion tart and the scallop quenelles with caviar. Both were beyond good. My son was in raptures over the tart. Both had the stuffed quail which was fabulous. The fennel and fruit side was soo good and the quail meat and sausage were excellent. We shared a chocolate soufflé for desert and it was the best. Accompanied by a vanilla ice cream nicely garnished with nuts. I started with a glass of sparkling and then had the Sancerre. Excellent evening. We highly recommend."

"Worst Dining Experience in NYC!!! . We had a reservation for 3 at 630pm. Hostess seated us along the rows of high tables with high chairs. We requested a regular dining table since some of them were vacant however they said it’s reserved for other guest coming in around 20mins later. It was hard to eat since the seats are very uncomfortable. They offered us a regular dining table however we already finished our meal, they said they had a cancellation. We were hoping to celebrate Mother’s Day and have the best dining experience but it was the opposite. Food served don’t taste great either even the side dish we ordered mussels and they gave us french fries on the side. The pork chop was bland and hard to eat. In comparison to the price, food and service value is below par than other French and Italian restaurant. Will not come back to this restaurant again."

"We were in town for our nephew's wedding. We looked at reviews of La Jolla restaurants and settled on Le Petit Bistrot. We had no idea the restaurant was actually owned by a French couple who had come over here just this year. It has a charming atmosphere. The husband is the Chef and his wife was both our hostess and server. My wife had their mussels which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the rack of lamb which was done to perfection. The Chef came out to meet us and his wife was very attentive. We sat on their 3rd story veranda facing westward toward the sunset. It was a beautiful evening which greatly added to our dining experience. We're hoping they make it and make it big. It's always refreshing to see nice people pursuing the American Dream. We highly recommend the Le Petit Bistrot."

"We are looking for a go to spot that has the trifecta of ambience, service and great wine and food. Café Colleen has two out of the three. They have a great vibe, wow the booths for two near the kitchen were so fun! Plus, the service is always good. Last night the wine was nice but unfortunately, the food kept disappointing! It was our third visit and we were bummed that it was not consistent. Our server was nice, great table and setting nice glass of wine but we didn't love our meal. So sad! The house salad with a generous amount of delicious butter lettuce was soggy last night and it was over dressed with the tarragon vinaigrette. Such a disappointment from our expectations. The beet salad was OK, but maybe because it was a Monday, veggies just weren't that fresh. I don't know! We then ordered bread to comfort us and it was not remarkable in anyway! So if you're a person who loves a restaurant with a consistently good salad and bread this is not the place for you. The salmon entree was the winner of the night! The crispy potato crust and moist salmon with those mushrooms and spinach was all divine! The sea bass was good, but my husband preferred my salmon so we shared. We're going to keep looking for the trifecta but most importantly, consistency in food quality."

"We ordered tuna tartare, bone marrow, frisée salad, French onion soup and the crème brûlée. Because it was a birthday, they also came out with a huge pile of pink cotton candy with a sparkler on top. The atmosphere was business casual with only the boisterously drunk man at the bar breaking the silence. Wait staff are quick and friendly. The item that killed it for us was the Tuna Tartare. It was refreshing, flavorful and just.. I could have eaten 4 of them as my main meal. The most disappointing was the bone marrow. Overall flavor was “okay” but portions were subpar. I understand not all bones are created equal, but we expected a little more substance when ordering. We were able to take the bones home for the pup, which made it more worth it for us. Second best was the French onion soup. The onions were cooked down to almost nothing. Plenty of cheese and the flavor was pretty good all around. The salad was about what you would expect, greens, croutons, fatty flavorful thick pieces of pork (like a bacon or belly cut chopped into bite sized pieces). The egg was perfectly poached. Dressing was light. Paired with a coffee stout and a modelo as our drinks. I would repeat our visit for the tuna alone. Left spending a little over $100 after tip for two people."

".We moved to the DMV almost 4years ago, and been enjoying the adventure of eating our way through the pack of French restaurants that seem to be everywhere in the DMV. We were so charmed by this little gem. The food was delicious (who knew a Caesar salad could be so good you craved it afterwards). The staff well informed and engaging. I only wish the weather would have cooperated so we could have sat outside on their adorable patio. Next time, we’re going to try eating at Bar Vin, their bar (full menu) just next door."

"Eating outside late in October is a special treat. Our table was nestled in between two very efficient heaters, providing a pleasant and comfortable experience. The service was excellent with suggestions of cocktails and food made by our fun and knowledgeable waiter. Having the former chef of the now closed Bergamont was another special treat. It was a pleasure to have his incredibly flavored food again. From the beautiful and delicious beet salad and Pate de Camagne to the roast duck breast and Flank steak the three of us were glad to have dined at Bisq and look forward to doing so again- and soon."

"Beautiful restaurant great food. However service, or lack of it, absolutely ruined the evening. We were excited to try the food and end the evening with the famous banana foster. The server made no recommendations; never checked on us, and took forever to deliver food. We spent 2 hours there mostly waiting. Finally we realized that trying to get banana foster would result in probably 2 more hours so we decided to leave. "The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely and charming. Although the outdoor seating was appealing, it was quite windy during our visit. The service was exceptionally attentive. We both ordered the filet mignon, which was a good steak—though not the absolute best I've ever had, it was cooked very well, especially considering the price. The Nutella lava cake was fantastic. I would definitely return if I were in North Beach again."

"This is a new restaurant with exceptional French food hidden on the ground floor of a condo building. The server/owner was very knowledgeable. I started with escargot which was cooked in front of the table and poured into a pasta shell. There were a dozen where most restaurants serve six. My main dish was three large scallops in an amazing pasta that I could not get enough of. It was so well done it tasted like risotto at first. My guest had steak which was perfectly cooked. Deserts were an Apple Tart which my guest liked. I was full and ordered an chocolate ice cream. The drinks were very good as was the service and the price was very affordable. Since this is a neighborhood gem of a restaurant I look forward to visiting it again. I highly recommend it."

"We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Ambiance is nice, it’s an eclectic feel, small and cozy. The food here is fantastic, well worth the visit. However, we were seated quite awhile before anyone came by. In fact, people were seated next to us and helped before anyone came to us, so we cannot give this restaurant five stars for service- four might even be pushing it. The waiter was adequate but lacked a sense of warmth that would have made us feel welcomed. Overall, better than average overall experience but room for improvement in the service area."

"My friend and I thought the pictures of this place looked cool. We came in to the city just to dine here. It was an arduous trip getting in due to traffic on 95 north. We were super hungry and thirsty. The restaurant didn’t have any of the “ herbal prized cocktails “ that the place is named for. I’m thinking this is important to have the ingredients on hand. 🤷‍♀️ We ordered spring rolls and flatbread with chicken on it. It was Indian pizza , not bad, but not an appetizer. It was very filling. I wish our server had told us , we wouldn’t have ordered dinners too. Both of our dinners were just ok. Butter chicken and salmon . Everything is really salty and very much Indian spiced. I wish I had known the food was Indian before I booked this restaurant, i need to be in the mood for Indian. I gave it three stars because the server never stopped looking at his phone . . It doesn’t deserve more than that rating , or a return trip back."
