"Branzino is an italian seafood restaurant located in center city Philadelphia. Don't make a reservation. The real draw of this place is the outdoor seating, which is reserved for walk-ins. Reservations also come with a $40 charge if you don't show.I was very unimpressed with my experience here, specifically with the service. I made a reservation, and was placed at probably the worst table in a nearly empty dining hall. It was next to a pillar blocking the view of the restaurant, in the middle of a walkway. We had a different person take the order, refill drinks, and serve food, none of which even introduced themselves. The staff seemed more concerned with running past us to deal with the outdoor tables. No one explained the menu or made recommendations. Our food took an unusual amount of time to come out of the kitchen. We didn't receive our main course until 75 min. after our arrival. We also had to interrupt the busser to track down our check. The food was rather predictable and boring. We wanted to sample each of the courses on their menu, but the service and kitchen were so slow we skipped dessert. I ordered grilled octopus for a starter, artichoke ravioli for middle, and salmon for main. The octopus was tasty, with attention to the flavors bouncing back and forth between the sauce and octopus. Sadly, it was downhill from there. The ravioli was dry only tasted of buttered noodles. The salmon was overcooked, possibly from sitting under a heat lamp too long. Spinach, salmon, and chickpea were basic pairings that didn't justify the price tag.Branzino is a good restaurant if you're local to the area (parking is a nightmare, and they are doing construction down the street). Simply get a few friends, walk in, sit out back, and have an overpriced snack. This was a one and done for me."
