"It was New Year's Eve, and the waiter was very polite and friendly. However, it seemed that the kitchen wasn't quite ready for the rush that comes with the holiday. We waited 15 minutes for our cocktails and then an hour and 15 minutes for our dinner, which consisted of two entrees and a side. Unfortunately, the salmon was overcooked, dry, and not what we ordered. The eggplant was tasty, but the steamed bok choy lacked flavor. Overall, despite the issues with the meal, we had a decent experience. We were just happy to have a couple of hours to catch up without interruptions. In the end, we still enjoyed a wonderful New Year's Eve."

"I visited Shogun 3 for my dad's birthday with a group of 7. Dad was excited for his first hibachi show, and we were happily watching the older chef cook for 2 other tables. While the younger hibachi chef cooked extremely quickly, we were disappointed by the lack of entertainment and interaction no food toss into mouth, no egg juggling, the onion fire lasted only a second, any any of the normal gimmicks. It felt incredibly rushed and was just him cooking on a flat top. One order our Shogun Special order was incomplete. The waitress wrote it down correctly on the slip. After i pointed out we were missing an order, chicken and 3 shrimps were added. After everyone received their meals, I realized the steak was missing for the Shogun Special had to point this out again. Towards the end, my brother's steak was cooked after we had mostly finished eating, causing him to box his food. The experience fell disappointingly short for the $306 (w. Tip) we spent, and we were hoping for more flair and fun in the performance."

"Be prepared because this might be a long review. Okay, me and my family of 7 adults and 4 children came in to celebrate my sister 's birthday. We asked them if they do all you can eat and they said yes. Okay, cool. We all sit down and we agree to the AYCE and begin ordering. We order about 5 plates of sushi and 1 order of fried rice for the kids. Next thing you know our server brings 4 plates of dumplings and a couple of bowls of edamame. We tell her, we didnt order it and she said its on the house from chef. We were confused but said okay. She then comes with more plates of dumplings and we ask her to stop because we didn 't order it. We sat there waiting for our sushi and it took about 35 minutes to bring out our 1 plate. 15 minutes later, the next one came. Because of how slow the service was, we made a big order for the next one so we dont have to keep waiting. The next order came aftee 30 minutes again. We were trying not to complain because we saw they were short staffed. And then we ordered again. As my brother was walking out with my sister, the head of the restaurant told them that because of us, they have to shut down the restaurant because they can 't serve all of us. He even told next time you guys come, we will have to deny you guys because of how many you guys are! Wait what? DISCRIMINATION! My older brother and sister gave him a piece of our mind and he did not apologize. He just shrugged and acted like we were the problem. But hold up, I didnt add the other petty things this man did. When he came around the table, i tried to be courteous and gather the plates and stack it for him and he goes Can you please not stack that? Because its hard for me to take it? And then when my sister lifted her glass for him to take to refill, he told her please put it on the table and then ill take it This asian man, looks like the head or manager of the restaurant was giving off this weird racist vibes since we got there. The fact he even blamed us that they have t9 close the restaurant because of our orders just shows how incompetent they are to run a business. Oh btw, we were the only family there for a good 2 hours so I dont know why it took so long for them to make our sushi. Please don 't go to this restaurant especially if you are of color. Just horrible!!!"

"Maru Sushi is on Powell Street, along the Powell-Hyde cable car line on the south side of Nob Hill, just a few blocks up from Union Square. It is a modest and pleasant-looking restaurant, with friendly service and excellent sushi. We had a California roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll on the lunch special $16), and the Swamp $16.50), which despite its unappetizing name was very tasty. Many other items are available. A cup of Jasmine tea was a bit steep at $4 a pot of loose tea for two would have been more economical). Overall it was a good lunch experience."

"This place offers great views of the bay but the service was terrible. First they started off by being out of a few drink items on the menu (not a huge deal). Then after we got our first round of drinks it took 40 minuets to even have our food order placed. When someone finally came over the first thing they said was just so you know it 's going to be a while for sushi . I asked how long was a while and they replied a while . Not super helpful. Turns out they were short staffed which is not their fault exactly but a while turned out to be over 2 hours (from placing our order) for bland sushi. My fault for going to what was I guess a tourist place but still, would not recommend."

"I had a disappointing experience at this Japanese restaurant. While the rolls might be acceptable, I wouldn't recommend trying the sashimi or chirashi—the fish was not fresh at all. Additionally, the kitchen appeared dirty, and the overall experience felt more Chinese than Japanese. The service was awful; the waitress was particularly unhelpful. When I asked if I could substitute a soup for another dish, she cut me off before I could finish my question. In the end, I had to throw away my food."

