"Food was really good! And the proportions are so big. I had the Caribbean pasta with oxtail and it was soo much! I can definitely have 4 meals with this one order. Seasoned well and the oxtail was amazing. My friends got oxtail with sides of broccoli and mashed potatoes and the Jamalasi Surf and Turf with sides mashed potatoes and Mango Cold Slaw. Both of them really enjoyed their food. The mango cold slaw was nice and fresh. We also had their jerk wings and they were great as well. We really enjoyed the food and the staff was nice. Cree (hopefully that's the correct spelling) was our waiter and he was cool!"

"Let’s be honest — this is a legendary spot and doesn’t need my review! However, I loved it so much I have to share. I went in solo on a Saturday (5/29) around 9:30 pm. Cover was $15 for the live show, which is completely reasonable. The bartender was excellent, friendly and communicative even with minimal conversation. While I love a good bartender chat, you should come here for the music. A live DJ was performing a great reggae mix set when I got in, and a bit after 10, the live set began. A TV/speakers at the bar play the show, so you can chill there and avoid the crowd. While I didn’t try it, the food looked and smelled delicious. I am, however, a fan of rum drinks and those don’t disappoint. I had a few of the famous rum punches and a reggae mule. Those paired with the music made sure I left with good vibes!"

"The combination fried rice was absolutely delicious — I just kept eating it even though I was meant to share! Unfortunately, the General Tso's chicken was lacking. Typically, when I order this dish, it's swimming in that tasty sauce, but this time, there was none at all. I was quite disappointed. Nonetheless, I think I'll return for the combination fried rice, and I might give the General Tso's another shot. The flavor was good; I'll just make sure to ask for extra sauce next time."

"Stay away from this establishment. We arrived to enjoy the evening, as we've done in the past and were surprised by the cover fee. After asking a few questions to ensure we would get a table and that the kitchen was open, we paid and sat down. We go up to the bar to get the menu and while deciding what to eat (only 3 items on the menu- more the last time I was here) we were told that we had to get up from the table as it was reserved and for those with bottle service only. We spoke with Al and he informed us that it was a private party and we couldn't keep our table as it wasn't reserved and we didn't order a bottle and had to either go up stairs and sit behind the dj or leave with no refund. We asked all of the questions and were still lied to by the staff. Stay away. Make sure if you come there's no private parties or mandatory bottle service. Never again."

"OK, so I see that about 3 years ago I posted a so-so review of this restaurant. That was when they first opened and it was apparently not their best showing. "Fish cheeks was a great find as we discovered the SOHO district. We absolutely loved the cobblestone street as we approached the restaurant. We didn’t have reservations but the hostess quickly made accommodations for us even bright it was packed. After being seated we were made comfortable and high the highest level of customer service. I asked about the menu as a first timer and began ordering from the suggested “fan favorites”. It did not disappoint!!The shrimp appetizer was full of flavor and quite spicy but I enjoyed every bit of it. If you don’t like spicy, the shrimp as extravagant if scrapped off. Lastly the steamed fish was fresh, full of flavor and dare I say “IMPECCABLE”. I can’t wait to give this place a revisit and try EVERYTHING on their menu. You’re gonna love this place, I guarantee. ???"
