"Soichi is not our first Omakase experience, but it is the first one in San Diego that we have had. And what an amazing experience it was!Getting a reservation is key, especially if you want the bar. Our server was Marlon, and we told him we had just moved to SD and were celebrating our engagement anniversary. He was SO friendly and a willing conversationalist; we talked about everything from Ratatouille to the skeletal systems of the fish he was preparing. Not only that but Soichi himself also conversed with us and served us a little bit of sake. What a personality! Great presence, but humble and easy to talk to. The staff was amazing at welcoming us, taking care of us, and making sure we were enjoying our meal at every step.But if the staff was anything to appreciate, the food was even more spectacular. My husband and I have been together since college, so we’ve eaten Omakase in the Bay Area and Japan, but Soichi served us one of the best Omakase experiences on the West Coast. Our favorites were their black throated sea perch, amberjack, scallop, shrimp and fried shrimp head! , salmon, trigger fish, and golden eye red snapper; the snapper is so renowned that they sell a t-shirt of it, which we bought because we enjoyed it so much. All of the ingredients were presented beautifully — check the photos of you don’t believe me. But in addition to that, the fish was very fresh and prepared thoughtfully. The Omakase menu lets you really appreciated everything the seas of Japan have to offer.We paid for the $150 full experience, but added on two flights of sake $28 each flight for 3 different sakes and 4 additional nigiris each. It was a full meal! But we were so pleased with the service and care and quality of food that we ended up hanging around until we were the last customers in the restaurant. Soichi, this was our first visit but not our last.Big thanks to Lorena, Marlon, and Soichi himself for making tonight as special as it was. Our engagement anniversary could not have been better spent. Hoping to come back soon!"

Everything smelled amazing and the lingering flavor profile on the palate was exquisite. We added the white truffle and wagyu, I recommend both! "This was my first visit, and I went with my girlfriends for a fun ladies' outing. We arrived on a Saturday morning around 8 a.m. What I loved most about the cafe was the atmosphere—the decor, furniture, and music all created a great vibe. Plus, it's dog-friendly! Although I don’t have a dog yet, it was delightful to see some cute furry friends around. I did take off one star for the food because I believe the portion sizes should be larger for the price. Nevertheless, I will definitely be back! I highly recommend it!"

"Wow! I ordered food for an employee recovering from an illness, but unfortunately, I ended up in a dead zone all day and couldn’t receive texts or emails, which resulted in my order not being delivered. I approached the manager to see if he could help. Rather than judging or dismissing me, he listened to my situation and generously offered me a voucher to cover most of the costs for reordering! I was truly amazed! I was able to place a new order for today, and it was prepared, delivered hot, and absolutely delicious! In today's world, it's rare to find such compassion and understanding. A huge shoutout to the manager who worked on 6/22 at 5:00—unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name. And the food is simply fantastic! You have to stop by the Kebab shop and see for yourself! "The cafe offers excellent sandwiches and pastries, but I had a disappointing experience when I received a sandwich with moldy provolone cheese. It was surprising that the staff didn't notice the green mold on the white cheese during preparation. I politely requested a remake with cheddar, but they brought it out with pepper jack instead. Unfortunately, by the time I got my meal, my kids had already finished theirs, and they didn't offer any compensation, like a discount or a free pastry. I've been a loyal customer for 28 years, so I was quite let down by this visit."

"We had dinner on February 13 to celebrate our anniversary, and it was truly romantic. They adorned our table with scattered rose petals, which was a lovely touch. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly, and both the steak and lobster were cooked to perfection—delicious and incredibly juicy. I've visited many steakhouses, but this one stands out as the best. "I ordered from this restaurant for the first time through DoorDash while at work and craving something simple and not too fatty. I decided to try their tuna melt and it exceeded my expectations - it was delicious. I was so impressed that I took my wife there over the weekend, as she loves a good tuna melt and this place did it justice. I also tried the poke bowl, which was also fantastic. The portion sizes are generous and the prices are reasonable given the high quality of the food. I am considering trying their knish next time, as I am looking forward to my next visit."

"Another dish I love indulging in is the Roasted Bone Marrow. I can easily finish this by myself, which sometimes makes me feel a little guilty. You can choose between baguette or noodles, and I always go for the baguette. It arrives sliced and toasted with garlic butter on top. When I run out of baguette, I toast my own bread—I often find myself devouring it without even realizing! For the Chicken Wontons, I usually pop them in the air fryer to reheat and make them crispy again when I order them to go. They’re flavorful and delicious after reheating! I’ve also tried items from the Mignon Kids menu for my children, and they’ve enjoyed everything. The portion sizes are great, coming with a side of vegetables, and the pricing is reasonable. They usually choose the rice plate option, alternating between chicken and pork. Overall, I will continue ordering from this establishment. The food is consistently high quality, the prices are good, and the takeout experience is reliable."