"It was a little bit of a wait, but we picked this up and were so pleasantly amazed with this food! The sushi rolls were beautiful, fresh, and yummy with great sauces. The teriyaki chicken, rice, and dumplings were perfect for the kiddos. The chicken was super moist! Everyone loved the egg drop soup. We should've got more for the kiddos! I can't remember what the Noodle dish was. We asked for it to be spicy and it was spot on! It was my favorite and it was the first dish gone. The fried rice was okay. Our batch was a little dry and bland. We added some of our own teriyaki sauce and it was perfect in the end. I would recommend asking for some teriyaki sauce in case your rice is a little dry, because it ended up being good! We are excited to go back!"

"We dined here last night hoping for hibachi. It was busy so no surprise there was a long wait so we chose a booth instead. Drinks and appetizers came out rather quickly but the entrees took a very long time. So long the waiter came back 2x to tellusit would be there shortly. No worries- we like fresh hot food. Once our food finally did arrive it was delicious but COLD. Myhusband also ordered a seafood platter that was short on the #of scallops he was supposed to have. I could see quite a bit ofconfusion in the back and it looked like they had lots of to-go orders so I didn't complain. We love this restaurant and oftenorder but specifically came so it would be hot&fresh (with the hope of a hibachi show). Food is always delicious, but apparentlylesson learned: stick to the hibachi side if you want your food hot."

"This was my first visit to the restaurant, and I was really impressed! The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. I ordered the tonkatsu bento box along with some sashimi, and everything was delicious. If you're looking for a great spot to unwind while enjoying Japanese cuisine, I highly recommend this place. They also offer boba tea, and I noticed many customers coming in and out with their drinks. Taro boba tea seemed to be a popular choice. I plan to go back tomorrow for some boba tea myself. I definitely suggest trying the bento box to sample a variety of dishes. Just a heads-up: parking can be challenging to find, and if you do locate a spot, be prepared to pay for it."

"I could have sworn I had written a review about this place, but I guess I didn't. This place definitely has the best sushi in the area. The prices are very reasonable and they give generous portions. The sushi is always fresh. I have been coming here since I was a baby, as did my dad and grandpa before me. I'm glad to see that they have survived all the craziness of the past couple of years. The staff even knows us by name! If you're looking for good sushi, this is the place to go. I still believe it's a hidden gem."

"Amazing dining experience! Very glad we made reservations Friday nights are BUSY. As others have mentioned the service is stellar; everyone that works here is straight up delightful. Service is speedy and the atmosphere is nice and bright and clean. Every single meal that I saw while there looked incredibly tasty. The vegetable gyoza are the best I’ve had in my life. Flavorful contents, perfectly crisp on one side, and paired with a tangy sauce that compliments them oh so well. Also you could drown me in their peanut sauce it’s so good I would thank you for your service. Sushi is all top notch and reasonably priced, there’s even an option to create your own roll! Mochi is absolutely out of this world. We had strawberry and mango second to none. Such a smooth texture, not sticky, and a real explosion of flavors. We will absolutely be back to this gem of a restaurant! Vegetarian options: Tofu is heavenly cooked perfectly!! Try it in the Thai basil fried rice you will not regret it."

"Tiny and cute restaurant in the heart of the town of Metuchen, NJ. Definitely, it is one of the best sushi place around NJ area. We ordered miso salad, then sushi spicy maki combo. In addition, we chose sashimi, which was pretty unique. Even though this sashimi was a thick cut, it was literally melting in your mouth. Another thing I want to point out is that I am not a big fun of wasabi, but this one had a lighter color and it was not as spicy as the ones I previously tasted. On a side note, customer service needs to improve their smile skills. Sushi Suzuki was overall a good experience."

"So this could have been a 5 Star Yelp review. But downgrading due to the lack of service on a Friday night. I blame management, and in this case, it could just be a family owned and run business. We only had to wait 10minutes to get a table so that was good. However, the hostess taking our order was so flustered as she was the only one that was taking orders with a packed house! There were two other boys that were either cleaning the tables and seating people but not sure if they were trained to take orders. We had two friends join us spur of the moment that evening so we had a great time. No rush by the restaurant to move on. We stayed there for over 1.5hours. Not really because we wanted to, but it seemed it took a very long time to make the sushi rolls. And we had to keep tracking down our hostess to get some of the items that we ordered. So now for the good stuff. The taste of almost every roll was phenomenal. The only one I didn't like was the Slow Burn Roll, which had an interesting texture to it and no burn to it. But the other rolls and the Sashimi platter were excellent. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was to die for! One of the few places that I have been to that actually serve this. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the rolls on the menu. Total bill for 4 people ended up around $170 including 2 beers and hot tea. We were not even asked if we wanted dessert nor did we want to stay any longer. But it was great to watch the Warriors game that was on while we ate. A very cozy restaurant and the locals know this has great food. I hope the owners take note of this and at least get someone else who can wait tables."

"This has been our favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant for years. The service is consistently great, and I usually opt for takeout. The owner is very friendly and helped me right away. The food was ready and tasted very good, although the fried rice wasn’t quite as great as I remember—it was a bit sticky, which doesn't bother me, but it still had good flavor and plenty of shrimp. The spring rolls are excellent, and the soup was very enjoyable as well."
