"I arranged for a large group to eat in this restaurant while we visited from the city for a sporting event. it was the birthday of our trainer and we wanted to celebrate. I called well in advance, made a reservation for 26 people and explained that we would need separate controls from the family. I then called the day before to talk to the manager and confirm the reservation to ensure that they are properly occupied. despite my efforts when we arrived, there was only one person waiting for us, and they let our tables take off from a cool evening. fortunately they had set heating so we were in order, but no one told me that during booking and I would have warned the people in our party to dress warm. the one waitress that served us was rude, she was obviously not happy to deal with us, and told us that we all had to be on a deck. I explained that I had spoken to the manager and that we could join together to make fewer controls, but we could not make a big review because this would be too complicated. a person in our party also had an allergy and when they told her about it, she seemed upset about what she concerned so that she went and went somewhere else. she was very unhappy and made it very obvious. it took 45 minutes to get drinks (and come to find out some of the children never even drink at all, not even water) and we were not served our food until an hour and a half of the waiting. it was a terrible experience and ruined what should have been a beautiful evening. I tried to talk to the manager three times after I let him know that he could be aware of the problems that occurred, but he was never available to talk to me."

"On June 2 at 7:15 pm, I invited some friends to join us for dinner at the Coliseum restaurant. My family and friends and I booked a reservation for tonight two weeks ago. We often travel from Texas to Newport Coast. The Pelican Hotel and all of its restaurants were a pleasant experience for us. Tonight, we had a terrible experience, and I was highly disappointed in your service. Firstly, it took half an hour for someone to take our order at the table. After that, we waited more than an hour for our food. The medium well-done meat on my plate was completely undercooked, and no one asked if we needed anything else. Three wine glasses are needed. It took me two attempts to get a response from the waitress. When I walked up to the bar, the bartender gave me three wine glasses. No one came to clean the table and prepare it for dessert after we finished eating. Since I had to do it myself, we ordered five coffees and two teas when the dessert arrived. It took two or three times for someone to give my grandma the heater, as she was very ill. When I asked the waitress about the bag, she said she had already given it to you. There was something wrong with our coffee. It was cold, old, and tasted awful. Despite paying more than 250 dollars for the service fee and leaving a tip, I had a disappointing experience at your restaurant tonight. If I have a complaint about a restaurant, I prefer to speak with the management directly instead of writing a review. At the Pelican Hotel, such things shouldn't happen. In general, I don't write reviews when I have a problem, but I was having trouble contacting the manager of this restaurant."

"My wife and I have eaten there twice in the past 4 to 5 weeks, and both times I have been very disappointed with my food and service. On the first occasion there were screaming kids in the large center table having a birthday party so we sat out on the patio. You would have thought we had the plague because it was next to impossible to get service out there. My wife ordered the clam linguini which she liked. I ordered the lasagna, and when it was served, the sauce was steaming hot but the inside of the lasagna was cool, It obviously sat in the cold refrigerator too long and they did not heat it up enough in the oven. Our second dinner very recently, again my wife ordered the clam linguini which was fine. I told the server we wanted to order a large pizza and asked her the difference between their two styles (fancy Italian names), and she informed me that one was thin crust and the other thick crust. We deduced to get the thick crust, so I ordered a large sausage and mushroom thick crust pizza. When it arrived, it was served on a large round pizza tray, but was a smaller rectangle shaped pizza cut in 8 square pieces. I asked the server if this was a large pizza and she said that the thick crust pizza only comes in one size! She said nothing about that when I ordered a large thick crust pizza! Worst, you could hardly find the sausage on the pizza. They apparently took an Italian sausage and sliced it very thin probably on a mandolin, and the slices were paper thin. They were scattered over the pizza but you could hardly taste them at all. Sauce was the only think you could taste. Very disappointed! I rated them 2 stars because my wife liked the clam linguini, but the rest of the meal was a total bust. We will not be going back there again."

"You can never go wrong with any dishes here, every dish I ordered or my coworker's dishes was always delicious and superb. Our waitress Annie is wonderful and always checking our table, and drinks filling up. Since my work is just a couple of buildings away, it's a staple for our office to head over for lunch at least one or twice a month. I was first introduced to the butternut squash raviolis back in 2019 and just fell in love with the restaurant. (I believe it's a seasonal dish in the fall the best butternut squash ravioli I ever tasted. Looking forward for that dish in the fall of this year. (Please don't discontinue it, I freaking love it! Now for the ambiance, we came during lunch and I don't think I ever been here for dinner but that will change after this week. Lunch on Wednesday, March 15, wasn't too crowd, we came as a party of 6 and services was great. Upon ordering our dishes, basket of bread and butter came out in the meantime while our food was being cooked. With a baskets of breads and just catching up on conversations, I'll say our food came out in a timely manner. We weren't in a rush, plus we haven't seen each other for a while and let me tell you, when the dishes came out it was hot and look at my dish. (I got the shrimp scampi, lunch meal and those shrimps HUGE!! Juicy and not over cooked. Honestly, that might be my second favorite dish now."
