"There was hardly any sauce on the pizza, and it had large, salad plate-sized areas with no toppings, despite charging an extra $17 for two toppings. To make matters worse, the crust was thicker than on their smaller pizzas, making it feel like mostly just bread. However, I’ve noticed that these problems don’t occur with the smaller sizes; the toppings on individual slices are actually quite generous. I suspect it’s an issue with how the restaurant is managed or how the kitchen portions toppings, rather than the individual staff member who made my pizza.
If you’re in the area and want pizza to-go, I recommend ordering from Alfredo’s in Point Loma instead. Even with delivery fees and tips, it’s cheaper and, in my opinion, of much higher quality than takeout from Luigi’s. This experience has made me unlikely to order from them again, despite living so close. That said, it’s still a decent place to grab a slice, and the service has always been excellent, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 1."