"We were recommended to give this place a try while in Little Italy. It was right between lunch and dinner but they allowed us to take a table for service rather than putting in an order. They had coke products and a wine list that caught our attention. We ordered cheesy garlic bread for appetizer. The bread was tasty and the marina was warm. I only had room for a small salad but did elect to put chicken on it. The Cesar salad was chilled and had flavor the chicken was as cold and came from a can (or at least that’s what the taste reminded me of). The price of that small salad and chicken was around $18.00 which I thought was a little much. My husband ordered the pizza two options of the Margherita Tomato Ricotta Rosemary. He enjoyed it (we took it back with us and ended up eating on it the next day for lunch). Overall, there are many options for Italian places in Little Italy give it a try and see what you think. We will continue to try new places."

"First, the food is absolutely delicious and by itself is worthy of a five-star rating. What makes this place stand out for us are Sam and George, the husband-and-wife owners. He runs the kitchen and she runs the dining room. George is happy to explain everything on the menu, and make suggestions. His help was most appreciated, and we ordered things we may not have otherwise ordered. Everything was amazing! Sam, from the moment we arrived, proved herself to be the funnier of the two. She clearly enjoys what she does, and loves making people laugh. She had us in stitches, and we still chuckle about her a month later. If you live in San Diego, or you are just visiting, go to Alforon! You will not be disappointed."

"Another i have been wanting to go since we left San Diego. Had been eyeing it on Instagram for some time.Phenomenal dining experience. Beautiful restaurant with an excellent vibe, impeccable service, and amazing food. We sat in the balcony and it was perfect San Diego weather. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful.The food. Phenomenal. The drinks were excellent. Had the special of the month which was a fig mule, so good.We had the taquitos and tacos de birria appetizers and bother were phenomenal and platted beautifully.For dinner my partner an i both had the short ribs in mole and my friend the pescado zarandeado and loved it. The homemade corn tortillas were delicious and the presentation, beautiful.Phenomenal dinning experience that everyone must have. Kuddos to Cocina del Barrio."

"I live nearby and have often driven past this restaurant. I finally decided to stop in. The menu is quite extensive, so there is likely something for everyone. However, as a sushi chef of 17 years, I may be a bit biased in saying that the sushi here is a good base. I ordered the baked mussels, but unfortunately, they were still attached to the shell, making it difficult to eat. The rolls were also quite large, making it a challenge to fit them in my mouth. My wife had even more trouble. Additionally, the rolls were not tightly packed, leading to the insides falling out easily. I may give this place another try and ask for the rolls to be cut into 10 pieces for easier eating. While the flavors were good and there was a nice variety, I believe there are other restaurants that offer a similar experience. Overall, I would give this place 3 stars for an average rating."

"The meal was satisfactory, yet not memorable. The flavor profile was simply average. Not well-seasoned nor developed. I had hoped for an authentic French meal and was truly disappointed. Coquilles St. Jacques usually comes in a puff pastry. Not only was there no puff pastry, there was a very so-so risotto that was underwhelming. While the waitress was pleasant, I waited a considerable time for a simple glass of wine. When the wine arrived, it was about a thimble sized portion. Not enough value for the money. On the plus side, I received a birthday card signed by members of the staff and a lovely chocolate mousse for my birthday. Nice touches. Don't know if I would return soon."

"My boyfriend I came with a reservation for outdoor seating. We were seated right away, the hostess was super sweet. Outdoor seating was great! I was afraid I would be chilly, but I wasnât. Our table was a two-seater that I found intimate somewhat romantic. Our server (I believe her name was Taylor) was quick, I loved that they light the candle only when there are guests there at the table. I ordered the calamari spaghetti with meatballs. My boyfriend ordered the spicy salami pizza. We both ordered some drinks. Everything came out within 10-15 minutes. Everything was super delicious! Unfortunately, a little bug flew into my drink. Understandable; I was outside. I ordered a new drink, but I was a bit worried I would be charged for two drinks. I did not want to ask, but they only charged us for the one drink. Super nice of them! My boyfriend I also work at a restaurant, one of our chefs recommended North Italia. We really wanted to try it, the service food exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a wonderful date night! ð"
