"Disappointed is an understatement. We selected The Fairmont Olympic as we were looking for a luxury weekend to celebrate two birthdays for a weekend in Seattle. Luxury is what we DID NOT receive. To start, we had called and confirmed valet was available and when we arrived we were told it was not available and we had to go around and over one block to park in another building. The doorman took our bags and held them for us while we went to park. The parking garage is not attached to the hotel and there was issue with getting in as the parking gate machine was not working. The arm was up and we eventually just went up and parked. We then walked back. What confused us was that we witnessed valet parking the rest of the stay.... he must not have felt up to it when we arrived. Check in was smooth but the hotel is under renovations so there was no lobby and no beautiful history to enjoy. Rooms were clean and spacious and our room had no view except some close large buildings which was fine as we were in the city. Beds were ok and pillows were amazing. The people were nice and the building is lovely. We made a reservation for the pool as instructed but are not sure why we needed to as there was no check in or attendant at the pool area and it was full of families and kids. Definitely not what we expected so we left. The kicker for the weekend was the hotel spa, Penelope’s Beauty Bar. We ALL (6 people) reserved spa packages that were not inexpensive and all had negative experiences. I will only speak from my experience. Covid has somewhat affected the experience which I expected. The waiting room is nothing short of disappointing with a few chairs spaced apart in an open central area surrounded by treatment rooms. There was no attendant to check in on the waiting area or to offer water or tea (which is not available for self serve). I was actually never offered water at all following any of my treatments! I had reserved a Swedish massage and had a massage therapist who ended up bruising me with what I can only imagine was a good deep tissue massage. I had to continue to ask for lighter pressure. Definitely not the relaxing experience I expected. Instead I was almost jumping off the table. I know some like that but NOT ME! I then had an infrared light sauna which was a strange luke warm 20 min. sauna pod that you lay in. Kind of confused by that one so can’t complain. Last, I was very excited about my facial! She was very pleasant and I left with my face feeling good but I’m used to completing a skin assessment beforehand and understanding what the plan was. That didn’t happen. It was like she looked at my skin and “whipped something up”. It was different to say the least. After she was done she walked me out to have a seat. No water, no explanation, and left to pull products that she “suggested” I purchase. I finally awkwardly wandered out and down the hall to the cashier. After charging to the room I was told I would have a receipt sent under my door that evening. Nothing. All in all it was not a positive experience and we paid WAY too much for what we actually received. I will be back when the lobby is open to see it and grab a cocktail but will be staying elsewhere. Just my 2 (or much more) cents."

"Can’t say enough about our dining experience. Was a reunion of 4 couples school friends plus significant others. First off, the place is farmhouse gorgeous. Beautifully restored. Started at the bar where most of us got their specialty drinks, which were delicious and quite strong. Also an order of cheese curds that we all thought were excellent perfectly gooey with a very light, tempura like batter. Super friendly bartenders. Had dinner upstairs and while it was initially cold, especially by the window it is a stone building , they brought up a heater which warmed things up nicely. Many had the prime rib special, which they seemed to enjoy. I had the walleye, which was fine. The breading was crispy and the fish was moist and tender, but it was not particularly flavorful. My boyfriend had the cod. I never think to order cod as it doesn’t itself have flavor, but this cod was in the most delicious butter sauce with mussels. It was divine and because he had a flight out the next day, I got all the leftovers to myself!! We were too full for dessert, but two of us shared a peanut butter chocolate martini, made with peanut butter whisky ?! which we passed around and which was divine. I’ve never had anything like it. It starts off tasting like a regular chocolate martini but then finishes with the peanut butter flavor. Spectacular. I wish I remembered our servers name, but she was so personable and attentive. Separate checks was not a problem. I would highly recommend this place for a gathering for friends or family or even a cozy dinner for two. Will be back when in town."
