"There was hardly any sauce on the pizza, and it had large, salad plate-sized areas with no toppings, despite charging an extra $17 for two toppings. To make matters worse, the crust was thicker than on their smaller pizzas, making it feel like mostly just bread. However, I’ve noticed that these problems don’t occur with the smaller sizes; the toppings on individual slices are actually quite generous. I suspect it’s an issue with how the restaurant is managed or how the kitchen portions toppings, rather than the individual staff member who made my pizza. If you’re in the area and want pizza to-go, I recommend ordering from Alfredo’s in Point Loma instead. Even with delivery fees and tips, it’s cheaper and, in my opinion, of much higher quality than takeout from Luigi’s. This experience has made me unlikely to order from them again, despite living so close. That said, it’s still a decent place to grab a slice, and the service has always been excellent, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 1."

Excellent service, great food! Mixed green salad with salmon was delicious: as was the lasagne lunch special.

This is the best pizza and pasta in San Diego! If I could give it 100 stars, I absolutely would. The service is fantastic as well, and you can feel the positivity in the atmosphere.

Delicious pizza, lasagna, cheese ravioli and fettuccine! The server was excellent, she really took care of us. We sat on the outdoor patio and got to people watch folks in Halloween costumes under the full moon!

The food at this restaurant is outstanding. They offer an impressive kids' menu, and the staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. We had such a wonderful experience that we ended up dining here multiple times during our brief stay. View menu

The pizza was mediocre, and the sandwich was nearly impossible to eat. The bread was very dry, and it had just a single piece of lettuce from the center of the head, which was thick, curly, and pale. I suppose I shouldn't have expected much from a beach pizza place when ordering a sandwich. Overall, I’d rate the food 1 out of 5.

Came here by myself while I was killing time before heading to the airport and my server was so nice! They do ask for you to sit at a table for your party size so I sat a two seater table which was fine. Lots of families eating pizza and guys watching football (it was a Sunday). Refills came before I had to ask and the one pizza slice I ordered was HUGE and definitely kept me full for the afternoon.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
